Barbara Russell
ULYSSES - Barbara Russell, 76, of Ulysses died Monday, Oct. 22, 2001, at Bob Wilson Memorial Hospital in Ulysses.
Mrs. Russell was born on June 22, 1925, at Chanute, the daughter of Eugene and Lillian (Hartwig) Leabo. In 1945 she married Edward Frances "Ned" Russell at Lake City, Fla. He preceeded her in death on Sept. 25, 1986.
A Ulysses resident since 1949, she was a homemaker. She was a past member of Ulysses Junior Civic, enjoyed playing bridge and was a very active and founding member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Ulysses.
She is survived by three sons, Brian Russell, Seattle, Brett Russell, Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Seth Russell, Portland, Ore.; a daughter, Melanie Kemp, Los Gatos, Calif.; and five grandchildren.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at St. John's Episcopal Church in Ulysses, with the Revs. Dennis Zimmerman and Floyd Daharsh officiating. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Memorial Park Cemetery
in Chanute.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and 9 a.m. to noon Thursday at Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses.

E. Victor Wilson
SYRACUSE - E. Victor Wilson, 93, Syracuse, died Friday, Oct. 19, 2001, at the Hamilton County Extended Care, Syracuse.
Mr. Wilson was born Oct. 4, 1908, at Hutchinson, the son of R.P.B. and Sarah (Atkinson) Wilson.
He lived most of his life in Hutchinson, until 1997 when he moved to Syracuse. Victor was a member of the Grace Episcopal Church, Kiwanis Club, Rotary Club and Masonic Lodge. He also was a member of The University of Kansas Alumni Association after graduating in 1937 with a law degree.
Mr. Wilson enjoyed golfing, coin collecting and singing in the church choir. He was elected probate judge for Reno County in 1954 and served in that capacity until he retired in February of 1981.
Victor is survived by his wife Frances Cleo (Collins) Wilson of Syracuse, whom he married Feb. 15, 1936, at Lawrence. Other survivors include a nephew, Bob Wilson of Syracuse; and a niece, Cheri Elvin, Lenexa.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Henry P.J. Wilson; and a sister Alice (Wilson) Abernathy.
There will be a requiem eucharist at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Grace Episcopal Church, Hutchinson, with the Revs. Mike Milliken and Larry Steadman presiding. The family will meet at the church at 12:30 p.m. prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Hamilton County Extended Care or Grace Episcopal Church in care of Johnson & Sons Funeral Home, 300 E. 30th Ave., Hutchinson, KS 67502.
Arrangements are being handled by Greene-Fellers Funeral Home, Syracuse, and Johnson & Sons Funeral Home, Hutchinson.
Juanita Calderon Cordoba
Juanita Calderon Cordoba, 3 months, died Oct. 17, 2001, at Western Plains Regional Hospital, Dodge City.
She was born July 2, 2001, at Dodge City, the daughter of Mauricio Calderon and Ana "Patty" Cordoba.
Survivors include her parents, Dodge City; one sister, Daniela Calderon Cordoba, of the home; grandparents, Daniel Calderon, Anita Sabogal, Luis E. Cordoba and Hilda M. De Cordoba, all of Bogota, Colombia, South America, and Luiz and Phyllis Orozco of Garden City; great-grandparents, Noe Sabogal, Jorge E. Cordoba, Ana De Cordoba and Ananias Marentes, all of Bogota; and numerous uncles and aunts.
Funeral Mass will be noon Monday at Sacred Heart Cathedral, Dodge City, with the Rev. Ted A. Skalsky presiding. There will be no public visitation. Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery, Garden City.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the Juanita Calderon Cordoba Memorial Fund, in care of Burkhart Funeral Chapel, 1901 N. 14th Ave., Dodge City, KS 67801.
Taylor John Nickel and Benjamin Joel Nickel
COPELAND - Funeral for Taylor John Nickel and Benjamin Joel Nickel, the infant sons of Brenton and Jayne Nickel of Copeland, will be 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Salem Mennonite Church, Copeland. Steve Unruh and Verle Yost, ministers, will officiate. Burial will be in Salem Mennonite Church Cemetery, Copeland.
The twins were born Oct. 13, 2001. Taylor died Monday, Oct. 15, 2001, and Benjamin died Friday, Oct. 19, 2001, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.
