Cyril F. Wasinger
Vigil service for Cyril F. Wasinger, 73, will be 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at St. Mary Catholic Church, Garden City. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the church, with the Rev. Carlos Garcia-Pena as celebrant. Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery, Garden City, with graveside rites conducted by Garden City Area Veterans Honor Guard.
Mr. Wasinger died Sunday, Jan. 7, 2001, at Kearny County Hospital in Lakin.
He was born May 14, 1927, at St. Peter, the son of John Martin and Odilia Anna (Applehans) Wasinger. He attended school at St. Peter and Holcomb before moving with his family to Finney County in 1939.
A lifelong farmer in Finney County, he served in the U.S. Army in Germany before returning to Finney County. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, a lifetime member of John J. Haskell VFW Post No. 2279 and a 3rd degree member of Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by four brothers, Larry Wasinger, Woodland Park, Colo., Sy Wasinger, Marienthal, Vernon Wasinger, Deerfield, and Ronald Wasinger, Garden City; and three sisters, Marnieta Pile and Anna Mae Stoppel, both of Garden City, and Kathleen Wasinger, Denver. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Leo Wasinger, Richard Wasinger and Cletus Wasinger.
Visitation hours are until 8 tonight and from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday at Garnand Funeral Home, Garden City. Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer's Association, in care of the funeral home.
Jean M. Pfeifer
LEOTI - Jean M. Pfeifer, 74, died Sunday, Jan. 7, 2001, at Via Christi Regional Medical Center, St. Francis Campus, Wichita.
She was born March 23, 1926, in Finney County, the daughter of Dan and Marie (Riffell) Brack.
A homemaker, she had been a lifetime Wichita County resident. She was a member of First Baptist Church, VFW Auxiliary, American Legion, Wichita County Historical Society and Wichita County Genealogical Society, all at Leoti.
On Jan. 30, 1950, she married Bernard Pfeifer. He died in 1968 at Leoti. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, two brothers and two grandchildren.
Survivors include two daughters, Bonnie Fida, Wichita, and Melodee Hoffer, Leoti; a brother, Wayne Brack, Olathe; a sister, Thelma Elder, Leoti; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one stepgreat-grandchild.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church, Leoti, with the Rev. Rick Woolard officiating. Burial will be in Leoti Cemetery.
Visitation hours are from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday and until service time Thursday at Price & Sons Funeral Home, Leoti. Memorials are suggested to the Wichita County Genealogical Society, in care of the funeral home.
Lyman E. Hall
SUBLETTE - Funeral for Lyman E. Hall, 84, of Sublette, will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the United Methodist Church, Sublette, with the Rev. Mary Al Titus officiating. Burial will be in Haskell County Cemetery, Sublette.
Mr. Hall died Saturday, Jan. 6, 2001, at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City.
He was born June 28, 1916, in Ozark County, Mo., the son of John W. and Myrtle (Piland) Hall. He moved from Iuka to Sublette in 1926.
Mr. Hall was a member of the United Methodist Church. He loved his family, enjoyed being around young people and going to ball games, and was a referee at football and basketball games for several years.
He is survived by two sisters-in-law, Eltrude Hall and Helen Hall, both of Sublette; and several nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Herman Hall, Raymond Hall and Ed Hall; and a nephew.

Serona K. Downing
Vigil service for Serona K. Downing, 88, will be 7:30 tonight at Garnand Funeral Home, Garden City, followed by rosary. Funeral Mass will be 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at St. Mary Catholic Church, Garden City, with the Rev. Carlos Garcia Pena officiating. Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery, Garden City.
Mrs. Downing died Saturday, Jan. 6, 2001, at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City.
She was born Nov. 29, 1912, at Russell, the daughter of Grossa S. and Margaret L. (Rumback) Bedker.
Mrs. Downing had lived in Garden City since 1930. A businesswoman, she managed and operated Downing's Restaurant for many years and later worked at the Red Baron before retiring in 1975. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and enjoyed golfing and reading.
On June 14, 1930, she married Lucien R. Downing Sr., in Lamar, Colo. He died March 22, 1976. She was also preceded in death by six brothers and one sister.
