Rev. Dr. C.M. 'Jack' Fogleman Jr.
Funeral for the Rev. Dr. C.M. "Jack" Fogleman Jr., 81, of Burlington, N.C., will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Front Street United Methodist Church, Burlington, with the Rev. Dr. William C. Simpson, the Rev. G. Robert Mckenzie Jr., the Rev. Dermont Reid and Dr. G. Howard Allred officiating. Burial will follow in Alamance (N.C.) Memorial Park.
The Rev. Fogleman, who had pastored in Garden City, died Saturday, Feb. 19, 2000, at Alamance Regional Medical Center, following a lengthy illness.
Born in Alamance County, N.C., he was the son of Clarence Millard "Jack" Sr. and Mattie Lynn (Fogleman) Fogleman. He received a bachelor's degree in history from Kansas Wesleyan University, a bachelor of divinity from Duke University, and an honorary doctorate of divinity degree from Kansas Wesleyan University. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corp during World War II from 1942 to 1945.
Retired after serving as a United Methodist minister for more than 50 years, his appointments included the Kanapolis Charge of the Kansas West Conference. He then served as pastor of Fairview UMC in Elon College, N.C.; pastored in Ayden, N.C., in the NC Conference; at The University UMC in Wichita and the First United Methodist Church in Garden City; was the Salina Kansas District Superintendent twice; and pastored the College Hill UMC in Wichita, in the Kansas West Conference.
He was the interim president of Kansas Wesleyan University in 1973 while district superintendent of the Salina District; was a delegate to the South Central Jurisdictional Conference in 1968, 1972, 1976, 1980 and 1984; and was the delegate to the General Conference in 1972, 1976, 1980 and 1984. He retired as the minister of visitation of Front Street United Methodist Church in Burlington, after 10 years of service.
Survivors include his wife, Edith (Morgan) Fogleman; a daughter, LaDonna Zazenski, Atlantic Beach, N.C.; two sons, Ronald D. Fogleman, Burlington, and Dr. Millard Lynn, Beverly, Ky.; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Alice Thompson; and three brothers, Lt. Col. Paul Fogleman, William "Bill" Fogleman and Robert "Bobby" Fogleman.
Visitation hours are until service time Tuesday at Lowe Funeral Home, Burlington, with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 tonight. Memorials may be sent to Kansas Wesleyan University, 100 E. Steve A. Hernandez Sr.
Prayer service for Steve A. Hernandez Sr., 76, a former Garden City resident, will be 6:30 tonight at Blackburn-Shaw Memorial Chapel, Amarillo, Texas. Funeral will be 4 p.m. Wednesday at St. Matthews United Methodist Church, Amarillo, with the Rev. Elias Rivera-Reyes officiating. Burial will follow in Llano Cemetery, Amarillo.
Mr. Hernandez died Sunday, Feb. 20, 2000, at Amarillo.
Born at Bellefont, he served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He attended the University of Hawaii, Southern Methodist University and Aurora in Missouri.
An Amarillo resident since 1950, he retired as the superintendent for photo engraving for the Amarillo Globe News. He was a member of VFW Post No. 1475, Graphics Communications International Union and St. Matthews United Methodist Church.
On July 12, 1945, he married Sarah Hernandez at Garden City. She survives. He is also survived by three sons, Steve Hernandez Jr., Arthur Hernandez and Don Hernandez, all of Amarillo; five daughters, Yvette Bustillos, Jeannie Morales, Corrine Zambrano, Christine Castillo and Sara Renteria, all of Amarillo; a brother, Sirito Hernandez, Chicago; 15 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Valentine Hernandez.

John F. Robinson
TRIBUNE -- John F. Robinson, 101, died Tuesday, Feb. 29, 2000, at Greeley County Long Term Care Unit in Tribune.
He was born Nov. 24, 1898, at South Haven, the son of John and Eva (Williamson) Robinson.
A Greeley County resident since June 1930, he was a retired rural mail carrier and belonged to the First Presbyterian Church of Tribune.
On July 12, 1920, he married Ethel E. Fraley at Wellington. She died March 29, 1969, at Tribune. He was also preceded in death by a son, a daughter, two grandchildren and three brothers.
