Florence Letha Ocker
SUBLETTE -- Florence Letha Ocker, 93, died Wednesday, Dec. 15, 1999, at her home near Sublette.
She was born March 25, 1906, at Turon, the daughter of Jacob Jason and Elisa Jane (Marcum) Schmidt.
On Dec. 8, 1927, she married William Clayton "Bill" Ocker at Turon.
They moved to the Sublette area and, in 1934, they began farming at the old Jean Post Office, where they lived in a tent during their first year.
They purchased the farm where they worked and then lived there.
Mrs. Ocker worked with her husband on their farm.
She enjoyed raising chickens, cooking for harvest crews and watching the wheat grow.
Her lodge work and club membership were the highlights of her life.
She served as district deputy president of the Santa Fe Rebekah Lodge, and as president of Colusa EHU and the Friday Afternoon Club.
She also served on the water board and on the committee to establish a senior center in Sublette.
She enjoyed quilting, crafting, sewing, crocheting, touring the United States, playing cards with her friends at the Pride of Life Center, and spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by her daughter, Virginia Williams, Sublette; three grandchildren; seven stepgrandchildren; four great-grandchildren; 27 stepgreat-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; two stepgreat-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Herbert Schmidt, Ault, Colo., and Emery Schmidt, Stafford; and numerous nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her husband; five brothers, George Schmidt, Lewis Schmidt, Albert Schmidt, Leonard Schmidt and Everett Schmidt; and a sister, Minnie Ocker.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday at the Christian Church, Sublette, with the Rev. David Erwin officiating.
Burial will be in Copeland Cemetery, Copeland.
Visitation hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. today, Friday and Saturday and from 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Haskell County Funeral Home, Sublette.

Elaine D. Vaughan
SCOTT CITY -- Memorial service for Elaine D. Vaughan, 62, a former resident of Scott City, will be 3 p.m. Friday at Sunrise United Methodist Church, 2655 Briargate Blvd., Colorado Springs, Colo.
Another memorial service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Jan. 8, 2000, at the United Methodist Church, 412 College St., Scott City.
Mrs. Vaughan died Monday, Dec. 13, 1999, at Colorado Springs.
She was born June 22, 1937, at Ellsworth.
Retired from Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs, Mrs. Vaughan had worked as a medical records technician.
She had previously resided in Scott City and Garden City, moving to Colorado Springs in the late 1980s.
On Aug. 26, 1956, she married Marion D. Vaughan.
He survives.
Other survivors are three sons, Daniel D. and Robert E., both of Colorado Springs, and Steven A., Aurora, Colo.; two daughters, Linda S. Stillwell and Janet M. Briggs, both of Colorado Springs; a brother, John Harper; two sisters, Connie Crapson and Virginia Simmonds; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Rose Mary Bishop
TRIBUNE -- Vigil service for Rose Mary Bishop, 85, will be 7 p.m. MDT Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Tribune.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. MDT Friday at the church, with the Rev. Gregory S. LeBlanc officiating.
Burial will be in Greeley County Cemetery, Tribune.
Mrs. Bishop died Monday, Dec. 13, 1999, at Greeley County Hospital in Tribune.
She was born Sept. 26, 1914, in Greeley County, the daughter of Stephen P. and Mary A. (Downs) McGee.
A lifetime resident of Greeley County, she was a homemaker and belonged to St. Joseph Catholic Church, Embroidery Club, Grandma's Club and the Study Club.
On May 13, 1933, she married Wm. Howard Bishop at Wallace.
He died Oct. 29, 1992, at Tribune.
She was also preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
She is survived by three sons, Homer, Farmington, N.M., Melvin, Wray, Colo., and Gilbert, Tribune; four daughters, Wilma Cole, Hutchinson, Faye LeBlanc, Garden City, Maurine Pruitt, Wichita, and Jeanie Huddleston, Burlington, Colo.; a sister, Ruth Morgan, Tribune; 13 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two stepgreat-grandchildren.
Visitation hours are until 9 MDT tonight and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. MDT Thursday at Price & Sons Funeral Home, Tribune.
Memorials are suggested to the church or Greeley County Hospital, both in care of the funeral home.
Jerry S. Cole Jr.
Funeral for former Garden City resident Jerry S. Cole Jr., 30, of Lexington, Neb., was 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at First Christian Church in Lexington, with the Rev. Tom Reynolds officiating.
Burial followed in Greenwood Cemetery, Lexington.
Mr. Cole died Saturday, Dec. 11, 1999, at Lexington, from injuries suffered after he was hit by a train while riding a bicycle.
He was born Jan. 28, 1969, at Ulysses, the son of Jerry S. Sr. and Patricia (Miller) Cole.
He graduated from Lakin High School in 1987 and earned a bachelor's degree in criminal justice from the National University in San Diego in 1992.
Mr. Cole was employed by Wal-Mart as the district loss prevention manager.
He served in the U.S. Navy, being honorably discharged in 1992.
He was a member of the First Christian Church in Lexington, where he was the junior high Sunday School teacher.
He also belonged to Promise Keepers and was involved in the Lexington Community Theater.
He enjoyed mountain biking and flying.
On Sept. 14, 1991, he married Veronica Schultz at Valley Center, Calif. She survives.
He is also survived by a son, Calvin Cole, Lexington; two sisters, Shelly Melvin, Colby, and Sarah Cole, Oklahoma City; his parents, Jerry Cole Sr., Oklahoma City, and Patricia McCollum, Garden City; his grandparents, Jim and Betty Cole, Lakin, and Hank and Avon Miller, Syracuse; a niece; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Edwin James Cram
Memorial service for Edwin James Cram, 78, of Alliance, Neb., will be 2 p.m. Thursday at the United Methodist Church, Alliance, with the Rev. Mark Schutt officiating.
Mr. Cram died Monday, Dec. 13, 1999, at the Good Samaritan Health Care Center in Alliance.
He was born Feb. 5, 1921, at Craig, Neb., the son of Victor and Irma (Healea) Cram.
Mr. Cram lived in Tilden and Chadron, Neb., working in the implement and car sales business before moving to Alliance 36 years ago.
He was the owner and operator of All-Star Cars and Ed's Storage.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church, was American Legion commander at Tilden and belonged to the Eagles Club.
He entered the U.S. Air Force in 1942 and served until 1945, attaining the rank of Second Lieutenant.
On April 3, 1942, he married Bette Ashburn at Tilden. She survives.
Other survivors are a daughter, Carolee Jehlik, Garden City; two sisters, Mary Ellen Anderson and Margaret Magwire, both of Grand Island, Neb.; four grandchildren, including Julie Rupp of Garden City; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Alan Robert Cram.
