Ronald L. Taylor
SYRACUSE - Funeral for Ronald L. Taylor, 49, will be 2 p.m. MST Wednesday at the First United Methodist Church, Syracuse. Prior to the service, a flower card reading will start at 11 a.m., followed by a family dinner at the church at 11:30 a.m. Burial will be in Syracuse Cemetery.
Mr. Taylor died Sunday, Oct. 22, 2000, at Via Christi Regional Medical Center, St. Francis Campus, Wichita.
He was born Jan. 19, 1951, at Garden City, the son of Elmer Taylor and Eloise Bilbery-Taylor. He graduated from Syracuse High School in 1970.
A resident of Syracuse and Hamilton County for 39 years, having also lived in Kearny County, he was an insurance agent.
On June 11, 1971, he married Sue Lynette Urton. In 1989, they opened and operated the Taylor Agency in Syracuse and also own the Classic Car Wash in Syracuse, which opened in 1987. They previously farmed, ranched and owned a feedlot near Syracuse from 1970 to 1987.
Mr. Taylor was an active member and served on the board for Pioneer Communications, and was a member of the Kansas Association of Insurance Agents, Experimental Aircraft Association, Kansas Livestock Association, National Rifle Association, Moose Lodge, the Deuce Club at Tamarisk Golf Course and the Hamilton County Gun Club. He was a private pilot and enjoyed flying airplanes, riding motorcycles, golfing, bowling, cooking, hunting, fishing and snowmobiling.
As a final contribution to his fellow man, Mr. Taylor was an organ donor to Midwest Transplant of Wichita.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Amber Foley and Tara Taylor, both of Syracuse, and Jill Kerschen, Wichita; a sister, Sharon Englert, Syracuse; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Sandra Kay Taylor, on Oct. 16, 1945.
Visitation hours are until 9 MST tonight at Greene-Fellers Funeral Home, Syracuse, and from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. MST Wednesday at the First United Methodist Church, Syracuse. Jack McNeil Elliott Sr.
Funeral for Jack McNeil Elliott Sr., 80, was 11 a.m. Monday at Feltner Chapel, Lyndon. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery, Topeka.
Mr. Elliott died Thursday, Oct. 19, 2000, at his home in Lyndon.
He was born Oct. 6, 1920, at Little Rock, Ark., the son of Nelson P. Sr. and Frances L. (Lefford) Elliott. He graduated from Little Rock High School in 1938.
Mr. Elliott joined the Army Air Corps in 1942, graduated from the Air Corps Cadets in 1944, and served in England and Europe during World War II, and in Guam and Japan during the Korean War.
He returned to the United States and graduated from Air Force Instrument School at Valdosta, Ga., in 1954. He was base operations officer at Cheyenne, Wyo., from 1954 to 1958 and at Forbes Air Force Base in 1958, and served in the Strategic Air Command (SAC) as an instrument instructor and instructor in the KC 97 tanker until his retirement as a major in 1964.
Mr. Elliott had worked for Thatcher Inc. and Conoco Gas Station after his retirement. He was a former member of the American Legion.
He and Lucille C. (Lux) Elliott were married for 27 years before divorcing. On March 23, 1983, he married Wanda Ryan at Springfield, Mo. She survives.
He is also survived by a son, Jack M. Elliott Jr., Topeka; two daughters, Jackie Wallgren, of Logan, and Meredith Currie, Topeka; a sister, Dorothy Cooksey, Lumberton, Texas; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and three stepchildren, Bob Husband, Pierceville, Frank Wigner, Garden City, and Anita Wigner, Topeka. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Vickey Foster, on July 2, 1992; and a brother, Nelson P. Elliott Jr.

Harley R. Rector
DEERFIELD - Harley R. Rector, 96, died Sunday, Oct. 22, 2000, at High Plains Retirement Village in Lakin.
He was born Oct. 4, 1904, at Smithfield, Ill., the son of Beadies Nathan and Daisy (Lundry) Rector. The family moved to a farm north of Deerfield in 1916. He attended a rural school north of Deerfield and attended Salt City Business School in Hutchinson.
When he was in his early 20s, he left the family farm and became a mechanic and a tool and dye maker for more than 20 years. During World War II he worked at the Boeing plant in Wichita, making parts for the Boeing B-29. After returning to Deerfield after the war, he was the city superintendent and county deputy sheriff until retiring in 1971. He then did plumbing and sewer work for area residents.
