Donald Glenn Coulter
The funeral service for Donald Glenn Coulter will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Church of the Brethren in Garden City, with the Rev. Gary Meeks presiding.
Donald Glenn Coulter, 62, Garden City, died Monday, May 7, 2001, at St. Catherine Hospital, Garden City.
Mr. Coulter was born on Sept. 16, 1938, at the family farm near Helena, Okla., the son of Glenn and Emma (Wilcox) Coulter. He moved with his family to a farm near Wichita when he was 4 years old. They later moved to Garden City in 1944.
Donald graduated from Garden City High School in 1956. While in high school, he excelled in football, track and basketball. He then attended Garden City Junior College and Emporia State University. While at ESU, he met and married Janet Stormont on April 10, 1959, at Emporia.
He was an active member of the Church of the Brethren, Garden City, serving as a church school teacher, board member, deacon and a lay speaker. He had a way with words and he presented his last sermon on Sunday.
When his children were younger, Donald coached boys' football and baseball and women's softball. His 1981 team was the women's class A champs. Donald also enjoyed painting. He was a salesman for Weber Refrigeration, Heating & Air Conditioning.
Donald is preceded in death by his father, who died in 1996, and mother, who died in 1999.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; a son, Kipling Coulter, Wakita, Okla.; two daughters, Keeli Zambrano, Holcomb, and Kamela Brooks, Garden City; a brother, Leland Coulter, Mountain Park, Okla.; a sister, Devonna Snider, Helena, Okla.; four grandchildren and aunts and uncles.
Cremation will follow the service and a private family burial will take place at a later date at the Good Hope Cemetery
in Helena.
Friends may call until 8 tonight at Garnand Funeral Home, Garden City.
Memorials may be given to the Church of the Brethren or the donor's choice, both in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 412 N. Seventh St., Garden City, KS 67846.
Orval E. Russell
SCOTT CITY - Orval E. Russell, 81, Scott City, died Monday, May 7, 2001, at the Scott County Hospital in Scott City.
Mr. Russell was born on Oct. 14, 1919, in Gove County, the son of Robert Alexander and Iva May (Wright) Russell. A resident of Scott City since 1955, moving from Gove County, he was a farmer, silage cutter and worked for the Scott County Road Department driving a maintainer.
He was a World War II Army veteran and he enjoyed fishing and gardening. He was a member of the Weslyan Church in Scott City.
On Feb. 6, 1941, he married Lena R. Farr at Scott City. She survives.
Other survivors include: two sons, Richard of Holcomb and Roger of Ronks, Pa.; two daughters, Roberta LeClair of Garden City and Monica Schwab of York, Neb.; two brothers, Kenneth of Gove and Howard of Scotts Bluff, Neb.; two sisters, Dorothy Burris, Sharon Springs, and Violet Kerr, Springfield, Mo.; 16 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Barbara Green; a son, Myron Russell; two brothers; three grandsons and a great-grandson.
The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Price & Sons Funeral Home in Scott City, with the Rev. John Warring officiating. Burial will be in the Scott County Cemetery, Scott City.
Visitation will be until 8 tonight, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. to service time Friday.
Memorials may be given to the Scott County Hospital in care of the funeral home.
Alexander "Pacos" Sundstrom
HITCHCOCK, Texas - Alexander "Pacos" Sundstrom, 84, Hitchcock, Texas, died Saturday, May 5, 2001, at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City, Kan.
Mr. Sundstrom was born on Sept. 9, 1916, in New Orleans.
He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving in World War II and the Air Force and National Guard in the Korean War. He was a member of Knights of Columbus and was a retired butcher.
Survivors include his two sons, Alexander L. of Garden City and Phillip E. of Dallas; a sister, Genieive Lamb, San Diego, Calif.; three brothers, William "Mickey", Carl and Walter, all of San Diego; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth J. (Drew) Sundstrom.
A vistation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at James Crowder Funeral Home, 401 Texas Ave., La Marque, Texas. A vigil will follow at 7 p.m. with Sister Mary Ann Hollman officiating. The funeral service will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Hitchcock with the Rev. Peter Ferguson officiating.
Burial will be at Grace Memorial Park in Hitchcock.

Edna Irene Clarkson
Edna Irene Clarkson, 93, died Monday, May 7, 2001, at St. Catherine Hospital, Garden City.
Mrs. Clarkson was born Sept. 2, 1907, at Toccoa, Mo., the daughter of Martin H. and Cora Belle Luna Fields.
She had been a registered nurse with the Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma City before moving to Garden City in 1975. While working at the base, she would often open her home to any fellow nurses for family weekend get togethers.
She was a member of the Christian faith and enjoyed reading, gardening, her friends and being with her family.
On June 23, 1928, she married Paul Arthur Clarkson at Chandler, Okla. He died Dec. 18, 1974, at Oklahoma City.
Survivors include: a daughter, Carolyn Sauer, Garden City; two granddaughters and four great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Price & Sons Funeral Home, Garden City, with the Rev. Randy Caddell presiding. Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Arlington Memory Gardens Cemetery
in Oklahoma City.
Friends may call until 8 tonight and from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Bobby L. Stelzig
MOSCOW - Bobby L. Stelzig, 47, Holly, Colo., and former Moscow resident, died Monday, May 7, 2001, at Prower Medical Center, Lamar, Colo.
Mr. Stelzig was born on Feb. 15, 1954, at Midland, Texas, the son of Lawrence E. and Jewel Christine (Gatlin) Stelzig.
He served his country in the U.S. Army.
Survivors include: two brothers, Gary Stelzig, Newark, Del., and Ricky Stelzig, Amarillo, Texas; one sister, Vickie Small, Moscow; three nieces and two great-nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Moscow Baptist Church, with the Rev. Larry Bradford presiding. Burial will be at the Moscow Cemetery.
Paul's Funeral Home, Hugoton, is in charge of arrangements.
