Helen Savage
Memorial service for Helen Savage, 68, of Hays, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jerry Sprock officiating.
Mrs. Savage died Thursday, May 24, 2001, at her home.
She was born June 27, 1932, at Paradise, the daughter of Lloyd and Daisy (Cook) Withrow. She graduated from Russell High School in 1950.
Mrs. Savage was a member of American Baptist Church, was president of the Newcomer's Bridge Club of Hays, and belonged to the VFW Auxiliary of Russell.
On Sept. 23, 1950, she married Kenneth Savage at Russell. He survives. Other survivors are four daughters, Debra Schreck of Victoria, Kathy Savage of Munjor, Sheila Karlin, Garden City, and Lesly Rupp, Hays; four sisters, Barbara Holt and Sharon Zirkle, both of Russell, Glenda Steinert, Pratt, and Joyce Cells, Arkansas City; and six grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother and a sister.

Randy Lee Thomas
DIGHTON - Funeral for Randy Lee Thomas, 44, of Pratt, will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the Free Methodist Church, Pratt, with the Rev. Ken Keeling officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Pratt.
Mr. Thomas died Thursday, May 24, 2001, at his home.
He was born March 28, 1957, at Scott City, the son of Raymond and Theresia (Bernegger) Thomas.
A Pratt resident for 11 years, moving from Dighton, he worked as an auto mechanic.
On May 5, 1984, he married Sharon Lee Mead at Dighton. She survives. He is also survived by a son, Robert Lee Thomas, of the home; a daughter, Heather Bardgett, Topeka; and three brothers, Claus Thomas, Gering, Neb., Harold Thomas, Wetmore, Colo., and Raymond John Thomas, Dighton.
Visitation hours are until 8 tonight and from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at Larrison Mortuary, Pratt. Memorials to the Randy Lee Thomas Memorial Fund may be sent in care of the mortuary, 201 E. Fourth St., Pratt, KS 67124.
Charlotte White
Vigil and rosary services for Charlotte White, 78, a Garden City resident before moving to Denver in the 1960s, are scheduled for this evening in Denver. Funeral Mass will be 9:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary Catholic Church, Garden City, with the Rev. James Baker as celebrant. Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery, Garden City.
Mrs. White died Tuesday, May 22, 2001, at Rose Medical Center in Denver.
She was born May 31, 1922, at Tempas, Colo., the daughter of Thomas William and Leona (Rexford) Gatlin.
She had been an elementary school teacher in the Denver area for 34 years, and was a member of the St. Vincent DePauls parish, the Altar and Rosary Society at Denver. She was an avid skier, golfer, nature lover and gardener.
On May 20, 1944, she married Harry V. White at the Army Air Base in Garden City. He died in the line of duty during World War II.
Survivors include numerous cousins and friends.

Warren Ray Goodman
Warren Ray Goodman, 95, of Truth or Consequences, N.M., died Thursday, May 17, 2001, at the Sierra Health Care Center in Truth or Consequences.
Born in Garden City on June 27, 1905, he was the son of John Anselm and Estella (Fenton) Goodman.
Throughout most of his life he worked as a bricklayer in the construction industry. He was a member of the Elks Lodge and the Moose Lodge, and enjoyed dancing.
He is survived by two sons, Milton L. Goodman, Pisgah Forest, N.C., and Ronald Goodman, Wichita; six grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and his long-time companion, Patricia Wright, Truth or Consequences. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Gladys Mary (Glasco) Goodman; his second wife, Mildred Goodman; four brothers, Robert, Roy, Emmet and Francis Goodman; a sister, Mary Goodman; and one grandson.
Memorial service will be 11 a.m. June 1 at Sierra Funeral Home Chapel, Truth or Consequences.
Melvin L. "Jeff" Anderson
DIGHTON - Melvin L. "Jeff" Anderson, 74, died Wednesday, May 23, 2001, at Lane County Hospital in Dighton.
