Ruby M. Bernd
TRIBUNE -- Funeral for Ruby M. Bernd, 88, will be 10:30 a.m. MDT Tuesday at Price & Sons Funeral Home, Tribune, with the Rev. Mike Helm officiating. Burial will be in Greeley County Cemetery, Tribune.
Mrs. Bernd died Friday, April 14, 2000, at her home in Tribune.
She was born Aug. 2, 1911, at Cherryvale, the daughter of Sherman and Hattie (Taylor) Riley. A homemaker, she had been a Greeley County resident since 1987, moving from Cherryvale.
Mrs. Bernd was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Kuder Senior Citizens Center, both at Tribune, and Royal Neighbors of America at Cherryvale.
In 1942, she married Carl Bernd at Cherryvale. He died in 1987. She was also preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
She is survived by a son, James O'Leary, Tribune; a brother, Albert Riley, Cherryvale; five grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Visitation hours are until 9 tonight at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Kuder Senior Citizens Center, in care of the funeral home.
Clifford Lee Howard
ULYSSES -- Funeral for Clifford Lee Howard, 77, of Ulysses, will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Freewill Baptist Church, Ulysses, with the Rev. Wayne Bookout officiating. Burial will be in Ulysses Cemetery, with military graveside rites conducted.
Mr. Howard died Saturday, April 15, 2000, at Terrace Garden Care Center in Garden City.
He was born March 10, 1923, at Boise City, Okla., the son of Arthur Lee and Ruby Lee (Hampton) Howard. A lifetime resident of Ulysses, he was a construction worker and had served in the U.S. Navy.
On Sept. 22, 1946, he married Buelah Maxine Howard at Ulysses. She preceded him in death as did a son, James Richard Howard; a brother, Leroy Howard; and a great-grandson.
He is survived by two sons, David Lee Howard, Drumright, Okla., and Jonnie Wayne Howard, Deerfield; a daughter, Cindy A. Zielinski, Saginaw, Mich.; six brothers, Raymond Howard and Kenneth Howard, both of Ulysses, Arthur Howard, Denver, John Howard, Carrolton, Texas, Lloyd Howard, Eureka, and Ronnie Howard, Longmont, Colo.; three sisters, Bessie Loran Smith, Crossville, Tenn., Mary Lou Martin, Unionville, Tenn., and May Orbeck, Berthoud, Colo.; 13 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Raymond C. Kennemer
SUBLETTE -- Funeral for Raymond C. Kennemer, 81, a former Sublette resident, will be 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Church of Christ, Sublette, with the Rev. Gerald Stewart officiating. Burial will be in Haskell County Cemetery, Sublette.
Mr. Kennemer, of Cordell, Okla., died Saturday, April 15, 2000, at Cordell Christian Home.
He was born Jan. 18, 1919, at Carter, Okla., the son of I.C. and Minnie (Britton) Kennemer.
On Sept. 25, 1948, he married Jewel Kimberlin at Wichita. They moved to Sublette in 1950, where he worked for the gas company and was a member of Church of Christ. She died Oct. 28, 1985. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Bill Kennemer and Marvin Kennemer; and a sister, Fern.
He is survived by two sons, Larry Kennemer, Chester, Okla., and Ray Lynn Kennemer, Dumas, Texas; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Frank Kennemer, Lovington, N.M.; and three sisters, Dora Dacus, Cordell, Juanita Garret, Sayre, Okla., and Ruth Johnson, McKinney, Texas.
Visitation hours are until 8 tonight at Haskell County Funeral Home, Sublette, and from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday at Church of Christ in Sublette.
Francis W. Kistler
Johnson -- Graveside service for Francis W. Kistler, 85, of Ulysses, was to be 2 p.m. today in Stanton County Cemetery, Johnson, with the Rev. Dave Kaufmann officiating.
Mr. Kistler died Saturday, April 15, 2000, at his home in rural Grant County.
He was born Aug. 9, 1914, in Hamilton County, the son of George and Vina Kistler. A farmer and rancher, he had previously resided in Manter. He belonged to First Christian Church of Lamar, Mo.
He is survived by his wife, Fern (Wright) Kistler, whom he married on May 18, 1940, at Syracuse; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Jack Kistler; and a sister, Dollie Hunker.

Benjamin Owen Nay
Graveside service for Benjamin Owen Nay, 75, of Weatherford, Texas, will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in Spring Creek Cemetery, south of Weatherford, with Bill Rowe officiating.
Mr. Nay died Sunday, April 16, 2000, at a hospital in Fort Worth, Texas.
Born July 30, 1924, at Longton, he had been a resident of Parker County, Texas, for 16 years. A retired officer, he had served on the Borger Police Department and was a member of Spring Creek Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred Nay; a daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Dwight Smith, Garden City; three sons, Mike Nay, Robert Nay and Jim Nay, all of Weatherford; two sisters, Nadine Hammons, Johnson, and Neva Houston, Fritch, Texas; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Galbreaith-Pickard Funeral Chapel, Weatherford, is in charge of arrangements.
Vola Maxine Proffitt
Funeral for Vola Maxine Proffitt, 81, will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Christian Church, Garden City, with the Rev. Donald Carter officiating. Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery, Garden City.
Mrs. Proffitt died Saturday, April 15, 2000, at Garden Valley Retirement Village in Garden City.
She was born Feb. 18, 1919, at Kanorado, the daughter of Leon and Mamie (Wilcox) Livengood. A Garden City resident since 1943, moving from Goodland, she was a homemaker and attended First Christian Church.
On May 12, 1943, she married Luther Earl Proffitt at Garden City. He survives. Other survivors are three sons, Ronald Proffitt and Boyd Proffitt, both of Garden City, and Donald Proffitt, Wichita; three daughters, Vicki L. Proffitt, Garden City, Karen James, Gunnison, Colo., and Sandra Proffitt, Dodge City; a sister, Fern Anderson, Burlington, Colo.; and nine grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four brothers, two sisters and a grandson.
Visitation hours are until 9 tonight and from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at Price & Sons Funeral Home, Garden City. Memorials are suggested to the H.O.P.E. Puppet Ministry at the church, in care of the funeral home, 620 N. Main St.
Dodd S. Shireman
SCOTT CITY -- Graveside service for Dodd S. Shireman, 93, will be 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in Scott County Cemetery, Scott City, with the Rev. Arlen Ankle officiating.
Mr. Shireman died Saturday, April 15, 2000, at Park Lane Nursing Home in Scott City
He was born March 23, 1907, at Tulsa, Okla., the son of Milton Hampton and Anna I. Shireman.
Mr. Shireman lived in Scott City from 1951 until moving to Protection in 1953, and then lived in Wichita and South Dakota before returning to Scott City in 1963. After retiring from farming, he was a custom cutter and later was a school janitor and night watchman for more than 20 years.
He is survived by a nephew, Glenn Sigars, Liberal; two nieces, Debra Zell, Ava, Mo., and Patricia Shireman, Wasola, Mo.; and a special friend, Pam McCollum, Scott City. He was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma May Shireman, on May 7, 1983, at Scott City. They had been married Oct. 5, 1931, at Coldwater. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Dudley, Durile and Delmer.
