Homer "Pete" Magnison Jr.
ULYSSES - Funeral for Homer "Pete" Magnison Jr., 72, of Medicine Lodge, will be 10 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, Medicine Lodge, with the Revs. Russell Stolp and Mike Henry officiating. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Medicine Lodge.
Mr. Magnison died Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2001, in Hutchinson.
He was born Sept. 19, 1928, in rural Medicine Lodge, the son of Homer Urso and Lena Rose (Baier) Magnison.
A lifetime resident of Medicine Lodge, he was a farmer and rancher.
On Aug. 1, 1949, he married Ersel Shaddy at Pratt. She survives. He is also survived by three sons, James, Oroville, Calif., Robert, Medicine Lodge, and Randall, Ulysses; two daughters, Beverly Sawyer, of Sharon, and Debra Anderson, Wichita; a brother, John, Medicine Lodge; two sisters, Jo Ann Stolp, Medicine Lodge, and Louise McAdams, Manhattan; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Opal Spencer; and a grandson.

Clifford I. Landrith
Funeral for Clifford I. Landrith, 70, a lifelong resident of Bartlett, will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Edna Methodist Church, with the Rev. Dean Knewston officiating. Graveside service will follow in Lakecreek Cemetery, Bartlett.
Mr. Landrith died Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2001, at a Topeka hospital. He died of complications suffered from a stroke, which occurred while he was traveling in Canada.
After graduating from Labette County High School in 1948, he began farming with his father. His farming operation included various phases of the cattle industry, from a cow-calf operation in the 1970s and '80s to backgrounding steers, as well as a farming operation that included wheat and row crops.
Mr. Landrith served as a past director for the Labette County Farm Bureau, was on the local school board, was an organizing director for the rural water district, and served on the State Extension Board for two years.
His and his wife, Dorothy Arlene (Blevins) Landrith, whom he married on Nov. 27, 1952, at Edna, were soil conservation award recipients for pasture management and soil conservation practices.
Mr. Landrith was a former 4-H member, project and community leader, and actively supported the 4-H program in Labette County.
He is survived by his wife; a son, C. Michael Landrith of Bartlett; four daughters, Melanie Longmore, Ponca City, Okla., Brenda Drees, Garden City, Nancy Hier, Maple Hill, and Lynette Hudson, Topeka; and 11 grandchildren.
Visitation hours are from 7 to 8 tonight at Bath Funeral Home, Chetopa. Memorials may be made to the Clifford Landrith Memorial Scholarship Fund through the Bartlett Labette County State Bank or the American Cancer Society.
Allen E. Ford
HOLCOMB - Funeral for Allen E. Ford, 78, of Ponca City, Okla., will be 10 a.m. Friday in the chapel of Trout Funeral Home, Ponca City, with the Rev. Dr. Sheila Combs-Francis officiating. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery, with graveside veterans honors provided by members of VFW Post 1201.
Mr. Ford died Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2001, at his home.
He was born April 1, 1923, at Logan, in Beaver County, Okla., to Roscoe M. and Belle (Huddleston) Ford, and attended Beaver County schools.
During World War II, he served with the U.S. Army as a gun crew member with the 505th Antiaircraft Artillery Gun Battalion. He was a lifetime member of the VFW and was an avid golfer.
Mr. Ford was employed by Northern Natural Gas Co. for 37 years at Beaver, Holcomb and Burdett. He moved to Ponca City in 1996.
He is survived by his wife, Essie (Helm) Ford, whom he married on June 7, 1952, at Garden City; three daughters, Janet Stinemetz, Holcomb, Carol McGaughey, Ponca City, and Linda Bell, Liberty, Mo.; two sons, Randy Ford, Dodge City, and Walter Kirk; nine grandchildren; a brother, Tom Ford, Woodward, Okla.; and a sister, Vera Ruben, Montrose, Colo. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and six sisters.
Memorials are suggested to Hospice of Ponca City, 1904 N. Union, Suite 103, Ponca City, OK 74601.
The family will be at the home, 1029 N. Third St., in Ponca City.
Viola Elizabeth "Beth" Love
Funeral for Viola Elizabeth "Beth" Love, 75, will be 2 p.m. Friday at Partridge Community Church, with the Rev. Pamela J. Tinnin officiating. Burial will be in Partridge Cemetery.
Mrs. Love died Monday, Aug. 20, 2001, at Garden Valley Retirement Village in Garden City.
Born Sept. 7, 1925, at Newton, she was the daughter of Jesse and Gertrude (Stolfus) Beauchamp.
She grew up on the family farm south of Johnson City and attended Roanoke Grade School until the Dust Bowl forced it to close. She attended school in Emporia for several years before returning to Johnson City where she graduated from Stanton County High School.
After attending Denver University and Kansas State Teachers College at Emporia where she earned a teaching certificate, she taught grade school at Cunningham, Richfield, Big Bow and Garden City until 1954.
On Oct. 10, 1954, she married Glenn Love at Emporia. They lived in Hutchinson for two years before moving to Weslaco, Texas in 1956. They and their three sons lived in Weslaco for nearly 30 years and raised citrus fruit. They returned to Johnson City in 1983.
Mrs. Love enjoyed gardening, traveling, dogs, antiques, flower arranging and raising Watusi cattle.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by three sons, Fred and David, both of Johnson City, and Bill, Madison, Wis. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Fae I. Carlson Stevens
Fae I. Carlson Stevens, 101, formerly of Garden City, died Monday, Aug. 13, 2001, in Mesa, Ariz.
She was born March 19, 1900, at Nickerson, the daughter of Frank and Marietta Wooddell. She attended school in Nickerson and attended the Chicago Music Conservatory.
In 1942, she married Harold W. Carlson and moved to Garden City. After his death in 1962, she moved to Mesa. In 1965, she married Ralph E. Stevens and they continued to reside in Mesa. He also preceded her in death as did her parents; a son, Jack Hamilton; and a stepdaughter, June Carson.
Mrs. Stevens had been living in an assisted living complex in Mesa since 1996.
Survivors include a son, Dr. Jim Carlson, Crofton, Neb.; a granddaughter; a stepdaughter, Shirley Clinton, Union, Wash.; seven stepgrandchildren; one great-grandchild; eight stepgreat-grandchildren; and a nephew.
Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Valley View Cemetery, Garden City.
Melcher Mortuary, Mesa, is in charge of arrangements.
Wayland R. Keeney
TRIBUNE - Funeral for Wayland R. Keeney, 39, will be 10:30 a.m. MDT Wednesday at First Baptist Church, Tribune, with the Rev. Mark Randolph officiating. Full military committal services will be conducted at 2 p.m. MDT Friday in Santa Fe (N.M.) National Cemetery, with Alvin Keeney officiating.
Mr. Keeney died Saturday, Aug. 18, 2001, at Sabetha.
He was born April 29, 1962, at Fort Smith, Ohio, the son of David Keith and Margie Ellen (Noel) Keeney.
A Tribune resident since 1996, he was a transport driver for Rite-Way Milk of Holdridge, Neb. He was a member of First Baptist Church and a lifetime member of the VFW, both at Tribune, and had been in the U.S. Marine Corp from 1983 until taking in-active ready reserve status in 1996.
On Nov. 5, 1983, he married Linda Jantz at Albuquerque, N.M. She survives. He is also survived by two sons, Jason and Jeremy, both of the home; his father and a brother, Michael Keeney, both of Albuquerque; and a sister, Tammy Randolph, Tribune.
