Vivian E. Larson
Funeral for Vivian E. Larson, 88, a lifetime resident of Sharon Springs, was 10:30 a.m. MT Saturday at the United Methodist Church, Sharon Springs, with the Rev. Gerry Sharp officiating. Burial followed in Sharon Springs Cemetery.
Mrs. Larson died Wednesday, June 7, 2000, at Prairie Manor Good Samaritan Center in Sharon Springs.
Born May 8, 1912, at Winfield, she was the daughter of Alvan and Minnie (Johnson) Munger.
She graduated from high school in Hoisington and studied at Fort Hays State University before beginning her teaching career. She taught in the elementary school at Sharon Springs from 1952 through 1974.
Mrs. Larson was a member of the United Methodist Church, Eastern Star, Garden Club and the Daughters of the American Revolution.
On June 26, 1935, she married Willard H. Larson. He died in 1960. On July 7, 1969, she married John S. Larson at Newton. He died in 1988. She was also preceded in death by two stepchildren, Doris Wise and John Spencer Larson Jr.
She is survived by two sons, John W. Larson, Garden City, and Carl A. Larson, Russell; five grandchildren; seven stepgrandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Claire Munger, Tulsa, Okla., and Wilbur Munger, Longmont, Colo.
Memorials are suggested to Prairie Manor Nursing Home and may be left at Koons Funeral Home in Sharon Springs or mailed to Koons Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Goodland, KS 67735.
Manuel R. Lozoya Jr.
Vigil service for Manuel R. Lozoya Jr., 25, of 502 N. VFW Road, will be 7 p.m. Tuesday at St. Mary Catholic Church, Garden City, followed by Spanish rosary. Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church, with the Rev. James E. Baker officiating. Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery, Garden City.
Mr. Lozoya died Saturday, June 10, 2000, from injuries suffered in an automobile accident in Finney County.
He was born Aug. 24, 1974, at Pecos, Texas, the son of Manuel and Bertha (Ramirez) Lozoya Sr. The family moved to Garden City in 1984 and he attended Garden City schools.
A laborer, Mr. Lozoya attended St. Mary Catholic Church. His hobbies were music, dancing, motorcycles, and traveling and spending time with his family.
On Feb. 28, 1992, he married Angel Erika Urbina at Garden City. She survives. Other survivors are a daughter, Melissa, of the home; his parents, Garden City; a sister, Velinda Tinajero, Garden City; and his grandparents, Esperanza Marine, Chihuahua, Mexico, and Jose Manuel Lozoya, Pecos. He was preceded in death by a grandfather and grandmother.
Visitation hours are until 8 tonight and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday at Garnand Funeral Home, Garden City.
Yolanda Lujan
MONTEZUMA -- Funeral for Yolanda Lujan, 41, of Montezuma, will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Homeland Mennonite Church, Montezuma. Sherril Esau, Richard Koehn, Lynn Toews and Keith Ensz, ministers, will officiate. Additional services will be conducted in Mexico.
Mrs. Lujan died Saturday, June 10, 2000, from injuries suffered in an automobile accident in rural Montezuma.
She was born Jan. 16, 1959, at Colonia Alvaro Obregon, Mexico, the daughter of Jesus Manuel and Enriqueta (Lopez) Soliz.
In 1980, she and Octavio Lujan were married in Mexico. They moved to Montezuma in 1988. A certified nurse's aide, Mrs. Lujan worked for Bethel Home and at a home health agency. She was a member of Homeland Mennonite Church.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Nancy Lujan and Cinthia Lujan, both of Montezuma; her mother, Mexico; nine brothers, Humberto Soliz, Garden City, Javier Soliz, Arturo Soliz and Eduardo Soliz, all of Mexico, Alfredo Soliz, Kelleen, Texas, Ramon Soliz, Dimas Soliz, Rafael Soliz and Eloy Soliz, all of Atlanta; three sisters, Elena Soliz, Leticia Soliz and Karla Soliz, all of Mexico; and several nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her father.

