Doris M. Mayer
SCOTT CITY - Vigil prayer service for Doris M. Mayer, 67, was to be 7 p.m. Sunday at Price & Sons Funeral Home, Scott City. Funeral Mass was to be 10:30 this morning at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Scott City, with the Rev. David Kraus officiating. Burial was to be in Scott County Cemetery, Scott City.
Mrs. Mayer died Friday, Jan. 19, 2001, at her home in Scott City.
She was born Feb. 19, 1933, at Marienthal, the daughter of Albert and Ida D. (Kreutzer) Biel.
A Scott City resident since November 1957, moving from Crowley, Colo., she was a beautician and co-owner of Mayer Liquor Store in Scott City.
Mrs. Mayer was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Altar Society, Daughters of Isabella, Garden Club and the Pink Ladies.
On Jan. 9, 1956, she married Charles W. Mayer at Marienthal. He survives. She is also survived by two sons, Rick Mayer, Brighton, Colo., and Jeff Mayer, Amarillo, Texas; a daughter, Jana Rushton, Holly, Colo.; three brothers, Albert Biel Jr. and Eugene Biel, both of Leoti, and James Biel, Marienthal; and two sisters, Marguerite Berning and Kathryn Berning, both of Leoti. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Memorials are suggested to the church or Scott County Hospital, both in care of the funeral home.
Ivy May Gill
SUBLETTE - Funeral for Ivy May Gill, 74, of Sublette, was to be 10 this morning at the Christian Church, Sublette, with the Rev. David Erwin officiating. Burial was to be in Haskell County Cemetery, Sublette.
Mrs. Gill died Thursday, Jan. 18, 2001, at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City.
She was born Oct. 8, 1926, in Teddington-Middlesex, England, the daughter of Albert and Ellen Marion (Evans) Gatfield.. She and Denver C. Gill were married there on May 6, 1944, and moved to Sublette in 1946.
A homemaker, she helped in the Sublette Hotel and the Crystal Grill Cafe and also worked for the grocery store for 22 years. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, camping and being outdoors.
She is survived by three sons, David Gill, Holcomb, Douglas Gill, Duncan, Okla., and Donald Gill, Americus; a daughter, Teresa Gill, Sublette; and nine grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Dorothy Louise Barton
Memorial service for Dorothy Louise Barton, 68, will be 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Community Room at Mira Vista Apartments in Garden City.
She died Thursday, Jan. 18, 2001, at her home in Garden City.
Born Jan. 8, 1933, at Leavenworth, to Hoyt Stanford and Elizabeth Martha (Thorton) Gere, she grew up there.
A resident of Wyoming and Idaho before moving to Garden City in 1970, she worked in housekeeping at St. Catherine Hospital and was an aide at the Community Day Care Center. She enjoyed old-time western music and sang in her family band in her early years. She also enjoyed taking care of her cats.
She spent 32 years with her partner, Gordon Moutray, before his death.
Survivors include a sister, Betty Jean Gilmore, Eden Prairie, Minn.
Memorials are suggested to Mira Vista Apartments, in care of Garnand Funeral Home, Garden City.
Michael Shane Dysinger
Funeral for Michael Shane Dysinger, 26, of Wichita and formerly of Potwin, will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Potwin Methodist Church, with the Rev. Robert Brunell Jr. officiating. Burial will be 11 a.m. Wednesday in Hooker (Okla.) Cemetery.
Mr. Dysinger died Saturday, Jan. 20, 2001, at Wichita.
He was born Aug. 25, 1974, at Wichita, the son of David Dysinger and Pattye (Thompson) Cleaton. He attended grade school at Kendrick, Okla., and graduated from Fredric Remington High School in rural Whitewater.
Mr. Dysinger was in the U.S. Air Force and was stationed at McConnell Air Force Base in Wichita.
On Sept. 30, 2000, he married Denise Long at Eureka Springs, Ark. She survives. He is also survived by a son, Brendan Dysinger, Phoenix; his father, Potwin; his mother, Bartlesville, Okla.; and a sister, Gina Powe, Garden City.
Visitation hours are from 7 to 8:30 tonight at Bob Lamb Funeral Home, Whitewater.
Aaron Ray Estabrook
Funeral for Aaron Ray Estabrook, 55, of Dodge City, was to be 10:30 this morning at Wilroads Gardens Christian Church, Dodge City, with the Rev. Jeff Hiers officiating. Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Saturday in Iola Township Cemetery, Iola.
Mr. Estabrook died Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2001, at Western Plains Medical Complex in Dodge City.
He was born Nov. 21, 1945, at St. Joseph, Mo., the son of Edwin Elbert and Claudia Marie Estabrook.
A fireman and paramedic with the Ford County Fire Department from 1974 to 1987, he graduated from Western Illinois University in 1989 with a bachelor's degree in fire science. He served as president of the firefighters local union and joined the Arkansas City Fire Department in 1987 where he was a fireman before retiring in 1991.
He then graduated from Southwestern College, Winfield, in 1993 with a bachelor's degree in social work and had been employed by United Methodist Youthville in Dodge City.
Mr. Estabrook was a board member of Kiwanis International, attended Wilroads Gardens Christian Church and the United Methodist Church, and was a member of the Lions Club, all at Dodge City, belonged to the Kansas State Firefighters Association, was a former president of the Firefighters Ford County Union, a former member of the Kansas State Board of Emergency Medical Services, a CPR trainer, and a swine leader for Wilroads Gardens 4-H Club.
He married Sandra Amos of Garden City. She survives. He is also survived by a son, Aaron Ray Estabrook Jr., of the home; two daughters, Jennifer Estabrook, Dodge City, and Petra Williams, Emporia; a brother, Jerry Estabrook, and a sister, Judy McCullum, both of Pryor, Okla.; two grandsons; and one granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, James Dean Estabrook; and an infant sister, Rachael Ann.
Memorials are suggested to United Methodist Youthville or the Kansas State Firefighters Association, both in care of Swaim Funeral Home, Dodge City.
Kenneth L. "Okie" Gates
Kenneth L. "Okie" Gates, 78, died Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2001, at Garden Valley Retirement Village in Garden City.
He was born Jan. 16, 1923, at Taloga, Okla., the son of William Roy and Anna Marie (Holmquist) Gates.
Mr. Gates had been owner and operator of a salvage yard in Garden City.
On Dec. 15, 1993, he married Willie Mae Lawson at Burlington, Colo. She died April 29, 1998.
There will be no visitation. A private burial will take place later in Valley View Cemetery, Garden City. Garnand Funeral Home, Garden City, is in charge of arrangements.
Larry Lee Turner
Funeral for Larry Lee Turner, 39, will be 7 p.m. Friday at Price & Sons Funeral Home, Garden City, with Leland Jackson officiating. A second service will begin at 2 p.m. Saturday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Oakley, with the Rev. Theodore Cook officiating. Burial will be in Gove Cemetery, Gove.
Mr. Turner died Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2001, at his home in Garden City.
He was born June 1, 1961, at Quinter, the son of Wesley James and Hannah Esther (Mai) Turner. A resident of Garden City since 1979, moving from Grinnell, he was a truck driver.
Mr. Turner was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie No. 3124 and Sons of the American Legion.
He is survived by two brothers, Henry A. Turner and Harry A. Turner, both of Garden City; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Visitation hours are until 8 tonight and from 9 a.m. until service time Friday at the funeral home. Memorials to the Larry Turner Memorial Fund may be sent in care of the funeral home, 620 N. Main St.
