George Raymond Reese
Graveside service for George Raymond Reese, 83, of Mount Vernon, Mo., will be 2 p.m. Saturday in Millers Chapel Cemetery, Sedalia, Mo., with full military rites conducted by VFW Post No. 2591. The Rev. Bob Ewens will officiate.
Mr. Reese died Thursday, June 1, 2000, at Missouri Veterans Home in Mount Vernon.
He was born Nov. 5, 1916, at Sedalia, the son of John and Maude (Renno) Reese. He grew up and was educated in the Sedalia area.
Mr. Reese owned and operated George's Barber Shop in La Monte and later in Sedalia. He was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
On Jan. 6, 1944, he married Cora Faye Richardson at Sedalia. She survives. He is also survived by a son, Bob Reese, Harrison, Ark.; a daughter, Beverly Sharp, Garden City; and six grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from noon to 1 p.m. today at McLaughlin Funeral Chapel, Sedalia.
Edna E. Weiss
Edna E. Weiss, 91, a Garden City resident before moving to Bella Vista, Ark., died Thursday, June 1, 2000, at Bates Medical Center in Bentonville, Ark.
She was born Jan. 2, 1909, at Greenwood, Neb., the daughter of John and Helena (Beyer) Rau.
A Bella Vista resident for 6 1/2 years, moving from Garden City, she was a member of Bella Vista Lutheran Church. She enjoyed flowers and painting and was active in church Bible studies.
She is survived by a son, Earl Weiss, Bella Vista; a daughter, Mildred Holman, Irving, Texas; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Weiss; and a son, Phil Weiss.
A memorial service is planned for 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Bella Vista Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Ronald Pfluger officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the church, 2258 Forest Hills Blvd., Bella Vista, AR 72715; or The Lutheran Hour, 2185 Hampton Ave., St. Louis, MO 63139.

Lana Jean Embree
Lana Jean Embree, 43, died Thursday, June 1, 2000, at El Dorado.
She was born May 1, 1957, at Garden City, the daughter of Gene and Frances (Wheeler) Embree. She graduated from Garden City High School and Washburn University.
An avid pool player, she had recently placed seventh out of 250 at the national championship in Las Vegas.
As a recipient, she was a frequent speaker for the organ donor program.
She is survived by her mother, Garden City; a sister, Debra Hemmert, Lexington, Neb.; a brother, Gary, Garden City; three nieces; one nephew; and one grand-nephew.
There will be no visitation. Her body was given to KU Medical School as per her wishes.
Ella Augusta 'Gussie' Lear
CIMARRON -- Ella Augusta "Gussie" Lear, 89, died Wednesday, May 24, 2000, at Sarasota, Fla.
She was born Dec. 3, 1910, at Cimarron, the daughter of Cary and Ethel Naylor. She graduated from Cimarron High School and attended Kansas State University, majoring in home economics.
On March 1, 1931, she married Oliver G. Lear. They lived in Omaha, Neb., Rocky River, Ohio, and Boston while he was in the Weaver Aluminum business. They moved to Athens, Ga., to do tree farming in 1952 and then moved to Sarasota, Fla., in 1956, where he began Sarasota Precision Products, later known as Rexnord. They retired to Casey Key, Fla.
Mrs. Lear was a member of the Orange Blossom Garden Circle and the Field Club at Sarasota, and Venice-Nokomis Methodist Church. A floral designer, she participated in competitive shows and provided horticultural therapy for people with disabilities through the Easter Seal Society.
She is survived by her husband, Sarasota; a sister, Julia Maria McKibbin, Jetmore; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service and inurnment is planned at a later date in Cimarron Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the Orange Blossom Garden Circle, in care of Mrs. Milton Olsen, 3460 Gladstone St., Sarasota, FL 34231.
National Cremation Society, Sarasota Chapter, is in charge of cremation.
