Martha White
Martha White, 79, of Wichita died Wednesday, Dec. 15, 1999.
She was born in Inman and attended schools at Buhler.
She was a retired accounting supervisor for the First National Bank.
Survivors include: her husband, George, of the home; a son, James, Wichita;
two daughters, Karla Terrel, Phoenix, and Anita Loepp, Wichita; three brothers,
Menno Loepp, Inman, Rueben Loepp, Hutchinson, and David Loepp, Boise, Idaho;
six sisters, Marie Draemel, Salina, Ester Willems, Hutchinson, Ann Plett,
Garden City, Leona Koslowski Hillsboro, Helen Faul, Worthington, Minn.,
and Velma Schroeder, Windom; and a grandchild.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. today at Resthaven Mortuary Chapel, Wichita.
Memorials may be sent to the American Lung Association in care of the mortuary.
Doris 'Jean' Sassaman
Funeral for Doris "Jean" Sassaman, 75, will be 10 a.m. Saturday at
St. James Lutheran Church, Garden City, with Glenn Frecks and the
Rev. Robert Cousins officiating.
Burial will be 1 p.m. Monday in Wakita (Okla.) Cemetery.
Mrs. Sassaman died Wednesday, Dec. 15, 1999, at St. Catherine Hospital
in Garden City.
She was born July 3, 1924, at Wakita, the daughter of Charles C.
and Alda A. (Garrett) Horning.
A resident of Garden City since 1965, moving from Wichita,
she was a homemaker and a member of St. James Lutheran Church.
She loved her family, loved nature and loved to travel.
On Dec. 24, 1945, she married Lewis H. Sassaman at Anthony.
He survives.
She is also survived by two sons, Lonnie E. Sassaman, Garden City,
and Randy L. Sassaman, Phoenix; two sisters, Ruth Bogil, Slidell,
La., and Deanie Gibbons, Wakita; six grandchildren; and three
great-grandchildren.
There will be no visitation.
Memorials are suggested to the Mayo Clinic of Scottsdale, Ariz., for
myelodysplasis research, in care of Price & Sons Funeral Home,
Garden City.
Wilma Wright
SUBLETTE: Wilma Wright, 82, of Sublette, died Tuesday, Dec. 4, 1999,
at the Bethel Home Inc., Montezuma, where she had been a resident.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the Church of the
Nazarene, Sublette, with the Rev. Andrew Shimko and the
Rev. Gary Wright officiating.
Burial will be at Haskell County Cemetery, Sublette.
Mrs. Wright was born Jan. 22, 1917, at Cawker City, the daughter
of George and Opal (Rickman) Winkle.
She married Merle Wright June 11, 1939, at Colby.
A homemaker, she was a member of the Church of the Nazarene, Sublette.
Survivors include her husband; one son, Gary Wright of El Dorado; a
daughter, Sue Harrison of Sublette; two sisters, Phyllis Wells of
Hill City, and Lorraine Gaskill, Beloit; six grandchildren; and 17
great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; by two sisters, Carolann File
and Jerry Benge; a brother, Max Edward Winkle; and two great-grandchildren.
Friends may call today until 8 p.m. at Haskell County Funeral Home, Sublette.

Lillian McKinley
DIGHTON -- Memorial service for Lillian McKinley, 90, will be 2 p.m.
Friday at Bible Fellowship Church, Dighton, with the Rev. Carl Helm
officiating.
Burial will be in Dighton Memorial Cemetery.
Mrs. McKinley died Wednesday, Dec. 15, 1999, at Lane County
Long Term Care Unit in Dighton.
She was born Aug. 19, 1909, at Grigston, the daughter of
John N. and Francis (Vesecky) Pivonka.
She attended Division Grade School in Lane County and
Dighton High School, graduated from Hays High School and then
took nursing training in Hays.
She married James D. Pettigrew and later married James B. McKinley,
who preceded her in death.
She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Augusta and
Antonia; and five brothers, Jack, Louis, Frank, George and Floyd.
Mrs. McKinley worked as a cook and baker in Dighton before
moving to Hayward, Calif., in 1952.
She was the manager of the school lunch program in Hayward
from 1954 until retiring in 1974 and moving to Mesa, Ariz.
She returned to Dighton in 1997.
She was a member of Cactus Christian Church of Phoenix.
Her special interests were her church and family activities, and she enjoyed crafts.
Survivors are two sons, Jimmy D. Pettigrew, Lafayette, Colo., and Jay A. McKinley, Phoenix; two daughters, Jerry L. Burwell, Tonganoxie, and Karen L. Dumler, Dighton; 14 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and a brother, John Pivonka, Wichita.
