Ada Genevive Eshnaur
Ada Genevive Eshnaur, 85, of Norwich, died Monday, July 17, 2000, at Kingman Community Hospital.
She was born Nov. 12, 1914, near Alta Vista, the daughter of Albert Newton Allen and Ada May Bell.
A longtime resident of Norwich, she was a former school teacher, had owned Eshnaur's IGA and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Christian Church, Eastern Star and YWCA, all at Norwich.
On May 18, 1941, she married Cecil Eshnaur at Kingman. He survives. She is also survived by a son, Douglas Eshnaur, a longtime Garden City resident before moving to Norwich; a daughter, Elaine Pierce, Wichita; and five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four sisters, Alberta Osborne, Naomi Kathryn McDiffitt, Mildred Martin and LaDelle Kane.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Norwich Christian Church, with the Rev. Jim Playter officiating. Burial will be in Upchurch Cemetery, Norwich.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Memorials are suggested to the church or the Norwich Emergency Medical Technicians, both in care of Livingston Funeral Home, P.O. Box 453, Kingman, KS 67068.
George Cruz Sr.
George Cruz Sr., 62, of Garden City, died Thursday, July 20, 2000, at Via Christi Regional Medical Center, St. Francis Campus, Wichita.
He was born April 3, 1938, at Pasamonte, N.M., the son of Arturo and Dulcinea (Leal) Cruz. He attended schools there before moving with his family to Garden City in 1950 where he finished his schooling and attended Garden City Community College.
Mr. Cruz worked as a machinist for Oswalt Manufacturing Co. and later worked for Simmons Pump before retiring in 1996. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, served in the U.S. Marines during the Korean War from 1955 to 1959, and enjoyed working on cars, traveling, having cookouts with his family and spending time with his family.
On July 20, 1958, he married Dominga "Dee" Servantez at Clayton, N.M. She died April 14, 1997. He was also preceded in death by his father.
He is survived by a son, George Cruz Jr., Garden City; three daughters, Cindy West, Garden City, Alvina Cruz, Dodge City, and Leslie Marie Perez, Holcomb; his mother, Garden City; five brothers, Henry Cruz, Tony Cruz, Arthur Cruz and John Cruz, all of Garden City, and Earnest Cruz, Amarillo, Texas; a sister, Florinda Servantez, Garden City; 13 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Vigil service will be 8 p.m. Monday at St. Mary Catholic Church, Garden City, followed by rosary. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church, with the Rev. Oreste Huerta officiating. Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery, Garden City, with military graveside rites conducted by the Garden City Area Veterans Honor Guard.
Visitation hours are from noon to 8 tonight, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday at Garnand Funeral Home, Garden City.
Cleo Driscoll
SYRACUSE -- Cleo Driscoll, 94, died Sunday, July 23, 2000, at the Hamilton County Hospital in Syracuse.
She was born Nov. 26, 1905, at the family farm north of Glasco, the daughter of Joseph and Florence (Cline) Teasley. She attended Cloud County rural schools and the high school at Glasco.
On June 16, 1927, she married Michael R. Driscoll at the rural home of her parents. She and her husband made their first land purchase in 1929 and later acquired the Wright homestead where they farmed their entire life. They raised cattle, hogs and wheat.
Her husband died April 15, 1994. She was also preceded in death by a son, Michael "Mickey," in 1982; her parents, in 1968; three brothers; and two sisters.
Mrs. Driscoll had lived for the past few years at the Sunflower Square Apartments in Syracuse, but still owned a home in Glasco.
She was a member of New Hope Wesleyan Church where she also taught Sunday School, led the song service and did missionary work. She enjoyed playing the piano and composing music and poems, and also enjoyed cooking and preparing large family dinners for family and friends.
She is survived by a daughter, Phylis Jolene Norton, Syracuse; six grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A flower card reading will begin at 9:30 a.m. CST Thursday at the Christian Church in Glasco, followed by the funeral at 10 a.m. at the church and graveside burial in Glasco Cemetery. The family is invited to the church for a dinner at 11:30 a.m. CST.

