Myrtle Caroline Parsons
HUGOTON -- Myrtle Caroline Parsons, 96, died Thursday, May 18, 2000, at Pioneer Manor Nursing Home in Hugoton.
She was born Nov. 19, 1903, at Saguache, Colo., the daughter of Warren and Orina (Cline) Joy.
A Hugoton resident since 1922, she was a homemaker. She belonged to First Christian Church of Hugoton and the American Legion Auxiliary and was a past matron of Order of the Eastern Star.
On Sept. 6, 1921, she married James Roy Parsons. He died in 1965. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy Hennigh and Mary Hurt; and a brother, Robert Joy.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday at First Christian Church, Hugoton, with the Rev. Kevin Yoakum officiating. Burial will be in Hugoton Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the church, in care of Paul's Funeral Home, Hugoton.
Gladys Marie Dean
SCOTT CITY -- Graveside service for Gladys Marie Dean, 74, was to be 3 p.m. today in Scott County Cemetery, Scott City, with the Rev. Arlen Ankle officiating.
Mrs. Dean died Wednesday, May 17, 2000, at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City.
She was born Sept. 21, 1925, in Logan County, the daughter of Raymond Otto and Hazel (Sandy) Hershberger.
A Scott City resident since 1965, moving from Leoti, she worked for many years at Park Lane Nursing Home. She was a member of Church of the Nazarene and VFW Auxiliary.
On Feb. 28, 1964, she married Melvin R. Dean at Raton, N.M. He died Dec. 18, 1979, at Wichita. She was also preceded in death by a son, Larry; and a brother, Donald.
She is survived by five sons, Harold Johnson, Brazil, Gary Johnson, Bossier, La., Danny Johnson, Lansing, Randy Lauber, Hutchinson, and David Lauber, Scott City; a brother, Harley Herschberger, Russell Springs; and nine grandchildren.
Memorials to the Gladys Marie Dean Memorial Fund may be sent in care of Price & Sons Funeral Home, Scott City.
Kay Catholenia Loder
Kay Catholenia Loder, 49, died Thursday at her home in Garden City.
She was born June 27, 1950, in Syracuse, the daughter of Roy R. and Lois E. Kidson Fairchild.
A resident of Garden City since 1974, she was a homemaker. She was a member of the Word of Life Church.
She is survived by her husband, Randal, whom she married June 1, 1974, in Syracuse. Other survivors include two sons, Patrick D. Loder, Tulsa, Okla., and Brian K. Loder, New Cambria; one daughter, Amy E. Loder of the home; one brother, James R. Fairchild, Syracuse; one sister, Norleen L. Shelton, Goodyear, Ariz.
She was preceded in death by one infant daughter, Kim Yvette.
She was anticipating the arrival of her first grandchild in November.
Funeral services will be officiated by Pastor Gary Don Newman at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Word of Life Church. Burial will be at Valley View Cemetery.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Word of Life Church in care of Price & Sons Funeral Home, Garden City.
Ladine Collins
Funeral for Ladine Collins, 70, will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Garnand Funeral Home, Garden City, with the Rev. Derald Musgrove officiating. Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery, Garden City.
Mrs. Collins died Friday, May 19, 2000, at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City.
She was born June 10, 1929, at Dodge City, the daughter of Ezra and Virginia (McComas) Schweitzer. She grew up in Dodge City, graduated from Dodge City High School and attended nurse's training school in Garden City for one year.
On Jan. 22, 1950, she married John E. "Jack" Collins at Clayton, N.M. After their marriage, they lived north of Holly, Colo. They later moved back to Dodge City for a short time before returning to Holly. In 1964, they moved to Garden City.
A homemaker, Mrs. Collins had also worked in the deli at Dillons East since 1984. She enjoyed gardening, yard work, music, reading, puzzles and spending time with her grandchildren.
Her husband died Nov. 8, 1999. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Paul Schweitzer.
She is survived by two sons, John Collins, Rock Springs, Wyo., and Mike Collins, Garden City; four daughters, Virginia Patterson and Marty Dinkel, both of Garden City, Janine Norton, Holcomb, and Kelly Collins, Rozel; a brother, Vern Schweitzer, Holly; a sister, Nancy Hutton, Dodge City; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
There will be no visitation. Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association, in care of the funeral home.
Mabel L. 'Mickey' Ingram
Mabel L. "Mickey" Ingram, 87, died Sunday, May 21, 2000, at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City.
Welcoming home service with recitation of the rosary will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Liberal. Vigil service will be 7 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Mass of the resurrection will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday at the church. The Rev. Henry Hildebrandt will preside over the services. Burial will be in Restlawn Cemetery, Liberal.
Born Dec. 15, 1912, at Wellington, to James and Mamie Butler, she was a 1931 graduate of Wellington High School.
A Garden City resident, she had previously lived in Liberal since 1958. She was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church and the Altar Society, attended St. Mary's Catholic Church in Garden City, and was a former volunteer with Southwest Medical Center Auxiliary. An avid gardener, she loved her roses and at one time was caring for 164 rose bushes at once.
On Jan. 15, 1948, she married Leamon H. Ingram at Wellington. He died Aug. 4, 1992. She was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, Marsha Ingram; two brothers, Frank Butler and Dale Butler; and two sisters, Gertrude Botkin and Edith Young.
She is survived by a son, Michael Ingram, Holcomb; two grandchildren; and two sisters, Peggy Butler, Wellington, and Margery Evans, Eugene, Ore.
Visitation hours are from 5 to 9 tonight and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday at Kitch Funeral Home, Liberal. Memorials are suggested to St. Anthony Catholic Church, in care of the funeral home, 1212 W. Second St., Liberal, KS 67901.
Blaine E. Winder
Blaine E. Winder, 62, of rural Waldo, died Monday, May 22, 2000, at his sister's home in rural Waldo.
He was born Dec. 23, 1937, at Natoma, the son of Eldon and Hazel (Murphy) Winder. A lifetime resident of the Natoma and Waldo area, he graduated from Natoma High School and attended Kansas State University for a short time.
For most of his working life, Mr. Winder was a farmer/stockman. He also operated a welding shop at Natoma from 1977 to 1986. He was a member of Victor Brethren Church in rural Waldo.
He is survived by his mother, rural Waldo; two sons, Wade Winder, Omaha, Neb., and Stephen Winder, Garden City; two daughters, Teresa Myers, Dodge City, and Stephanie Strutt, Russell; a brother, Wayne Winder, Goddard; a sister, Beverly Ellegood, Waldo; a foster sister, Joan Naylor Wilson, Norton; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his father.
Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Pohlman's Memorial Chapel, Russell, with the Rev. Henry Hartman officiating. Burial will be in Natoma City Cemetery.
Visitation hours are from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and 9 a.m. until service time Thursday at Pohlman's Mortuary, Russell.
