Glenna Fern Orth
Glenna Fern Orth, 66, Garden City, died Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2001, at her home.
She was born on Sept. 18, 1934, at Garden City, the daughter of Arel D. and Marie Amy (Kinsvator) Mills. She grew up and attended schools in Garden CIty.
She married Raymond L. Orth on Aug. 4, 1951, at Garden City. She moved with her husband to Holland while Raymond was serving in the U.S. Air Force. They moved back to Garden City in 1973 and have lived here since.
A homemaker, Glanna also enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, crafts and handy work. She is preceded in death by her husband, who died Jan. 17, 1966. She also is preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Rae Ann Orth; and a sister, Vivian Waterhouse.
She was a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church, Garden City, Friends of Lee Richardson zoo; Eagles Auxiliary; V.F.W. Auxiliary; and the American Legion Auxiliary.
Survivors include: three brothers, Everett Mills, Sublette, Arthur Mills, Chanute, and Marlin Wayne Mills, Mulvane; two sisters, Mildred Sager, Jetmore, and Betty Triplett, Olathe; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Fairmont Cemetery, Jetmore, with the Rev. Joseph Bahr officiating. Burial will be at Fairmont Cemetery.

Donald E. Stark
SCOTT CITY - Donald E. Stark, 72, Scott City, died Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2001, at Scott County Hospital, Scott City.
He was born March 25, 1929, at Dodge City, the son of clyde Warren and Grace Eudora (Yates) Stark. He was a resident of Scott County since 1946, moving from Enid, Okla. In 1963, he retired from Wheatland Electric Cooperative after 38 years as an office manager.
He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Scott City.
On Feb. 4, 1961, he married Carole Breit at Scott City. She survives.
Other survivors include: three daughters, Vanessa Metzger, Lawrence, and Debra Stark and Suzanne Stark, both of Hays; two sisters, Kathryn Duff and Molly Williams, both of Scott City; a grandson, Morgan Metzger, Lawrence; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial mass will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Scott City, with the Rev. David Kraus officiating. Burial will be in the Scott County Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 tonight at Price & Sons Funeral Home, Scott City.
Memorials may be made to the Scott County Hospital in care of the funeral home.
Opal Marie Bruington
MONTEZUMA - Opal Marie Bruington, 81, rural Montezuma, died Sunday, Sept. 2, 2001, at her home.
She was born on Oct. 24, 1919, in Gray County, the daughter of Harry and Pearl Mae (Brock) Reinert. She was a lifetime resident of the area.
Opal married Joseph "Joe" Lawrence Bruington on Oct. 1, 1938, at Ashland. They moved from Meade County to rural Montezuma.
Mrs. Bruington loved her family and enjoyed being with htem. She was a helpmate on the farm. She enjoyed oil painting and and being an artist. She like to crochet. She enjoyed playing the piano and organ.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Montezuma. She played the piano for Sunday school for many years. She was a member of the U.M.W. and the Blue Light Extension Club, both of Montezuma.
Survivors include her husband Joseph of the home; a son, Larry L., Upland, Calif.; a daughter, Judy M. Gall, Dodge City; a brother, Leslie Reinert, Syracuse; a brother-in-law, Leroy Padget, Ford; a sister, Leona Randolph, Lakin; two grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two stepgreat-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, zella Padget and Dollie Hodges, and a husband Gene.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the United Methodist Church, Montezuma, with the Rev. Gene Eshleman officiating. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery, Montezuma.
Friends may call until 8 tonight at the Montezuma Funeral Home.

Joe L. Stebbins
BURLESON, Texas - Joe L. Stebbins, 48, died Friday, Aug. 24, 2001, at his home is Burleson, Texas, after a lengthy battle with cancer.
He was born Aug. 31, 1952, at Dalhart, Texas, the son of Wallace and Wanda Stebbins.
Stebbins graduated from Lakin High School with the class of 1970. At LHS he was editor of the Bronc Round-Up his junior and senior years.
He attended two years at Weatherford, Okla., before graduating from the University of Missouri in 1974. He went on to work at the Oakland Press in Pontiac, Mich., the Wilkes-Barre Times Leader in Pennsylvania, the Kansas City Star and the Hartford Courant in Connecticut. In the summer of 1987, Stebbins was hired to the staff of the Arlington Star-Telegram in Texas, where he currently was assistant ciy editor.
He is survived by his wife, Jodie, of the home; his daughter, Leslie, of Arlington, Texas; stepchildren, Erica Wright Whitmire, Virginia Beach, Va., Sara, Jake and Isaac Kuhn of the home; and his mother, Wanda L. Stebbins, Lakin.
He was preceded in death by his father and his grandparents, Joe and Elsie Patton and Robert and Jean Stebbins.
A memorial service will be at 5 p.m. Thursday at the Lakin United Methodist Church with the Rev. David Bolz officiating.
The family suggests memorials to the donor's choice.
Corine J. Wokaty
LIBERAL - Corine J. Wokaty, 72, Liberal, and former Satanta resident, died Sunday, Sept. 2, 2001, at Southwest Medical Center, Liberal.
She was born on Sept. 9, 1928, at Dathon, Okla., the daughter of William Lester and Mary M. (Salee) King.
She married Robert F. Wokaty on March 3, 1945, at Cherokee, Okla. They moved from Forgun, Okla., to Satanta in 1961.
Mrs. Wokaty was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening and raising flowers. She was the wife of a former pastor of The Full Gospel Church in Satanta. She attended the Fairth Tabernacle Church in Liberal. She was a member of the Full Gospel Evangelistic Association.
Survivors include her husband Robert of Liberal; three sons, Robert D., Richmond, Va., William L., Oklahoma City and David M., Greenville, S.C.; a daughter, Amirah D. Ackerman, Turpin, Okla.; three brothers, Charles and Richard King, both of Joplin, Mo., and Robert King of Nevada; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and a grandson, Troy Wokaty.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Faith Tabernacle Church, Liberal, with the Rev. Rex Petty presiding. Burial will be in Restlawn Cemetery, Liberal.
Haskell County Funeral Home, Sublette, is in charge of arrangements.
Friends may call from until 8 tonight and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home and from 3 to 8 p.m. at the church.
