Blanche Baber
TRIBUNE - Funeral for Blanche Baber, 90, will be 10 a.m. MDT Thursday at the United Methodist Church, Tribune, with the Rev. Keith Fink officiating. Burial will be in Greeley County Cemetery, Tribune.
Mrs. Baber died Saturday, Dec. 23, 2000, at Greeley County Hospital in Tribune.
She was born May 9, 1910, at Conway Springs, the daughter of Frank C. and Henrietta (Bawter) Miles. She graduated from Friends University in Wichita in 1930 and taught in Kingman County for two years.
A homemaker, she had been a Greeley County resident since 1946. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Progressive Club and the Greeley County Historical Society.
On May 19, 1933, she married Everett "Red" Baber at Cunningham. He died Dec. 27, 1980, at Garden City. She was also preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
She is survived by a son, Brock Baber, Tribune; a sister, Burnice Poland, Newton; and two grandchildren.
Visitation hours are until 8 tonight at Price & Sons Funeral Home, Tribune. Memorials are suggested to the church, in care of the funeral home.
Andrea Renee Diercks
Andrea Renee Diercks, the infant daughter of Gary G. Diercks and Michelle R. Uribe of Garden City, was stillborn Thursday, Dec. 21, 2000, at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by a sister, Valerie Uribe, of the home; her grandparents, Mike and Debbie Diercks, Perryton, Texas, and the Rev. Nicolas and Edna Robledo, Garden City; her great-grandparents, Bonita Crawford, Perryton, and Lou Diercks, Seiling, Okla.; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in Valley View Cemetery, Garden City, with Elias Moreno officiating.
Garnand Funeral Home, Garden City, is in charge of arrangements.
Cipriana T. Garcia
Vigil service for Cipriana T. Garcia, 86, Garden City, will be 7 p.m. Tuesday at St. Mary Catholic Church, Garden City. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church, with the Rev. James E. Baker officiating. Burial will be at Valley View Cemetery
in Garden City.
Mrs. Garcia died Friday, Dec. 22, 2000, at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City. She was born on July 24, 1914, at Moore, Texas, to Steven and Emilia (Rodriguez) Trevino.
Until 1963, Mrs. Garcia lived in Texas and New Mexico before moving to Garden City. She was a migrant worker in the fields during her younger years. She was a homemaker and devoted to her family activities. Mrs. Garcia also enjoyed fishing, quilting and gardening.
Mrs. Garcia was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and Cursillista of St. Mary Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, six brothers, one sister and one great-grandson.
She is survived by her husband, Louis; son Phillip Garcia, Grand Junction, Colo.; two daughters, Jaunita Gonzalez, Garden City, and Oliva Trevino, Elvira, Texas; a brother, Benny Trevino, Phoenix; a sister, Augustina Vidourri, San Antonio; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be sent to St. Mary Catholic Church in care of Garnand Funeral Home. Calling hours are: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday; 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday at Garnand Funeral Home.
Nina M. Porter
Burial for Nina M. Porter, 100, Garden City, will be in Tahlequah, Okla., in a private family service.
Mrs. Porter died Thursday, Dec. 21, 2000, at Garden Valley Retirement Village in Garden City. She was born October 17, 1900, to John Andrew and Emmaline (Dobbs) Burk. She married David L. Porter Oct. 5, 1919, at Davidson, Okla. He died Sept. 4, 1953.
Mrs. Porter moved to Garden City from Albuquerque, N.M. in 1987. She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, eight brothers, one sister and one daughter, Emma Jane Visic. Her special interests were sewing and her church activities. She belonged to the Church of Christ in Garden City.
Survivors include: three daughters, Ruth Phillips, San Diego, Nina Lance and Norma Lunz, both of Sun City West, Ariz.; one son, Dale Porter; Newkirk, Okla.; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be sent to the Community Congregational Church of Garden City in care of Garnand Funeral Home. The funeral home is in charge of the arrangements.