He was born March 1, 1927, at Aurora, Ore., to Daniel Louis and Elizabeth Bertha (Goeble) Anderson, and attended school there.
When he was 26, he moved to Lane County. He had many job experiences before moving here and beginning his family. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1944 to 1946 aboard the USS Stockton, as an Ensign 1st Class. He was a farmer and also an employee of the Lane County Road Department for 19 years. During his employment, he served as road foreman and later as road supervisor.
For many years, he had been active in the VFW organization, presently serving as commander of the local VFW No. 6438 in Dighton. He was given the award of All-State Commander of the VFW for 2000-01.
Mr. Anderson was baptized into the First Christian Church. He enjoyed fishing, reading, playing bingo, cooking and being with his many grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Emma P. (Rebarchek) Anderson, whom he married on March 7, 1954, at Oakley; four sons, Dennis Anderson, Missoula, Mont., Melvin LaVerne Anderson Jr., Healy, John Anderson, Dighton, and Lorenzo Loyola, Garden City; five daughters, Donna Anderson, Anchorage, Alaska, Margaret Coble, Mount Hope, Marie Piscitelli, Newberg, Ore., Elizabeth Inguanza and Carrie Borell, both of Dighton; three brothers, Charles Anderson, Texarkana, Texas, Benjamin Anderson, Roseburg, Ore., and Robert Anderson, Portland, Ore.; two sisters, Marie Miller, Portland, and Nancy Stout, Woodburn, Ore.; 19 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and three sisters.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at First Christian Church, Dighton, with the Revs. Mike Grogan and Kerry Grogan officiating. Burial will be in Shields Cemetery, Shields.
Visitation hours are from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and 9 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Boomhower Funeral Home, Dighton. Memorials are suggested to the Autism Research Institute, in care of the funeral home.
Margie G. Pauley
Margie G. Pauley, 80, died Tuesday, May 22, 2001, at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City.
She was born April 6, 1921, at Miltonvale, the daughter of Leonard S. and Mamie (Brown) McNee.
A Garden City resident since 1960, when she had begun working as a desk clerk for the Red Baron Motel, she was a member of the American Association of Retired Persons. She enjoyed crocheting, crossword puzzles and the computer.
On July 28, 1942, she married Junior "Bud" Forest Pauley at Salina. He died May 8, 1973. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a brother and three sisters.
Survivors include two sons, Lanny F. Pauley, Garden City, and Larry L. Pauley, Sioux Falls, S.D.; three daughters, Cheri M. Renick, Charleston, Linda K. Mader and Vicki L. Salyer, both of Las Vegas.; a sister, Nettie Bauer, Carpinteria, Calif.; 23 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Garnand Funeral Home, Garden City, with the Rev. Jeff Starkey officiating. Cremation will follow the service and a private family burial will take place later in Miltonvale.
Visitation hours are from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the family visiting with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday. Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association, in care of the funeral home, 412 N. Seventh St.
Rosa Schoenberger
Rosa Schoenberger, 90, of Oakley, died Friday, May 18, 2001, at Citizens Medical Center in Colby.
She was born Sept. 17, 1910, at Antonino, the daughter of Carl and Catherine (Leiker) Dechant.
A homemaker, she had lived in the Oakley area for 59 years, moving from Ness City. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church at Oakley.
On Oct. 13, 1931, she married Leo Schoenberger at Grainfield. He died in 1971. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a son, Robert Schoenberger; a stepson, Seraphine Schoenberger; a daughter, Francis Burris; four brothers, Paul, Fabian, Fidelius and Fritz Dechant; and two sisters, Anna Schupman and Mary Schoenberger.
She is survived by four sons, Joe, Frank and Leo Jr., all of Oakley, and Marvin, Garden City; four daughters, Marie Gottschalk, Mesquite, Texas, Louise Asbridge and Pauline Vise, both of Oakley, and Helen Crique, Burlingame; 37 grandchildren; 74 great-grandchildren; and 19 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Kennedy-Koster Funeral Home, Oakley, with the Rev. Bob Kelly officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Oakley.
