Rose Emmaline Duff
Funeral for Rose Emmaline Duff, 83, of Salina, will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Ryan Mortuary, Salina, with the Rev. Paul Robbins officiating. Inurnment will take place later.
Mrs. Duff died Sunday, Aug. 13, 2000, at the Good Samaritan Home in Minneapolis, Kan.
She was born April 15, 1917, at Cushing, Okla., the daughter of Robert D. and Mary L. (Burns) Ellis.
A homemaker, she was a member of Order of the Eastern Star, American Association of Retired Persons, Salina H.D.U., Locust Grove (Okla.) Methodist Church and Ladies of the Moose. Her hobbies included playing the piano, cooking, crafts and fishing.
On Nov. 1, 1937, she married John "Vic" Duff at Cushing. He died in 1991.
She is survived by two sons, Gary Duff, Salina, and Sammy Duff, Liberty, Mo.; a daughter, Phyllis Welton, Garden City; 10 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
There will be no visitation. Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer's Foundation, in care of the mortuary, 137 N. Eighth St., Salina, KS 67401.
Jack W. Tye
HOLCOMB - Jack W. Tye, 65, of Holcomb, died Saturday, Aug. 12, 2000, at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City.
He was born March 6, 1935, at El Dorado Springs, Mo., the son of Josh and Evelyn (Root) Tye. He grew up and attended schools there.
Mr. Tye had lived for the most part in Garden City, since the mid to late 1960s. He enjoyed reading and drawing. A welder, he had worked for Western Bit and Reamer Service and then for Henkle Drilling and Supply Co. He served in the Army Air Corp during the Korean conflict.
He is survived by a son, Steve Tye, Emporia; a daughter, Carol Tye, Fredericktown, Ohio; a brother, Josh Tye Jr., Florida; and four grandchildren.
A private family memorial service will take place later in Missouri. There will be no visitation. Memorials are suggested to Friends of Lee Richardson Zoo, in care of Garnand Funeral Home, Garden City.
Mary Ann Hoover
SCOTT CITY - Funeral for Mary Ann Hoover, 66, will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at First Christian Church, Scott City, with the Rev. John Warring officiating. Burial will be in Scott County Cemetery, Scott City.
Mrs. Hoover died Friday, Aug. 11, 2000, at Scott County Hospital in Scott City.
She was born Nov. 27, 1933, at Hominy, Okla., the daughter of Howard Otis and Genevieve Blanche (McDougal) Wikle.
A Scott City resident since 1955, moving from Great Bend, she was active in Scott City with numerous activities and groups. She was a homemaker, writer, poet and also wrote a column in a local paper.
Mrs. Hoover was a member of First Christian Church, American Association of University Women, Hospital Auxiliary, Garden Club, EHU, Music Club, CWF (local and state) and ESA sorority.
On Oct. 14, 1956, she married Harold Hoover at Scott City. He survives. She is also survived by a daughter, Melissa Erikson, Summerville, S.C.; a son, Eric Hoover, Pleasantville, N.J.; a sister, Billi Gene Snell, Bennington, Okla.; a brother, Howard O. Wikle II, Castro Valley, Calif.; and four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Sarah Ann.

Donna Bamberger Wall
SCOTT CITY - Memorial service for Donna Bamberger Wall, 51, will be 4 p.m. Wednesday at Price & Sons Funeral Home, Scott City, with the Rev. Judy Castor officiating. Family graveside services will take place later in Indian HIlls Cemetery, Chapman.
Miss Wall died Sunday, Aug. 13, 2000, at her home in Scott City.
She was born July 3, 1949, at Junction City, the daughter of Donald Wall. She was raised by him and Florence Fender.
A resident of Scott City since 1998, moving from Garden City, she was a homemaker, a member of the Baptist faith and belonged to the VFW Women's Auxiliary.
She is survived by her companion, Lonnie Snow, Scott City; a son, Anthony S. Bamberger, Wichita; a daughter, Adrianna L. Beauleau, Deerfield; a sister, Sandy Martin, Wichita; five grandchildren; one nephew; and one niece.

Meliton Hernandez
Meliton Hernandez, 40, of 340 S. Farmland Road No. 16, died Sunday, Aug. 13, 2000, from injuries suffered in an automobile accident at 9000 S. Pierceville Road in Finney County.