Michelle Cooper Reyes
DEERFIELD -- Vigil service for Michelle Cooper Reyes, 25, will be 7 p.m. Sunday at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Lakin. Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Monday at the church, with the Rev. Mike Helms as celebrant. Burial will be in Deerfield Cemetery.
Mrs. Reyes died Thursday, June 8, 2000, from injuries suffered in an automobile accident in Finney County.
She was born March 14, 1975, at Garden City, the daughter of Jim and Gloria (Banda) Cooper. She grew up in Colville, Wash., and graduated from high school there.
A Deerfield resident since 1992, she cooked in the family restaurant business, Shorty's Place in Deerfield. She enjoyed her family activities, camping, fishing, hunting and dancing.
On Oct. 12, 1995, she married Julio Reyes Domingez at Lakin. He survives. Other survivors are a son, Jaimé Leon Reyes, of the home; her parents, Deerfield; a sister, Mary Ellen Gallegos, Montana; two stepbrothers, Jay Cooper, Fall City, Wash., and Jeff Cooper, Deerfield; and her grandparents, George and Lola Banda, Deerfield, and Irene Briggs, Wenatchee, Wash.
Visitation hours are from noon to 8 tonight and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday at Garnand Funeral Home, Lakin. Memorials to the Jaimé Reyes Education Fund may be sent in care of the funeral home.
Lillie M. Schwindt
MARIENTHAL -- Lillie M. Schwindt, 83, died Thursday, June 8, 2000, at Scott County Hospital in Scott City.
She was born June 26, 1916, in Wichita County, the daughter of Clarence and Hattie (Carson) Smith. She attended Wichita County schools.
A lifetime resident of Wichita County, she was a homemaker. She belonged to the Butterfield Trail Association and Logan County Historical Society, both at Russell Springs.
On June 1, 1935, she married Clifford L. Schwindt at Scott City. He died March 11, 1992, at Scott City. She was also preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.
She is survived by two sons, Kenneth Schwindt and Marion Schwindt, both of Leoti; three daughters, Shirley Anderson, Garden City, Lois Tucker, Wellington, Colo., and Norma Marsh, Tempe, Ariz.; a sister, Clara Belle Wilson, Marienthal; 18 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church, Scott City, with the Rev. Lynne Smith officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery
in Wichita County.

Frank A. Smith
SCOTT CITY -- Frank A. Smith, 70, died Wednesday, June 7, 2000, at his home in Pleasanton.
Born at Scott City on Feb. 20, 1930, he was the son of John Allen and Cora Elsie (Snyder) Smith.
A resident of Pleasanton since 1994, moving from Montana, he was a farm laborer and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He is survived by three brothers, Roy A. Smith, Hutchinson, Elmer J. Smith, Weskan, and Charles "Chuck" Smith, Scott City.
A memorial service is planned at a later date.
Price & Sons Funeral Home, Scott City, is in charge of arrangements.
O.C. "Squirrley" Wilcox
DIGHTON -- O.C. "Squirrley" Wilcox died Friday at his home in Dighton.
He was born March 28, 1915 in Nickerson, the son of Elroy and Gertrude Wilcox.
Wilcox moved to Dighton when he was 1-year-old and attended Dighton schools. After school, he worked at the Chevrolet garage and Conoco station.
After working at Conoco, Wilcox bought his own truck and hauled sand for the state. He then moved into cattle hauling and established Wilcox Trucking Company. He continued hauling cattle for 35 years before retiring.
He is survived by his wife, Alice, and two sisters, Violet Dunham, Dighton, and Kathryn Hilgenburg, Wichita.
Reverend Tod Anthony will preside over funeral services held at 10 a.m. Monday at the Dighton United Methodist Church. Burial will be at Dighton Memorial Cemetery.
Calling hours will be from noon to 8 p.m. today, and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Boomhower Funeral Home in Dighton.