Joseph Guebara
DEERFIELD -- Funeral for Joseph Guebara, 35, will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Garnand Funeral Home, Garden City, with the Rev. Stil Guerrero officiating. Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery, Garden City.
Mr. Guebara died Saturday, July 22, 2000, at Kearny County Hospital in Lakin.
He was born Sept. 4, 1964, at Ulysses, the son of Bernardino and Maria (Martinez) Guebara. He attended grade school in Garden City and moved to Deerfield as a seventh grader.
A farm laborer, he enjoyed spending time with his son, doing yard work, fishing, and listening to music.
He is survived by his son, Joseph Guebara Jr., Lakin; a stepson, Jason Seeger, Lakin; his mother, Deerfield; his grandmother, Narcisa Martinez, Garden City; two brothers, Sylvester Guebara, Littleton, Colo., and Bernardino Guebara III, Deerfield; and three sisters, Suzana Shafer, Isabell Guebara and Michelle Oliver, all of Garden City. He was preceded in death by his father.

Nick Dan Masters
SCOTT CITY -- Vigil prayer service for Nick Dan Masters, 77, will be 7 p.m. Tuesday at Price & Sons Funeral Home, Scott City. Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Scott City, with the Rev. David Kraus officiating. Burial will be in Scott County Cemetery, Scott City.
Mr. Masters died Saturday, July 15, 2000, at Scott County Hospital in Scott City.
He was born Aug. 17, 1922, at Pueblo, Colo., the son of Floyd L. and Mary L. (Paradise) Mastroantonio.
After graduating from Pleasant View School in 1940, where he lettered three years in basketball, he began working at the CFI Steel Mill in Pueblo.
He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps on Aug. 29, 1942, received basic training at Camp Pendleton in San Diego and was assigned to the 3rd Amphibian Tractor Battalion, Company A, serving in the Pacific Campaign, with the battles on Guam and Iwo Jima as the most notable.
He returned home Dec. 3, 1945. On June 22, 1946, he married Verna Fay Gary at Pueblo.
Mr. Masters worked for the AT&SF Railroad for 37 years, beginning in Syracuse and moving to Scott City in 1956. Always active in the community, he announced Beaver basketball home games until the mid-1960s and helped bring Little League Baseball to Scott City. The city honored him for his efforts, naming the field at the fairgrounds "Nick Masters Field."
He also had owned and operated the Pizza House Restaurant from 1966 to 1973, was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and VFW Post No. 7773, was past Grand Knight of Council No. 5212 and a fourth degree Knights of Columbus member, and belonged to the TRACC tape club and Tri Jazz Recording Club.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Alton Dan Masters, Waloport, Ore., and Lawrence Roy "Larry" Masters, St. Charles, Mo.; a brother, Roy Anthony Mastroantonio, Pueblo; a sister, Louise Marie Knicklebine, Pueblo; and five grandchildren.

Esther Grusing
SCOTT CITY -- Funeral for Esther Grusing, 90, will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Price & Sons Funeral Home, Scott City, with the Rev. Lynne Smith officiating. Burial will be in Bazine Cemetery, Bazine.
Mrs. Grusing died Friday, July 14, 2000, at Park Lane Nursing Home in Scott City.
She was born March 10, 1910, at Sutton, Neb., the daughter of Conrad and Eva (Roth) Schneider. On March 24, 1940, she married Henry J. Grusing at Bazine.
A Scott City resident since 1942, moving from Healy, she was a homemaker and worked with her husband on the farm. He died Feb. 3, 1992. She was also preceded in death by two brothers.
Mrs. Grusing was a member of the United Methodist Church of Scott City, and a former member of EHU and Healy UMW.
Survivors include a son, Myron Bon Grusing, Scott City; two nephews; and three nieces.