In addition to their parents, they are survived by their grandparents, Roy and Barb Boese, Pincher Creek, Alberta, Canada, and Ken and Shirley Nickel, Copeland; their great-grandparents, Esther Boese, Pincher Creek, Albert and Violet Baerg, Paxton, Neb., Susie Nickel, Montezuma, and Henry and Bernice Toews, Emelle, Ala.; and numerous aunts and uncles.
Visitation hours are from 1 to 8 tonight at Haskell County Funeral Home, Sublette. The casket will remain closed.
Clifford Marion Tabor
Clifford Marion Tabor, 76, died Thursday, Oct. 18, 2001, at his home in Garden City.
He was born Aug. 23, 1925, at Kirkwell, Colo., the son of Theodore and Isabel (Smith) Tabor. He had been a Garden City resident since moving here with his family when he was 6.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, from October 1943 to 1945, serving in the South Pacific onboard LSM 151.
Mr. Tabor worked at Oswalt-Heyco Manufacturing for 18 years, retiring in 1987. He had previously worked for Lewis Strauser at the South Side Service Station, at Geier Electric, and at Cook's Refrigeration, and sold National Life and Accident Insurance. He was also self-employed doing electrical and refrigeration service work until his health prevented him from working any longer.
He was a member of Church of the Nazarene and enjoyed spending time at the coffee shop visiting with friends.
On Sept. 19, 1946, he married Joan Mary Loper at Garden City. She died Aug. 15, 1973. He was also preceded in death by his parents, a brother, a sister and a grandson.
On Dec. 31, 1977, he married Evelyn Irene Yardley Moffitt at Garden City. She survives. He is also survived by two sons, David Tabor and Donald Tabor, both of Garden City; two daughters, Kathy Smith, Westminster, Colo., and Karla Tabor, Wichita; a stepson, Chris Moffitt, Bettles, Alaska; two stepdaughters, Lynda Klaes, North Pole, Alaska, and Vaneta Harper, Avondale, Ariz.; a brother, Theodore "Bud" Russell Tabor, Garden City; two sisters, Marge Greer, Houston, and Judy Jones, Tulsa, Okla.; eight grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and six stepgreat-grandchildren.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday at Church of the Nazarene, Garden City, with the Rev. Charles West officiating. Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery, Garden City, with military graveside rites conducted by the Garden City Area Veterans Honor Guard.
Visitation hours are from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Garnand Funeral Home, Garden City. Memorials are suggested to Church of the Nazarene, in care of the funeral home, 412 N. Seventh St.
Taylor John Nickel
COPELAND - Taylor John Nickel, the infant son of Brenton and Jayne Nickel of Copeland, died Monday, Oct. 15, 2001, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.
He was born Oct. 13, 2001.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by a twin brother, Benjamin, Copeland; his grandparents, Roy and Barb Boese, Pincher Creek, Alberta, Canada, and Ken and Shirley Nickel, Copeland; his great-grandparents, Esther Boese, Pincher Creek, Albert and Violet Baerg, Paxton, Neb., Susie Nickel, Montezuma, and Henry and Bernice Toews, Emelle, Ala.; and numerous aunts and uncles.
Graveside service is planned in Salem Mennonite Church Cemetery, Copeland.
Haskell County Funeral Home, Sublette, is in charge of arrangements.
Charles Donald "Mac" McKinney
TRIBUNE - Funeral for Charles Donald "Mac" McKinney, 86, will be 10:30 a.m. MDT Thursday at the United Methodist Church, Tribune, with the Revs. Keith Fink and Jerl Joslin officiating. Graveside service will be 4:30 p.m. CST Thursday in Englewood Cemetery, Englewood.
Mr. McKinney died Monday, Oct. 15, 2001, at Greeley County Hospital in Tribune.
He was born March 14, 1915, at Englewood, the son of Charles W. and Grace E. (Canton) McKinney.
A farmer, rancher, carpenter, welder and oil field contractor, he had been a Greeley County resident since 1971, moving from Englewood.
Mr. McKinney was a member of First Christian Church of Englewood and the National Rifle Association, and attended the United Methodist Church in Tribune.
On April 5, 1936, he married Vivian Lowry at Englewood. She died in December 1989 at Tribune. He married Louella Curtis in November 1990. She died Dec. 28, 1995, at Burbank, Calif. He was also preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
Survivors include two daughters, Norma Baker, Montezuma, and Alice Robertson, Tribune; nine grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation hours are until 8 MDT tonight at Price & Sons Funeral Home, Tribune. Memorials are suggested to the Greeley County Hospital/Long Term Care Home or the Englewood Alumna Association, both in care of the funeral home.
