Harvey W. Foth
Funeral for Harvey W. Foth, 75, of Hillsboro, will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Hillsboro Mennonite Brethren Church, with the Rev. Bob Fenstermacher officiating. Burial will be in Hillsboro Mennonite Brethren Cemetery.
Mr. Foth died Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2000, at Hillsboro Community Medical Center.
He was born May 23, 1925, at Hillsboro, the son of Herman F. and Sara (Kasper) Foth.
Mr. Foth had been employed as a oil field operator in a managerial position. He was a member of Hillsboro Mennonite Brethren Church.
On Nov. 20, 1945, he married Dorothy Nickel in rural Goessel. She survives. He is also survived by a son, Steven Foth, Garden City; a daughter, Diane Post, Halstead; a brother, Eugene Foth, Worthington, Minn.; a sister, Rubena Ediger, Inman; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Visitation hours are from 6 to 8 tonight at Hillsboro Memorial Chapel. Memorials are to the church, in care of the memorial chapel.
Ronald Ray Boone
DIGHTON - Funeral for Ronald Ray Boone, 71, was to be at 11 this morning at Andrews Caldwell Gibson Funeral Home in Castle Rock, Colo. Burial was to be in Elizabeth (Colo.) Cemetery.
Mr. Boone died Sunday, Sept. 3, 2000, at his home in Kiowa, Colo.
Born at Dighton on June 15, 1929, he was the son of Ray and Wilma (VanFleet) Boone.
A rancher, Mr. Boone had lived in the Elbert County area since 1954 and was a member of the Colorado Cattleman's Association. He enjoyed his children and granddaughters, his farming and cattle, and caring for his equipment.
He is survived by a son, Randy Boone, and a daughter, Ronda Reim, both of Elizabeth; two granddaughters; and a brother, Eugene Boone, Kalvesta. He was preceded in death by a brother, Derril Dean Boone.
James "Jim" McWilliams
James "Jim" McWilliams, 94, died Thursday, Sept. 7, 2000, at Terrace Garden Care Center in Garden City.
He was born May 9, 1906, at Englewood, N.J., the son of Alexander and Mary (Greenlees) McWilliams. The family moved from Los Angeles to Dighton when he was 10. He farmed with his parents southwest of Dighton until moving to Garden City in 1954.
Mr. McWilliams was a charter member of Bible Christian Church, and a life member of Garden City Masonic Lodge, being an expert in its rituals and receiving an unlimited certificate of proficiency in 1949 from the Grand Lodge of Kansas, an honor authorizing him to instruct lodges throughout the state.
He was a life member of the Scottish Rite of Free Masonry in Kansas City; a lifetime and charter member of the American Pistol & Rifle Association, serving as an official; and was a lifetime member of the National Association to Keep and Bear Arms, serving on its National Advisory Board and receiving its Freedom Award in 1978. He was a leader of the local John Birch Society Chapter and was known in many parts of the country for his patriotic work on behalf of the constitutional republic.
On Dec. 26, 1954, he married Catherine E. Wiebe. She died Jan. 10, 1988.
He is survived by a sister, Martha Mott, Evergreen, Colo.; a nephew; and a niece.
Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Garnand Funeral Home, Garden City, with the Rev. Charles Stevens officiating. Burial will be in Dighton Memorial Cemetery.
Visitation hours are from noon to 8 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials to the James McWilliams Memorial Fund may be sent in care of the funeral home.
Jack W. Cohoon
Funeral for Jack W. Cohoon, 76, of Dodge City, will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at First Christian Church, Dodge City, with Larry Williams and Charley Greer officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Dodge City, with military graveside rites conducted by Howard Gotschall Post No. 1714 VFW.
Mr. Cohoon died Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2000, at Western Plains Medical Complex in Dodge City.
He was born Oct. 23, 1923, at Dodge City, the son of Leonard William and Elsie G. (Wilkison) Cohoon. He graduated from Dodge City High School and Dodge City Community College. During World War II, he served as a U.S. Army medic in the European Theatre.
Mr. Cohoon owned Cohoon's Hobby & Handicraft in Dodge City for 25 years. He then served as executive director of the Housing Authority of Dodge City for 20 years before retiring in 1986. He was a member of First Christian Church and the Dodge City Gun Club, and was a life member of Howard Gotschall Post No. 1714 VFW and the American Trap Association.
