Grace Unger

SATANTA -- Grace Unger, 94, died Wednesday, Dec. 22, 1999, at Satanta District Hospital.

She was born Nov. 24, 1905, at Greensburg, Ky., the daughter of Jimmie Joe and Adah Nora (Gorin) Tucker.

On June 9, 1924, she married Royal Nile Unger at Dodge City.

They moved from Ford to Satanta in 1941.

He died Dec. 20, 1996.

She was also preceded in death by a son, Raymond Gerald Unger; a daughter, Pauline Ellen Unger, two brothers, Frank Tucker and Walter Tucker; five sisters, Lucille Gish, Pauline Pittman, Catherine Shelton, Jessiamine Roberts and Rachel Toward; and a grandson.

Mrs. Unger had been the owner and operator of the Seven Daughters Cafe in Satanta, was in charge of the Modoc Hotel Cafe, and had worked as a cook at Satanta High School for eight years and as a custodian there for five years.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Sunshine Club, Methodist Women Circle and the Happy Agers, all at Satanta, and was an honorary member and past noble grand of Rebekah Lodge at Liberal.

She is survived by seven daughters, Nilene Cunningham, Jennie Kay Harrison, Donna Jane Connor and Georgia Lynne Moree, all of Satanta, Mary Etta McMinn, Caddo Mills, Texas, Betty Jo Young, Moscow, and Norma Grace Gross, Cedar Rapids, Iowa; a sister, Nora Beatrice Triboulet, Ulysses; 21 grandchildren; 52 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday at the United Methodist Church, Satanta, with the Revs. Larry Myers and Dana Wood officiating.

Burial will be at 3 p.m. in Minneola Cemetery, Minneola.

Visitation hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. today and Friday, and from 2 to 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Haskell County Funeral Home, Sublette.

Memorials are suggested to the Happy Agers of Satanta and may be left at Shopping Stop True Value at Satanta or mailed to the funeral home, Box 607, Sublette, KS 67877.

Twilo Ann Gillum

SYRACUSE -- Twilo Ann Gillum, 69, a former Syracuse resident, died Saturday, Dec. 18, 1999, at St. Joseph Hospital in Ponca City, Okla.

She was born Nov. 21, 1930, at Syracuse, the daughter of George and Fae (Grubbs) Fuller.

On May 20, 1948, she married Erwin Gillum at Syracuse.

He died March 18, 1992.

She was also preceded in death by two sons.

A homemaker, Mrs. Gillum had lived in the Syracuse area for many years before moving to Ponca City.

She was baptized in the Presbyterian Church

She is survived by a daughter, Karolyn Cutshall, Ponca City; two sisters, Reva Glenn, Lakewood, Colo., and Aletha Lane, Syracuse; five grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and 10 stepgreat-grandchildren.

Funeral will be 10 a.m. MST Thursday at Greene Funeral Home Chapel, Syracuse, with Rodney Fairchild officiating. "Burial will be in Syracuse Cemetery.

Visitation hours are 2 to 8 p.m. MST Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorials to the family may be sent in care of the funeral home.

Darlene A. Pugh

Funeral for Darlene A. Pugh, 59, of Findlay, Ohio, will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Coldren-Crates Funeral Home, Findlay, with the Rev. Ken W. Hasekamp officiating.

Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Findlay.

Mrs. Pugh died Friday, Dec. 17, 1999, at Blanchard Valley Regional Health Center in Findlay.

Born in Garden City on Aug. 25, 1940, she was the daughter of Hubert L. and A. Alline (Gosnell) Dougherty.

Mrs. Pugh was a retired Head Start preschool teacher at HHWP Community Action Commission and was formerly employed at RCA Findlay for nearly 20 years.

She was a member of Parkview Church of Christ at Findlay and a life member of Disabled American Veteran Buddy, Auxiliary Chapter No. 43.

On Oct. 2, 1966, she married James R. Pugh. He survives.

Other survivors are a son, James H. Pugh, Findlay; two daughters, Toni Pugh, Arcadia, Ohio, and Nikki Pugh, Dunkirk, Ohio; her mother, Findlay; six grandchildren; and two sisters, S. Sue Schirtzinger, Pawleys Island, S.C., and L. Elaine VanAtta, Findlay.

Visitation hours are until 8 tonight at the funeral home, with the ladies chapter of Auxiliary Chapter No. 43 Disabled American Veterans having a memorial service at 7 p.m.

Memorials to the Darlene A. Pugh Memorial Fund may be sent in care of the funeral home, 205 W. Sandusky St., Findlay, OH 45840.

Gertrude Owen Fagerquist

DIGHTON -- Gertrude Owen Fagerquist, 81, died Thursday, Dec. 16, 1999, at the Lane County Long Term Care Unit in Dighton.

She was born March 22, 1918, at Amy to Elton E. and Jessie Belle (Bickers) Owen.

Mrs. Fagerquist attended Amy Grade School and graduated from Dighton High School.

She married Harold Gilbert Fagerquist on Nov. 10, 1937, at Dodge City.

He died Jan. 31, 1986.

She and Harold lived on the family farm until moving into Dighton in 1946.

She was the secretary at Dighton Grade School for 19 years and then at the First Christian Church for 2 1/2 years.

Her special interests were her activities in church, where she taught Sunday School for 40 years, served as a deaconess and played the piano and organ.

She also enjoyed playing bridge, crafts, watching sports and, for the past five years, had written the weekly long-term care column for The Dighton Herald.

Survivors include: two sons, Max of Anderson, Calf., and Larry of Dighton; a daughter, Millie Thomas of Emporia; four brothers, Rex Owen of Dighton, Jerry Owen of Midwest City, Okla., Tom Owen of Fort Dodge and Dick Owen of El Dorado, Ark.; two sisters, Jean Pelton of El Paso, Texas, and Carolyn Turner of Cassville, Mo.; and five grandchildren.

Funeral is 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the First Christian Church in Dighton with the Revs. Mike Grogan and Kerry Grogan officiating.

Burial is in Dighton Memorial Cemetery.

Memorials can be made to the First Christian Church in care of Boomhower Funeral Home.

Calling hours are 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday.

Inez Marie Neely

HAYS -- Inez Neely, 84, died Thursday, Dec. 16, 1999, at her home in Hays.

Mrs. Neely was born Sept. 13, 1915, in Bucklin, the daughter of Charles and Nellie (Dellinger) Redfield.

On Nov. 13, 1937, she marred John Earl Neely in Dodge City.

He died Jan. 7, 1984.

She graduated from Bucklin High School and was a pianist and an artist.

She was a member of the Garden City Christian Church and was the church organist before moving to Hays in March of 1998.

Survivors include: two sons, Steven Neely of Dever, Colo., and John Neely of Buxton, Ore.; three daughters; Sandra Nicholson of Hays, Cherilyn Upchurch of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Jean Crosby of Kansas City, Mo.; two brothers, Duane Redfield of Canby, Ore., and Harold Redfield of Batavia, Ill.; two sisters, June Hanne of Bucklin and Fae Elland of Hutchinson; and 10 grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by brothers Merle and Elwin Redfield.

No services are planned at this time. Cremation has taken place.

The family suggest memorials in her name be made to Hays Legal Services in care of Hays Memorial Chapel Inc.
