Rita Einspahr
Funeral for Rita Einspahr, 65, of Hildreth, Neb., will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Hildreth, with the Rev. Kim Stover officiating. Burial will be in Hildreth Cemetery.
Mrs. Einspahr died Thursday, March 1, 2001, at Evergreen Gardens Assisted Living in Garden City.
She was born Aug. 10, 1935, at Anselmo, Neb., the daughter of Arnold and Cressie (McMahan) Roerich. She grew up in the area of Kearney, Neb.
On July 12, 1952, she married Dallas Einspahr. They made their home in Hildreth, and owned and operated Clint's Tavern since 1963. He died in 1990. She also was preceded in death by her parents.
Mrs. Einspahr enjoyed reading, being outdoors, working with flowers, cooking for her family, and spending time with family and friends. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Hildreth.
She is survived by two sons, Ron Einspahr, Hildreth, and Kevin Einspahr, Alma, Neb.; a daughter, Kim Alexander, Garden City; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Gus Roerich, Twin Falls, Idaho; and a sister, Virginia Ackley, Kearney.
Memorials are suggested to the church, in care of Jelden-Layton Funeral Home, Hildreth.
Lucille C. Perry
Wake service for Lucille C. Perry, 82, of Salina, will be 7:30 tonight at Kennedy-Koster Funeral Home, Oakley. Funeral will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Oakley, with the Rev. Roger K. Meitl officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Oakley.
Mrs. Perry died Saturday, March 3, 2001, at Kenwood View Nursing Center in Salina.
She was born Aug. 4, 1918, at Clyde, the daughter of Steve and Cecilia (Marcotte) Urban.
A lifetime resident of the Oakley area until moving to Salina seven years ago, she had worked as a beautician for 50 years. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, American Legion Auxiliary, Ladies Auxiliary VFW and the National Hairdressers Association. She enjoyed bowling and golfing.
On May 21, 1944, she married Ferney Perry at Oakley. He died Aug. 14, 1972. She also was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Gerald Urban.
Survivors include a son, Richard Perry, and a daughter, Ferna Kay Jennings, both of Salina; a brother, Steve Urban Jr., Garland, Texas; a sister, Bonnie Pracht, Garden City; and five grandchildren.

Gerald E. "Rosie" Rose
SCOTT CITY - Gerald E. "Rosie" Rose, 83, died Thursday, March 1, 2001, at Scott County Hospital in Scott City.
He was born June 26, 1917, at McCracken, the son of A.B. and Lillie (Johnson) Rose.
A Scott City resident since 1926, moving from McCracken, he was a maintenance foreman for K-N Energy until his retirement in 1983. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Scott City Community Golf Course and the Scott County VIP Center, all at Scott City. He enjoyed playing bingo in Scott City, Leoti and Dighton.
Mr. Rose was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II where he served as a tank driver and later, after injuries to his legs, was an X-ray lab technician.
On May 4, 1948, he married Estie Tellus at Liberal. She survives. He is also survived by a son, Duane Rose of Lawrence; a daughter, Vicki Silvey, Scott City; a brother, Donald Rose, Colorado Springs, Colo.; a sister, Elma Henney, Hoisington; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one grandson.
Private family graveside service will be conducted at a later date in Scott County Cemetery, Scott City, with the Rev Lynn Smith officiating.
Visitation hours are from 9 a.m. to noon today at Price & Sons Funeral Home, Scott City. Memorials are suggested to the Scott Community Golf Course or Scott County VIP Center, both in care of the funeral home.
Ila L. Haflich
Ila L. Haflich, 95, died Friday, March 2, 2001, at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City.
She was born Oct. 30, 1905, at Tescott, the daughter of Hugo and Rebecca (Meyer) Minneman.
On March 12, 1924, she married Victor W. Haflich at Fairview. He died Oct. 2, 1967, at Garden City. She was also preceded in death by a son, Earle E. Haflich; a grandson; and three brothers, Ira Minneman, Derrill Minneman and Donald Minneman.
A homemaker, Mrs. Haflich had worked on the family farm. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Garden City and the Kansas Baptist Women's Association, and served on numerous committees and boards for the church.
She was instrumental in raising money for a citizenship building at Rock Springs Ranch (a 4-H Club facility) and served as the state chairperson for the Farm Bureau Women's Association for 20 years. In 1958, she won the Kansas Mother of the Year award. She enjoyed playing bridge and Scrabble and working in her garden.
Survivors include two sons, Neil Haflich and Bernard Haflich, both of Garden City; four daughters, Shirley Jennings, Lakin, Muriel Rome and Barbara Oliver, both of Garden City, and Jane Seibert, Denver; a sister, Dorothy Schmitt, Fairview; 35 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church, Garden City. Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery, Garden City. The Rev. John Williams will be officiating.
Visitation hours are from 5 to 8 tonight and 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Price & Sons Funeral Home, Garden City. Memorials are suggested to the church, in care of the funeral home.
Elvera Francis Larm Johnson
Elvera Francis Larm Johnson, 60, died Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2001, at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City.
She was born May 1, 1940, at St. Francis, the daughter of Henry and Edna (Bryant) Larm. She grew up and attended school there.
After marrying Elmer I. Johnson on Sept. 13, 1957, at Sterling, Colo., she lived in Colorado, mainly in the Merino area, until moving to Garden City in 1977.
While in Garden City, Mrs. Johnson worked at Coffee Ann Restaurant from 1977 to 1993, then went to work at Garden City Sewing & Vacuum and sold Avon products. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, crafts, spending time with family and spoiling her two dogs.
Her husband died May 1, 1990. She also was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Ethel Larm; and two brothers, Howard and Harry Larm.
She is survived by three sons, LeRoy Johnson, Brush, Colo., Darrell Johnson, Goodland, and Keith Johnson, Charlotte, N.C.; three daughters, Betty Myers, Fort Morgan, Colo., Tracy Johnson and Karen Johnson, both of Garden City; two brothers, Harvey Larm, Goodland, and Harold Larm, Garden City; four granddaughters; and five grandsons.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday at Chaney-Walters Funeral Home in Sterling. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Sterling.
Visitation hours are until 8 tonight at Garnand Funeral Home, Garden City.
Robert C. "Bob" Jehlik
Mass of Christian burial for Robert C. "Bob" Jehlik, 56, will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Topeka. Burial will be private.
Mr. Jehlik died Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2001, at his home in Topeka.
He was born Feb. 6, 1945, at Astoria, Ore., the son of Duane and Ethel (Haller) Jehlik. He graduated from Topeka West in 1963 and later graduated from Kansas State University.
He served in the Army National Guard and was called into active duty from May 1968 to August 1969. During his service, he was stationed in Fort Carson, Colo.; Fort Sill, Okla.; and in Korea.
Mr. Jehlik later owned and operated J & T Concrete for 28 years. He was a member of the Topeka Home Builders Association, and was an avid fisherman and outdoorsman.
On Jan. 14, 1967, he married Stefani Schoonover at Topeka. She survives. He also is survived by a son, Heath Jehlik, Wichita; a daughter, Tarah Jehlik, Topeka; and a brother, Kenneth Jehlik, Garden City.