Survivors include two sons, Lucien Downing Jr., Columbus, Ohio, and Edwin Downing, Orlando, Fla.; four sisters, Eva Oller, Mesa, Ariz., Lorrie Ardery, Lexington, Okla., Jackie Moore, Edmond, Okla., and Sandy Atkinson, Colorado Springs, Colo.; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Visitation hours are from 5 to 9 tonight and 9 a.m. to noon Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials to the donor's choice may be sent in care of the funeral home.
Mary O. Delgado
Vigil service for Mary O. Delgado, 79, of 309 N. 12th St., was to be 7 p.m. Sunday at St. Mary Catholic Church, Garden City, followed by rosary. Funeral was to be 10:30 this morning at the church, with the Rev. Carlos Garcia Pena officiating. Burial was to be in Valley View Cemetery, Garden City.
Mrs. Delgado died Friday, Jan. 5, 2001, at Garden Valley Retirement Village in Garden City.
She was born Feb. 2, 1925, at Garden City, the daughter of Margarito and Guadalupe (Reyes) Ortiz. As migrant workers, her family traveled to California, and she attended schools there and in Holcomb.
Mrs. Delgado worked in the kitchen at St. Catherine Hospital for many years and was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church. Her hobbies were sewing, embroidery, reading, listening to music, going to garage sales, and spending time with her family and friends.
On Dec. 19, 1953, she married Frank M. Delgado at Raton, N.M. He died Oct. 9, 1977. She was also preceded in death by four brothers and five sisters.
She is survived by a brother, Victor Ortiz, Hays; a sister, Maria Elena Sitz, Dodge City; and several nieces and nephews.

Martin Luther "Lute" Seibel
LEOTI - Funeral for Martin Luther "Lute" Seibel, 87, will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the United Methodist Church, Leoti, with the Rev. Don Koehn officiating. Masonic rites will be provided by Anthem Masonic Lodge. Burial will be in Leoti Cemetery.
Mr. Seibel died Thursday, Jan. 4, 2001, at Via Christi Regional Medical Center, St. Francis Campus, Wichita.
He was born Sept. 1, 1913, at Hillsboro, the son of Conrad C. and Helena (Flaming) Seibel.
A resident of Leoti since 1944, Mr. Seibel was the owner and operator of Seibel Welding in Leoti, retiring in 1990. He was a member of the United Methodist Church and the church choir, both at Leoti, Anthem Masonic Lodge at Scott City, Isis Shrine at Salina and the Wichita Consistory, and was a board member of the Wichita County Airport Authority.
On July 28, 1935, he married Jennie Maxine Ransom at Wakita, Okla. She survives. He is also survived by a daughter, Carol McCoy, Holly, Colo.; a brother, Adolph Seibel, Enid, Okla.; a sister, Emma Wells, Medford, Okla.; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by a son, Monte Seibel, in 1965; and two brothers.
Visitation hours are until 8 tonight at Price & Sons Funeral Home, Leoti. Memorials are suggested to the church, in care of the funeral home.
Jimmie Duane Hicks
SYRACUSE - Graveside service for Jimmie Duane Hicks, 53, was to be 10 MST this morning in Syracuse Cemetery, followed by a family dinner at St. Raphael Catholic Church, Syracuse.
Mr. Hicks died Saturday, Jan. 6, 2001, at Geary Community Hospital in Junction City.
He was born Jan. 19, 1947, at Dodge City, the son of Truman and Catherine (Pittman) Hicks. He graduated from high school in Lamar, Colo., in 1966 and graduated from Northwest Kansas Area Vocational Technical School in 1973 as an automobile mechanic. He served in the U.S. Army from 1966 until 1971, stationed in Vietnam and Germany.
In 1973, he moved from Goodland to Syracuse where he took early retirement in 1998 from the Kansas Department of Transportation where he worked as an equipment mechanic. He enjoyed working with automobiles, drawing pictures and fishing.
On June 19, 1972, he married Susan Marie Rempe at Goodland. She survives. He is also survived by two sons, Thomas S. Hicks, Overland Park, and Timothy Hicks, Derby; his mother and father, both of Goodland; four brothers, Doug Hicks, Pueblo, Colo., Galen Hicks, Hays, Mike Hicks and Dave Hicks, both of Loveland, Colo.; and two sisters, Mary Hicks, Norton, and Sherri Lee, Osborne.