He is survived by a daughter, Evalyn Bain, Tribune; and six grandchildren.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. MDT Friday at the First Presbyterian Church, Tribune, with the Revs. Kathleen Dooley and Michael Underwood officiating. Burial will follow in Greeley County Cemetery, Tribune.
Visitation hours are until 9 tonight and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at Price & Sons Funeral Home, Tribune. Memorials to the John Robinson Memorial Fund may be sent in care of the funeral home.
James Donald Roberts
Funeral for former Garden City resident James Donald Roberts, 71, of Weatherford, Okla., was to be 10:30 this morning at Pine Acres Church, Weatherford, with the Rev. Don Morris officiating. Burial was to follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Weatherford.
Mr. Roberts died Friday, Feb. 25, 2000, in Weatherford.
He was born May 13, 1928, at Meade, the son of Edwin and Bertha (Turnquist) Roberts. Reared in Meade, he went to school there, graduating in 1946.
On Nov. 27, 1947, he married Jean Maxine Uzzell at Fort Collins, Colo. They made their home in Plains and he farmed for several years before being called to the ministry. He attended college from 1950 to 1954, attended seminary from 1954 to 1959 and worked as a custom harvester during that time.
Mr. Roberts pastored in Hanston, Denver and Fairview, Okla., from 1966 until moving to Cordell, Okla., in 1976. He pastored there until moving to Garden City in 1989. After retiring in 1993, he moved to Weatherford, where he did some lay pastoring. He enjoyed traveling, train collecting and tour groups, had built two homes and rebuilt a 1932 tractor.
He is survived by his wife; two sons, Larry Roberts, Sacramento, Calif., and Stacey Roberts, Yukon, Okla.; a daughter, Janet Crawford, Fayetteville, Ark.; a brother, Karel Roberts, Garden City; and seven grandchildren.

Lydia Kaufman
SCOTT CITY -- Lydia Kaufman, 90, died Monday, Feb. 28, 2000, at Scott County Hospital in Scott City.
She was born Nov. 18, 1909, at Haven, the daughter of Daniel and Polly (Miller) Bontrager.
A Scott County resident since 1946, moving from Harper County, she was a homemaker, and had been active in 4-H clubs and Sunday school. She was a member of Prairie View Church of the Brethren and a former member of the Ladies Fellowship, both at Friend, and was a former EHU member at Scott City.
On Aug. 23, 1931, she married Tobe R. Kaufman at Shipshewawa, Ind. He died Feb. 15, 1986, at Sarasota, Fla. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Juanita Glanville.
She is survived by three daughters, Phyllis Glanville, Leoti, Delores Bailey, Boise, Idaho, and Linda Frymyer, Sunrise Beach, Mo.; a brother, Fred Bontrager, Kendall; two sisters, Malinda Miller, Scott City, and Ida Kaufman, Buhl, Idaho; 11 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Prairie View Church of the Brethren, Friend, with the Revs. Martin Gauby and Jeff Arnold officiating. Burial will follow in Prairie View Church of the Brethren Cemetery, Friend.
Visitation hours are 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at Price & Sons Funeral Home, Scott City. Memorials to the Lydia Kaufman Memorial Fund may be sent in care of the funeral home.
Herman Funk
SCOTT CITY -- Herman Funk, 81, died Tuesday, Feb. 29, 2000, at Scott County Hospital in Scott City.
He was born Jan. 30, 1919, in Ness County, the son of Jake and Anna (Hemel) Funk.
A Scott City resident since 1942, moving from Ness County, he was a horse trainer and belonged to the First Baptist Church.
On Oct. 26, 1939, he married Nella Lewis at Ness City. She survives. Other survivors are three sons, Larry Funk and Kelly Funk, both of Garden City, and Robert Funk, Scott City; two daughters, Judy Kitch and Sheila Boyd, both of Scott City; a brother, Ben Funk, Littleton, Colo.; two sisters, Alma Betz, Great Bend, and Molly Hemel, Ness City; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter and a great-grandson.
Funeral will be 3 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, Scott City, with the Rev. Lynne Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Scott County Cemetery, Scott City.
Visitation hours are from 7 to 9 tonight, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Price & Sons Funeral Home, Scott City. Memorials are to the church, in care of the funeral home.
