Josephine Kathleen Rowton Farr
Funeral for Josephine Kathleen Rowton Farr, 79, of Corpus Christi, Texas, will be 2 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, Corpus Christi. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Mrs. Farr died Monday, April 10, 2000.
Born at Leoti on March 6, 1921, she was the daughter of Clyde John and Ada Marie Rowton.
Since the fall of 1954, she had resided in Flour Bluff, Texas. She was a volunteer for Loaves and Fishes for many years and had also volunteered for many children's organizations.
She is survived by her children, William Edward Farr and Kathleen June Fowler, both of California, Mitchel Ray Farr, Chandler, Ariz., Phyllis Loraine Legg, Seattle, Thomas Lee Farr, of Lawrence, Linda Carol Williams, Corpus Christi, Myron Allen Farr, San Francisco, De Ann Jolene Farr, Burke, Va., Cheryl Ann Blackmon, Houston, David Lynn Farr, Bakersfield, Calif., and Ernest Wayne Farr, North Carolina; a sister, Juanita Rowton Farr, Leoti; a brother, Clyde "Bud" Rowton, Scott City; a special family member, Lloyd Dean Farr, and grandson, Merlyn Farr, of Nickerson; 22 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Her husband, Ernest Farr, died May 9, 1991.

Freddie Robert Cruz
Freddie Robert Cruz, 46, of Garden City, died Monday, April 10, 2000, at Via Christi Regional Medical Center, St. Francis Campus, in Wichita. He had been hospitalized since being injured in a hit-and-run accident March 19 in Garden City.
He was born Aug. 15, 1953, at Raton, N.M., the son of Arthur Soloman and Maria Faye (Vigil) Cruz. He had attended Buffalo Jones Elementary School.
A lifetime Garden City resident, Mr. Cruz had worked as a roofer.
He is survived by his parents, Garden City; six sisters, Sally Sedonia, Terry Curnette, Bernice Maldonado and Roberta Dominguez, all of Garden City, Julia Irsik, Elkhart, and Stella Flores, Ulysses; and four brothers, Lee Roy Cruz, Jesse Cruz and Carl Cruz, all of Garden City, and Joe Cruz, Elkhart.
Graveside service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Valley View Cemetery, Garden City, with the Garden City congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses officiating.
Visitation hours are 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday at Garnand Funeral Home, Garden City. Memorials to the Freddie Cruz Memorial Fund may be sent in care of the funeral home.
Ronald O. Beaver
LAKIN -- Ronald O. Beaver, 54, died Tuesday, April 11, 2000, at his home in Lakin.
He was born Sept. 13, 1945, at Quinter, the son of Eugene "Jack" and Eva (Stout) Beaver. He attended schools at Quinter, graduating from Quinter High School in 1963. He then attended and graduated from a trade school in Kansas City.
After moving to Lakin in 1968, he worked for KN Energy. He farmed with his father-in-law, Glen Jenks, from 1973 to 1985, then began working for Electron Way and later started working for the Tate Ranch. At one time, he worked as a reserve officer for the Kearny County Sheriff's Department for five years.
Mr. Beaver was a member of the United Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge and Order of the Eastern Star, all at Lakin. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1965 to 1966 during the Vietnam conflict. He enjoyed playing Monday night bridge for many years with a group of friends, and enjoyed Christmas shopping, especially on the day after Thanksgiving.
On Oct. 25, 1970, he married Elaine Jenks at Lydia. She survives.
He is also survived by two daughters, Roni Lynn Knight, Garden City, and Teri Rhea Denning, Lakin; three brothers, Dan Beaver, Chicago, Larry Beaver, Quinter, and Leroy Beaver, Abilene; two sisters, Eugene Vaughn, Paris, Ark., and Jackie Eberle, WaKeeney; and five grandchildren.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at the United Methodist Church, Lakin, with the Rev. William Salmon officiating. Burial will be in Lakin Cemetery.
Visitation hours are until 8 tonight, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and 9 to 11 a.m. Friday at Garnand Funeral Home, Lakin. Memorials are suggested to the Dodge City Cancer Center, Lakin Home Health or the P.R.I.D.E. Committee, all in care of the funeral home.
Elsie L. Snyder
SUBLETTE -- Graveside service for Elsie L. Snyder, 92, of Sublette, will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday in Haskell County Cemetery, Sublette, with the Rev. Mary Al Titus officiating.
Mrs. Snyder died Wednesday, April 12, 2000, at Satanta District Hospital.
She was born Aug. 6, 1907, at Cookeville, Tenn., the daughter of Floyd and Caroline (Nicholas) Bowden. The family moved to Nashville, Tenn., in 1912 and she attended school there until the family moved to Kansas in 1917. They lived in Stafford County where she attended school, graduating from Antrim High School in 1926.
While in school, she met Albert Snyder, whom she married in August 1926. In 1943, they moved from St. John to Haskell County, where they farmed. He died March 8, 1973, in an automobile accident.
She was also preceded in death by two daughters, Doris Jean Davis on Dec. 8, 1980, and Mary Lou Ochs on April 11, 1987; a grandson; and a brother, Everett Bowden.
Mrs. Snyder was a member of the United Methodist Church, and attended and enjoyed the Pride of Life, both at Sublette. She enjoyed family activities as well as crocheting afghans and hangers for her family.
She is survived by two sons-in-law, John Davis and Gene Ochs, both of Sublette; six grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; three great-great-granddaughters; and two brothers, Hollis Bowden and Milton Bowden, both of St. John.