Tressa A. Griffith
SCOTT CITY - Funeral for Tressa A. Griffith, 82, will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, Scott City, with the Rev. Lynne Smith officiating. Burial will be in Scott County Cemetery, Scott City.
Mrs. Griffith died Thursday, Dec. 21, 2000, at Park Lane Nursing Home in Scott City.
She was born July 26, 1918, in Scott County, the daughter of Charlie E. and Flossie B. (Ryan) Conine. A lifetime resident of Scott City, she was a homemaker.
Mrs. Griffith was a member of First Baptist Church, El Quartelejo Study Club, American Legion Auxiliary, American Baptist Women, Better Home EHU and the BW Club, and was a Manning Jayhawkers 4-H Club project leader.
On Dec. 14, 1940, she married Wayne Griffith at Wichita. He survives. She is also survived by a son, Charles Griffith, Scott City; a daughter, Janet Kimball, Ulysses; two sisters, Freda Asmundson, Seal Beach, Calif., and Waneta Whitham, Leoti; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Jimmy R. Griffith; three brothers; and five sisters.

Merrilee G. Hensley
Vigil service for Merrilee G. Hensley, 57, of Des Moines, Iowa, will be 7:30 p.m. Friday at Burkhart Funeral Chapel, Dodge City. Funeral Mass will be 9 a.m. Saturday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Dodge City, with the Rev. Ted A. Skalsky officiating. Burial will be in Greencrest Memorial Gardens, Dodge City.
Mrs. Hensley died Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2000, at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines.
She was born Sept. 30, 1943, the daughter of James Arthur and Billie Jean (Hanson) McGuin. A Dodge City resident for most of her life, moving to Des Moines in 1999, she was a homemaker.
She is survived by a son, Shannon Hensley, Des Moines; three daughters, Michelle McCollough, Waco, Texas, Darla Palmer, Garden City, and Sara Wright, Des Moines; and eight grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Karen J. Baker.

Pearl Sara Acevedo
Vigil service for Pearl Sara Acevedo, 38, of 1305 Yucca Drive, will be 7 p.m. Friday at St. Mary Catholic Church, Garden City, followed by rosary. Funeral will be 9 a.m. Saturday at the church, with the Rev. James E. Baker officiating. Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery, Garden City.
Mrs. Acevedo died Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2000, in Garden City.
Born Jan. 12, 1962, at Pomona, Calif., she was the daughter of Sandra Gallegos.
Having lived most of her life in California, she was a resident of Liberal for four years before moving to Garden City in 1998. She was a production worker for IBP for the past year and attended St. Mary Catholic Church. Her hobbies were playing cards and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
In 1980, she married Juan Manuel Acevedo at Santa Ana, Calif. He survives. She is also survived by a son, Manuel Acevedo, and four daughters, Crystal Acevedo, Darlene Acevedo, Pearl Acevedo and Graciela Acevedo, all of the home; three grandchildren; her mother, Sandra Dennage, Anaheim, Calif.; a brother, John Ortiz, California; and three sisters, Norma Lopez, Riverside, Calif., Irene Ramirez, Garden Grove, Calif., and Sheila Terry, Anaheim.
Visitation hours are from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday at Garnand Funeral Home, Garden City. Memorials to the Pearl Acevedo Children Memorial Fund may be sent in care of the funeral home.
Joan M. Morales
Funeral for Joan M. Morales, 76, will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Garnand Funeral Home, Garden City, with the Rev. James E. Baker officiating. Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery, Garden City.
Miss Morales died Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2000, at Terrace Garden Care Center in Garden City.
She was born July 26, 1924, at Garden City, the daughter of Antonio and Josefa (Martinez) Morales. A lifetime resident of Garden City, she was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church.
Survivors include two sisters, Margaret Ornelas and Rose Ramirez, and a brother, Joe Morales, all of Garden City. She was preceded in death by seven sisters and two brothers.