He was born April 3, 1960, at Durango, Mexico, the son of Jose Rosario and Fernanda (Prado) Hernandez.
A Garden City resident since 1985, moving from Mexico, he worked on the kill floor at IBP in Holcomb. He attended St. Mary Catholic Church, and enjoyed going fishing with his sons and spending time with his family.
In 1985, he married Lorenza Juarez at Garden City. She survives. He is also survived by three sons, Meli Hernandez, Alonzo Hernandez and Juan Carlos Hernandez, all of the home; two stepsons, Jesus Montes and Jose Angel Montes, both of Garden City; his parents, Mexico; six brothers, Arturo Hernandez, Garden City, Jose Rosario Hernandez, Juan Hernandez, Arnulfo Hernandez, Fernando Hernandez and Victor Hernandez, all of Mexico; three sisters, Luz Maria Hernandez, Reno, Nev., Marta Hernandez and Cecilia Hernandez, both of Mexico; and his grandparents, Victor and Maria Cruz Acosta Hernandez, Mexico.
Funeral and burial will take place later in Mexico. Visitation hours are from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Garnand Funeral Home, Garden City.
Gary Lawrence Bliss
LAKIN - Funeral for Gary Lawrence Bliss, 50, of Odessa, Texas, will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Northside Baptist Church, Kermit, Texas, with the Rev. Eddie Cotton officiating. Burial will be in Kermit Cemetery.
Mr. Bliss died Sunday, Aug. 13, 2000, at Gardendale, Texas.
He was born May 6, 1950, at Monahans, Texas.
Mr. Bliss had lived in Odessa for one month, previously being a lifetime resident of Kermit. He worked as an oilfield technician for Brandt-Tubescope-Vetco. He was of the Baptist faith.
On June 27, 1999, he married Ina Herrmann at Deming, N.M. She survives. He is also survived by his mother, Ruby Bliss, Kermit; a son, Dennis Bliss, Carlsbad, N.M.; a daughter, Kari Bliss, Kermit; a brother, Jimmy Bliss, Kermit; a sister, Kathy Odom, Lakin; and several nieces and nephews.
Cooper Funeral Chapel Inc., Kermit, is in charge of arrangements.
Sylvia J. Armstrong
Funeral for Sylvia J. Armstrong, 63, of Nashville, Kan., will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Larrison-Forsyth Funeral Home, Medicine Lodge, with the Rev. Tom Walters officiating. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Medicine Lodge.
Mrs. Armstrong died Monday, Aug. 14, 2000, at Via Christi Regional Medical Center, St. Francis Campus, Wichita.
She was born Feb. 20, 1937, at Sharon, the daughter of John V. and Dorothy L. (Stalknaker) Clark. A Nashville resident since 1983, moving from Ashland, she was a homemaker.
On June 26, 1954, she married Max Armstrong at Medicine Lodge. He survives. Other survivors are two sons, Michael P. Armstrong and Jerry W. Armstrong, both of Garden City; a brother, Curtis Clark, Nashville, Kan.; two sisters, Jesse Gaschler, Wichita, and Jean Lackey, Turon; and four grandchildren.
There will be no visitation. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society, in care of the funeral home, 120 E. Lincoln St., Medicine Lodge, KS 67104.
Benjamin W. "Bennie" Taton
SATANTA - Benjamin W. "Bennie" Taton, 87, died Sunday, Aug. 13, 2000, at his home in Satanta.
He was born Aug. 10, 1913, in Franklin County, Okla., the son of Francis Victor and Augusta Ella (Hartley) Taton. The family moved from Oklahoma to the Satanta area in 1916.
A farmer, Mr. Taton was a member of Pleasant Prairie Church of God at Satanta and served on the Dudley Township Election Board for many years.
On Sept. 18, 1936, he married Erma Mildred Meador at Syracuse. She died Dec. 31, 1988. He was also preceded in death by four brothers, Francis Taton, Walter Taton, George Taton and Howard Taton; three sisters, Rose Alexander, Dorothy Blair and Helen Moody; and a grandson.
He is survived by a son, Gary Taton, Satanta; two daughters, Phyllis Lewis, Atoka, Okla., and Anne Apsley, Satanta; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Friday at Pleasant Prairie Church of God, Satanta. Burial will be in Haskell County Cemetery, Sublette.
Visitation hours are from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. today and Thursday at Haskell County Funeral Home, Sublette.
