Russell Eugene Hankins
Russell Eugene Hankins, 68, of Katy, Texas, died Friday, Dec. 15, 2000, in Katy.
Mr. Hankins was born Aug. 29, 1932, in Holcomb to David and Naomi (Vandolah).
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Mr. Hankins is survived by his wife, Marion Hankins, of Katy; two sons, John Hankins of Houston and Rusty Hankins of Schulenburg, Texas; one daughter, Vicki Hankins of Katy; one brother, Joe Hankins of Holcomb; five sisters, Marjorie Smith, Maxine Siaz, Shirley Talbot, Sue Near, all of Garden City, and Peggy Flynn of Rockwood, Texas; and three grandchildren.
The service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Schmidt Funeral Home Chapel in Katy, Texas.
Aaron Daniel Sander
Aaron Daniel Sander, 29, of Wichita died Friday, Dec. 15, 2000, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.
Mr. Sander was born Nov. 5, 1971, in Liberal to William J. and Judy (Hornung) Sander.
He graduated from Cimarron High School in 1990, attended St. Mary of the Plains College in Dodge City and eventually received a finance degree from Wichita State University. Recently, he resigned from a job he had held for three years at Koch Industries as a financial analyst. Mr. Sander planned to attend seminary and was very active in church and youth organizations at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Wichita.
Mr. Sander is survived by his parents; one sister, Amber Jarnagin of Cimarron; one brother, Austin Sander of Hays; his maternal grandmother, Wilna Hornung of Spearville; and paternal grandparents, William O. and Marianna Sander of Dodge City.
The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Sacred Heart Cathedral in Dodge City, with the Rev. Joe Strasser presiding. A vigil will be Monday at 7 p.m. in the Sacred Heart Cathedral.
Visitation is from 1 to 6 p.m. Monday at Swaim Funeral Home in Dodge City.
Memorials may be sent in lieu of flowers to the Spiritual Life Center of Wichita.
Quentin Nicholas Martin
Quentin Nicholas Martin, 76, of Hugoton died Friday, Dec. 15, 2000, in Stevens County Hospital in Hugoton.
Mr. Martin was born Oct. 28, 1924, in Nashville, Kan., to Joseph P. and Philomena (Reichenberger) Martin.
He moved from Andale to the Hugoton area in 1951. Since then, Mr. Martin had been a farmer, custom harvester and a businessman in trucking and retail.
Mr. Martin was a member of St. Helen Catholic Church, a charter member of Kiwanis Club, member of the National Corn Growers Association and Southwest Kansas Royalty Owners Association. Mr. Martin also was active in Boy Scouts of America and a Fourth Degree member of Knights of Columbus.
He married Genevieve Sluder on July 14, 1951, in Wathena. She survives.
Other survivors include six sons, Ronald Martin, Douglas Martin, James Martin, William B. Martin, all of Hugoton, Thomas Martin of Booker, Texas, and Don Martin of Omaha, Neb.; three daughters, Elaine Rowden, Marilyn Martin and Garilyn Miller, all of Hugoton; two brothers, Larry Lee Martin of Hugoton and Kenneth B. Martin of Greeley, Colo.; three sisters, Almeda Marx of Colwich, Mary K. Becker of Clearwater and Goldie French of Winfield; and 19 grandchildren.
The service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Helen Catholic Church, with the Rev. Francis Khoi Nguyen officiating. Rosary and vigil services will be Monday at 8 p.m. at St. Helen Catholic Church.

Mark J. Hoskinson
Mark J. Hoskinson, 80, of Ottawa died Friday, Dec. 15, 2000, at his home.
He was born on Dec. 5, 1920, in Moscow to Jess E. and Lucy (Gray) Hoskinson. He grew up in the Hugoton area and attended Moscow schools. He was a heavy road construction superintendent for most of his career working in Garden City, Liberal and Ulysses, among other places. Mr. Hoskinson retired in 1986 and enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with his family.
Mr. Hoskinson was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and a member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Ottawa, VFW Post 5901 in Ottawa, and a former member of Garden City's American Legion.
He married Toledo L. Hazen on March 18, 1944, in Ottawa. She died on May 11, 1977. On June 30, 1978, he married Mary J. Runnels in Garden City. She survives.