James D. West
Memorial service for James D. West, 50, of Wichita, will be 3 p.m. Friday, at Cochran Mortuary Chapel of the Roses, Wichita.
Mr. West, a draftsman/engineer, died Monday, April 10, 2000.
He is survived by his companion, Sandi Baird, of the home; his daughter, Janea Bevill, Bebe, Ark.; his sister, Shurley Alexander, Overland Park; his mother, Joyce West, Wichita; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Harold "Jim" West.
Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association, in care of the mortuary, 1411 N. Broadway, Wichita, KS 67214-1191.
Robert Leroy Johnson
ULYSSES -- Funeral for Robert Leroy Johnson, 68, will be 2:30 p.m. Friday at Garnand Funeral Home Chapel, Ulysses. Burial will follow in Golden Cemetery, Ulysses.
Mr. Johnson died Tuesday, April 11, 2000, at Bob Wilson Memorial Hospital in Ulysses.
He was born Oct. 12, 1931, in rural Grant County, the son of Elmer Leroy and Helen Aileen (Jones) Johnson.
Mr. Johnson was a lifetime resident of Ulysses, where he worked for Pioneer Electric for more than 30 years before retiring in 1992.
He is survived by three sons, Robert L. Johnson Jr., Lansing, Rod Johnson, Ulysses, and Daniel W. Johnson, Garden City; three brothers, Vergil Johnson, Carl Johnson and Steve Johnson, all of Ulysses; a sister, Marjorie VonBank, Morrison, Colo.; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Dennis W. Johnson; and a brother, Don Eugene Johnson.

Eldon 'Bud' Immroth
Funeral for Eldon "Bud" Immroth, 80, will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Garnand Funeral Home, Garden City, with the Rev. Dale L. Clare officiating. Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery, Garden City, with military graveside rites conducted by Garden City area veterans.
Mr. Immroth died Wednesday, April 12, 2000, at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City.
He was born April 14, 1919, at Cimarron, the son of Francis Fred and Effie Ethel (White) Immroth. He grew up in Cimarron and graduated from Cimarron High School in 1939.
Serving in the U.S. Army during World War II, he was a staff sergeant with the 24th Infantry Division in the South Pacific. After the service, he returned to Cimarron and entered the grocery business.
In 1955, he moved to Rolla to work in the IGA store. In 1957, he moved to Garden City and was the assistant manager of Wall's IGA until retiring in 1987.
Mr. Immroth was a member of the Wheatbelt Chapter of the Good Sam Camping Club, Harry H. Renick Post No. 9 of the American Legion, Eagles Lodge and the Odd Fellows Lodge of Cimarron. His special interests were his family activities, camping, yard care and bird watching.
On May 17, 1945, he married Doris Davis at Cimarron. She survives. He is also survived by a son, Jack Immroth, Garden City; two daughters, Sharon Jameson, Garden City, and Donna Powell, Sublette; a brother, Loren Immroth, Cimarron; four grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and six stepgreat-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Ethel Peters and Laverne Werner; and a brother, Donald Immroth.