On April 17, 1946, he married Phyllis C. Kramer at Dodge City. She survives. He is also survived by two sons, Dr. Kelly Cohoon, Dodge City, and Larry Cohoon, Derby; a daughter, Vicki Jean Sundberg, Garden City; three sisters, Virginia Whitley and Joan Stelle, both of Dodge City, and Colene Cobb, Spearville; and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter.
Visitation hours are until 8 tonight at Swaim Funeral Home, Dodge City. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society or American Heart Association, both in care of the funeral home.
Connie Cooley
Former Garden City resident Connie Cooley died Saturday, Sept. 1, 2000, at St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City, Mo. She died of heart failure.
Her husband, Leroy, preceded her in death.
She is survived by four children, Kay Aron, Kansas City, Mo., Roger Cooley, Garden City, Keith Cooley, Greeley, Colo., and Lisa Robie, Roeland Park; 10 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
There will be a Celebration of Life at John Knox Village Chapel, Lee's Summit, Mo., Sept. 17, 2000, at 2 p.m.
Mary E. Hutton
Mary E. Hutton, 82, died Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2000, at the Western Prairie Care Home in Ulysses. She was born July 24, 1918, in Lake City, Fla., the daughter of Gordon and Mattie Brady. She was a homemaker and had been a resident of Pierceville since 1946, moving from Sarasota, Fla.
Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 7, 2000, at Price & Sons Funeral Home, Garden City, the Rev. Dale Clare officiating. Internment will be at Valley View Cemetery.
On Aug. 23, 1943, she married Willis Earl Hutton at Sarasota, Fla. He survives. Other survivors include a brother, Hugh Brady of Boston.
Calling times are 1 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Price & Sons Funeral Home. Memorials may be given to the Western Prairie Care Home in care of Price & Sons Funeral Home, Garden City.
Alfred R. Beltran
Alfred R. Beltran, 64, died Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2000, at his home in Garden City.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 8, 2000, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Rev. Oreste Huerta officiating. Burial will be at Valley View Cemetery.
Mr. Beltran was born May 1, 1936, in Holcomb the son of Manuel Raymond Beltran Sr. and Sarah (Calderson) Beltran. He graduated from Garden City High School and was an Air Force veteran, serving four years. He married Theresa Medina on June 24, 1961, in Garden City. She survives.
He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and he worked for Central Power for five years, Burtis Motor body shop department for 23 years. He owned and operated Beltran Body Shop for 22 years. His hobbies were watching television, especially wrestling, his Kansas City Chiefs team, fishing and working outside in his yard. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.
Survivors include three sons, Alfred Beltran Jr., Wichita, and Tim and Ted Beltran, both of Garden City; two daughters, Melissa Guerrero, Garden City, and Misty Beltran, Topeka; two brothers, Manuel Beltran Jr., Garden City, and Nick Beltran, Riverside, Calif.; five sisters, Tessie Kuypers, Santa Anna, Calif., Rita Herrera, Esther Perez and Caverly Rojas, all of Garden City, and Geri Gomez, Liberal; eight grandchildren.

Elsie M. Wishon
Funeral for Elsie M. Wishon, 87, was to be 2 p.m. today at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness, Garden City, conducted by the English Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. Burial was to be in Deerfield Cemetery.
Mrs. Wishon died Monday, Sept. 4, 2000, at St. Catherine Hospital.
She was born Feb. 5, 1913, in Gasconade County, Mo., where she grew up, the daughter of Fredrick William Borlisch and Edna Marie Branson. The family lived in various places before moving to Garden City in 1948.
Mrs. Wishon was a member of the English Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses, Garden City. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with family and friends.
On April 12, 1930, she married Raymond A. Wishon Sr., at Rolla, Mo. He died Jan. 9, 1971. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a son, Marion Joseph Wishon; two daughters, Dorothy Shipley and Deloris Miller; a brother, Otto Borlisch; three sisters, Mary Mistler, Sophia Mathis and Nora Horn; and six grandchildren.
She is survived by three sons, Raymond "Bud" Wishon Jr., Holcomb, Arnold Wishon, Garden City, and Chester Wishon, Hampton, Va.; four daughters, Leeta Dingus and Pat Baier, both of Holcomb, Marietta Burtis, Garden City, and Loretta Wishon, of the home; a brother, Jim Snodgrass, Rolla; a sister, Laura Brown, Charlotte, Mich.; 41 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; and 20 great-great-grandchildren.