Other survivors include one son, Larry Hoskinson of Mulvane; one daughter, Sandy Howard of Ulysses; one stepdaughter, Glenda Sowinski of Fond du Lac, Wisc.; one stepson, Leonard Runnels of Lakewood, Colo.; two sisters, Juanita Adair of Ulysses and Jeanie McCloud of Ottawa; and five grandchildren.
One brother, James Hoskinson, and one sister, Thelma Foster, preceded him in death.
The service will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Valley View Cemetery
in Garden City with military honors. Visitation will be from 6 to 7 p.m. Monday at Lamb-Roberts-Heise Funeral Home in Ottawa.

Delores M. Suppes
SCOTT CITY - Vigil prayer service for Delores M. Suppes, 71, will be 7 p.m. Sunday at Price & Sons Funeral Home, Scott City. Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Scott City, with the Revs. David Kraus and Francis Khoi Nguyen officiating. Burial will be in Scott County Cemetery, Scott City.
Mrs. Suppes died Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2000, at Presbyterian St. Luke's Medical Center in Denver.
She was born Dec. 9, 1929, at Loretto, the daughter of Anton and Pauline (Hertel) Engel.
A homemaker, she had been a resident of Scott City for 47 years. She worked at the IGA food store, for the USD No. 466 in food service, and for the City of Scott City from 1973 until 1993 as assistant to the city clerk and later as the city clerk.
Mrs. Suppes was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church where she served on the Altar Society and belonged to Daughters of Isabella. She was a member of the 100 Club for many years, a Scott City bowling league and the Association of the City Clerks, receiving the State Clerk Award in May 1993 from the International Institute of Municipal Clerks. Her favorite activities included dancing, playing bridge, and attending bingo with her friends and family.
On Feb. 28, 1949, she married Primus J. Suppes at Loretto. He survives. She is also survived by a son, Ron Suppes, Scott City; three daughters, Nancy Gerstner, Garden City, Debra Reystead, Haswell, Colo., and Karen Gibbs, Scott City; two brothers, Edwin Engel, Loretto, and Clem Engel, Norton; five sisters, Rosie Evans, Martina Herman and Marcella Klein, all of Hays, Sister Mary Rose Engel, O.P., Great Bend, and Jane Penka, Palm Springs, Calif.; 12 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Alex Engel and Paul Engel.
Visitation hours are from 2 to 8 p.m. today and 1 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to St. Joseph Catholic Church or the Heart Failure/Cardiac Program at Presbyterian St. Luke's in Denver, both in care of the funeral home.
Helen Mary Koerperich
Helen Mary Koerperich, 87, of Garden City died Thursday, Dec. 14, 2000, in Kansas Heart Hospital in Wichita.
Koerperich was born in Leipzig, Germany Jan. 22, 1913 to Bernard Jaster and Marie (Pierdzioch) Jaster.
She moved to Dresden, Kan., in 1923 and eventually made it to Garden City in 1992.
Koerperich got her GED in 1976 and was a homemaker for most of her life. She was also a member of St. Mary's Church, St. Jude's Altar Society and Senior Citizens RSVP.
Koerperich liked to spend time with needlework, reading and gardening and loved children.
On Sept. 10, 1930, she married Bernard Koerperich in Seldon, he died earlier.
Koerperich is survived by four sons, Richard Koerperich of Selden, Eddie Koerperich of Newport Beach, Calif., James Koerperich of Garden City and Donald Koerperich of Topeka; four daughters, Agnes Swank of Garden City, Leona Rogers of Belleville, Bernadette Austin of Garden City and Judy Sloan of Pawhuska, Okla.; one brother, John Jaster of Chico, Calif.; and 43 grandchildren and 66 great-grandchildren.
One brother, Bernard Jaster, and six grandchildren died earlier.
Services will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Church in Selden with the Rev. James Hoover, the Rev. Bill Surmeier and Sister Marilyn Wall presiding. Burial will follow in Selden Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 1-8 p.m. Sunday and 8-10 a.m. Monday at Pauls Funeral Home in Selden. A vigil service will be held Sunday at 5 p.m. at the funeral home.