Anna M. Sack
Altar Society and Christian Mother's rosary for Anna M. Sack, 84, of Hays, will be 4:30 p.m. today at Brock's North Hill Chapel, Hays, followed by an Eagles Auxiliary service at 6 p.m., a Daughters of Isabella rosary at 6:30 p.m. and a parish vigil service at 7 p.m.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph's Church, Hays, with the Revs. Mike Helm and Earl Befort officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Hays.
Mrs. Sack died Tuesday, May 30, 2000, at Kearny County Hospital in Lakin.
She was born Oct. 5, 1914, at Hyacinth, the daughter of Frank P. and Maria (Weigel) Brungardt, and attended grade school at Hyacinth.
A homemaker, Mrs. Sack was a member of St. Joseph's Church, St. Joseph's Altar Society and Christian Mothers, and the Daughters of Isabella and was a charter member of the Eagles Auxiliary, all at Hays.
On Nov. 6, 1939, she married Peter P. "Pete" Sack at Hays. He died May 26, 1983. She was also preceded in death by four brothers, Peter F. Brungardt, Fred Brungardt, Richard Brungardt and Killian Brungardt; and three sisters, Catherine Sander, Regina Pfeifer and Rose Schmidt.
She is survived by a son, Gary S. Sack, Hays; four daughters, Carol Meier and Elaine Sack, both of Bakersfield, Calif., Karen Burden, Lakin, and Yvonne Randolph, Garden City; a brother, Bonnie Brungardt, Kansas City, Mo.; three sisters, Helen Hertel, Russell, Clara Sack, Hays, and Celestine Meis, Denver; 13 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation hours are until 9 tonight and from 8:30 to 9:45 a.m. Friday at the funeral chapel. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society, The Center for Energy Medicine in Wichita or for Masses, all in care of the funeral chapel, 2509 Vine St., Hays, KS 67601.
Wilma E. Hett
DEERFIELD -- Wilma E. Hett, 83, of Hutchinson, died Wednesday, May 31, 2000, at Hutchinson Hospital.
She was born Nov. 25, 1916, at Hope, the daughter of Harvey and Nettie (Lininger) Bowers.
A homemaker, Mrs. Hett had been a longtime resident of Marion County. She was a member of Youngtown United Methodist Church in rural Marion and had been active in 4-H in earlier years.
On March 22, 1940, she married Homer Hett. Following his death on May 10, 1995, she moved from Marion to Hutchinson and lived at Wesley Towers.
She is survived by a son, Warren Hett, Deerfield; two daughters, Arlene Sittner, Hudson, and Ruth Snodgrass, Santa Barbara, Calif.; three brothers, David Bowers, Marion, Wilford Bowers, Manchester, Iowa, and Dale Bowers, Portland, Ore.; and five grandchildren.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Eastmoor United Methodist Church, Marion, with the Rev. Marilyn Cox officiating. Burial will be in Marion Cemetery.
Visitation hours are from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Friday with the family greeting friends at Zeiner Funeral Home, Marion. Memorials are suggested to the Wesley Towers Good Samaritan Fund at Hutchinson or Youngtown United Methodist Church in rural Marion, both in care of the funeral home.
Harvey M. Archer
Funeral for Harvey M. Archer, 93, of Goodland, was to be 10:30 this morning at First Christian Church, Goodland, with the Rev. Loren Strait officiating. Burial was to follow in Goodland Cemetery.
Mr. Archer died Thursday, July 27, 2000, at Garden Valley Retirement Village in Garden City.
He was born Dec. 19, 1906, on a farmstead north of Haigler, Neb. He taught country school in Cheyenne County, and was later the principal of Bird City Grade School and Grant Junior High in Goodland. After he retired, he started a printing business. He was also a bookkeeper for White Machine and Motor Co. and bookkeeper/administrator at Boothroy Memorial Hospital (now Goodland Regional Medical Center).
Mr. Archer was a member of First Christian Church and a former member of Goodland Rotary Club of which he was a Paul Harris Fellow.
He is survived by a daughter, Meredith Sonderegger, Garden City; two grandchildren; a brother, Harold Archer, Greeley, Colo.; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his wife, Florence, in October 1999.