Mr. Rector was a member of the United Methodist Church of Deerfield and attended Word of Life Church in Garden City. He was a member of the Deerfield Lions Club, and belonged to the Deerfield Volunteer Fire Department for more than 50 years.
On April 27, 1926, he married Louise Miller at Las Animas, Colo. On April 30, 1939, he married Lola Brunker at Lamar, Colo. She died Dec. 5, 1998. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth DeWolfe and Francis Rector; and a brother, Clifford Rector.
He is survived by four daughters, Doris Zubeck, Deerfield, Juanita Peterson, Oakland, Calif., Barbara Cline, Garden City, and Fern Moore, Wichita; two brothers, Blake Rector, Longview, Texas, and Charles Rector, Garden City; a sister, Edith McClure, Dodge City; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Thursday at the United Methodist Church, Deerfield, with the Revs. Charles Stevens Sr. and Warren Hett officiating. Burial will be in Deerfield Cemetery.
Visitation hours are until 8 tonight and from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Garnand Funeral Home, Lakin. Memorials are suggested to High Plains Retirement Village, in care of the funeral home.
Eulah V. Garrison
Johnson CITY - Funeral for Eulah V. Garrison, 90, will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Fields Memorial Wesleyan Church, Johnson City, with the Rev. Dave Kaufmann officiating. Burial will follow in Stanton County Cemetery, Johnson City.
Mrs. Garrison died Saturday, Oct. 21, 2000, at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City.
She was born Dec. 24, 1909, at Eldora, Iowa, the daughter of James R. and Maude (Lamb) Ellison.
Mrs. Garrison had been a Stanton County resident since 1929. She had worked for 16 years in grocery stores in Johnson City including three years for W & R Grocery, four years for Felts Grocery and nine years for Johnson Co-op Grocery, and worked at Stanton County Hospital for 18 years. A homemaker, she was a member of Business Professional Women, Mothers Club, Stanton County Senior Center and Rebekah Lodge, and enjoyed senior dances.
On Jan. 16, 1929, she married William Robert Garrison at Grundy Center, Iowa. He died in 1989. She was also preceded in death by four sisters and two brothers.
She is survived by two sons, Robert K. Garrison, Lincoln, and Jim Garrison, Johnson City; a sister, Anna Horn, Lamar, Colo.; seven grandsons; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Jess Richard Cummings
SUBLETTE - Funeral for Jess Richard Cummings, 78, will be 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Sublette Southern Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dan Pearce officiating. Graveside service will be in Haskell County Cemetery, Sublette, with military rites conducted by Sublette American Legion Post No. 205.
Mr. Cummings died Sunday, Oct. 22, 2000, at his home in Sublette.
He was born Dec. 30, 1921, at Allen, Okla., the son of the Rev. R.N. and Maude (Pounds) Cummings.
Mr. Cummings had lived in Tulsa, Okla., for 40 years prior to moving to Sublette in August 1984. He was a registered professional sanitarian for the Tulsa City/County Health Department and held a lifetime contract with the Federal Food & Drug Administration.
He was a member of Sublette Southern Baptist Church, a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, was an avid golfer, and won a trip to Washington, D.C., when he was an Explorer Scout. His many hobbies included bowling, hunting, fishing, playing softball, coaching little league, and being with his family.
On Oct. 28, 1944, he married Cleo Carlene McAfee at Healton, Okla. She died Jan. 2, 2000. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Ray Cummings; and a sister, Ruth Bowers.
He is survived by a daughter, Jeannie Orth, Sublette; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Ralph Cummings, Edmond, Okla.; a sister, Ruby Click, Tucson, Ariz.; and several nephews and nieces.

Milton Lee Roberts Jr.
Funeral for Milton Lee Roberts Jr., 68, will be 4 p.m. Tuesday at the First United Methodist Church, Garden City, with the Rev. Robert Cousins officiating. Private family burial will be in Valley View Cemetery, Garden City.
Mr. Roberts died Saturday, Oct. 21, 2000, at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City.
He was born Dec. 5, 1931, at Dwight, the son of Milton and Esther (Boettcher) Roberts.
A Garden City resident since the mid-1940s, moving from rural Friend, he was a meter tester for Enron, retiring in 1993.
Mr. Roberts was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the University of Kansas Alumni Association, was past commander of the American Legion in Garden City, and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.
On Aug. 31, 1951, he married Betty Jo Jones at Garden City. She survives. He is also survived by a son, Kurt Roberts, Garden City; a daughter, Andrea Johnsrud, Plains; and six grandchildren.
