MELTON E. DAVIS
SNYDER, Texas -- Melton Edwin Davis, 90, died Saturday, Nov. 11, 2006, at Codgell Memorial Hospital in Snyder, Texas.
He was born Nov. 15, 1915, to John Gilmer and Bettie Jane (Melton) Davis in Borden County, Texas.
He married Martha Mae Horton March 19, 1939, in Snyder. She survives.
He served as a corporal in the Army Air Corps from October 1942 until December 1943 and was stationed at Big Spring, Texas.
He was a retired farmer who lived and farmed on the land his father homesteaded in 1899. He served as a school board member for Borden County ISD from 1951 to 1962, including serving a term as board president.
He was a long-time member of First Assembly of God Church in Snyder where he served on the Board of Trustees and as Sunday school superintendent for more than 50 years. He was also a youth leader and taught Sunday School for many years.
He is also survived by four sons, Edwin Davis and wife, Betty, Joshua, Texas, Darrel Davis and wife, Litha, Lubbock, Texas, Delwyn Davis and wife, Judy, Snyder, and Kendall Davis and wife, Wendy, Poteau, Okla.; one daughter, Janice Northerns and husband, Bill McGlothing, Liberal; 15 grandchildren, Eddie Davis, Patrice Brown, Jaycne Conner, Sarah Clay, Adrian Davis, Marcus Davis, Laura Ritchey, Stephanie Zalman, Alyssa Davis, Jannica Northerns, Jordan Northerns, Michael Davis, Darin Davis, Jarrett Davis and Bradley Davis; 13 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Della Brooks, Loop, Texas, and Lura Perry, Lake Thomas, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Gilmer Davis; two sisters, Ruth Bryant and Pearl Ford; five half brothers and sisters, Rosa Cotten, Marshall Davis, Mildred Skelton, Edith Davis, and Esther Peevyhouse; and two stepbrothers, Johnny and Bethel Graham.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the First Assembly of God in Snyder with Pastor Steven Pena presiding, assisted by the Rev. Eddie Davis, grandson, and the Rev. Phil Brown, son-in-law.
Burial will follow at Hillside Memorial Gardens in Snyder.

LAWRENCE F. THORNTON
Thornton, Lawrence Fred "Larry", 76, retired Beech Aircraft Avionics Engineer, died Tuesday, November 14, 2006. Memorial service 10:30 A.M., Friday, November 17, St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. Larry was a PGA Golf Professional, a pilot, and was involved with Junior Golf. Survivors: wife, Judy (Rogers) Thornton; son, Phillip Thornton (Vicki) of Cottonwood Falls, KS; daughters, Kim Gould (Ron) of Kailua, Oahu, HI and Melissa Taylor (Curtis) of Apache Junction, AZ; step-sons, Jeff Williams of Kansas City, KS and Tony Williams (Lisa) of Wichita; step-daughter, Gina Williams (Glenn Crosby) of Derby, KS; 7 grandchildren; 5 step-grandchildren.

FRANK J. BRASCA
Frank Joseph Brasca, 81, died Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2006, at Southwest Medical Center.
He was born Feb. 22, 1925, to Dominick and Lucille (Moratto) Brasca in Brooklyn, N.Y.
He married Helen (Zukywich) Brasca Aug. 31, 1947, in Queens, N.Y. She survives.
He graduated from high school in Queens.
He was a retired train repairman for the Long Island Railroad.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Other survivors include one son, William Brasca and wife, Lorraine, Wichita; one daughter, Anna Vartian and husband, Dave, Liberal; six grandchildren, Gene Menachio, Corrie Trujillo, Jonathan Vartian, William Brasca Jr., Leah Brasca and Joshua Brasca; two great-grandchildren, Mariah Trujillo and Zabrianna Menachio; one brother, Michael Brasca, Copaigue Long Island, N.Y.; and one sister, Catherine Critelli, Delray Beach, Fla.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Graveside services will be at 3:30 p.m. today at Restlawn Cemetery
with Doug Williams presiding.
KENNETH P. CRAIN
LAKIN -- Kenneth Paul Crain, 41, died Saturday, Nov. 11, 2006, at Harry Hynes Hospice in Wichita.
He was born Sept. 22, 1965, to Bill and Darlene Urie in Sublette.
He attended Liberal schools.
He worked in a nursury in Liberal before going to Seaboard in Moscow in the hog production department.
He enjoyed motorcycles, gardening and listening to country music.
He is survived by his parents; two daughters, Heather Crain, Warrensburg, Mo., and Jessica Shaw, Warrensburg; and one stepson, Daniel Ratzlaff, Warrensburg.
Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Monday at Lakin Cemetery
with Father Mike Helms presiding.
Memorials are suggested to Kearny County Healthcare Foundation in care of Garnand Funeral Home in Lakin.
BENNET H. CONNET JR.
WICHITA -- Bennet H. Connet Jr., 77, died Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2006.
Survivors include one son, Marvin Connet and wife, Jackie, Wichita; one daughter, Marilyn Percell and husband, Matthew, Marion; four grandchildren, Austin Marie, Shelby Cheyenne, Montana Dawn and Myria Yongwei; three sisters, Twila Connet, Andover, Wilma Swaggart, Wichita, and Marvalee Heun and husband, Butch, Wichita; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elma.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Mulvane United Methodist Church.
Burial will follow at Mulvane Cemetery.
Visitation with the family present will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday, and viewing will be from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday, both at DeVorss Flanagan-Hunt Mortuary in Wichita.
AUGUSTIN DE LA TORRE
Augustin De La Torre -- Guevara, 78, died Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2007, at Souhwest Medical Center in Liberal.
He was born May 5, 1929, to Jose and Eulogia (Guevara) De La Torre in Mexico.
He married Antonia Araiza. She died Dec. 15, 1999.
He was a farmer and attended St. Anthony Catholic Church of Liberal. He had studied at the Colvin Learning Center in Liberal.
Survivors include four sons, Jose Antonio De La Torre and wife, Maria Santillan of Delicias, Chih., Mexico, Luis Amado De La Torre and wife, Rosa Emma Piņa, Camargo, Chih., Mexico, Joaquin De La Torre and wife, Socorro, Camargo, Roberto De La Torre and wife, Mayeia Piņa, Camargo; two daughters, Maria Del Refojio and husband, Pablo Ramirez, Camargo, Carmen Helena De La Torre and husband, Jorge Alberto Loya, Camargo; 21 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Antonia De La Torre, Esmerelda, Calif.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Ofelia De La Torre; one brother, Leonor De La Torre; and two sisters, Cruz De La Torre and Socorro De La Torre.
Rosary will be at 8 p.m. Thursday at Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home Chapel and led by Father Tony Judge.
Burial will take place at a later time in Camargo, Chih., Mexico.
Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and 9 a.m. to noon on Friday at the funeral home.
ERNA V. KING
Erna Victoria "Vicky" King, 30, died Saturday, Feb. 24, 2007, at K.U. Medical Center in Kansas City, Kan.
She was born April 25, 1976, to Arthur and Travistine (Miller) Owens in Beaver, Okla.
She married Alvin King March 11, 1999, in Liberal. He survives.
She worked as a log clerk for National Carriers.
She was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness.
She is also survived by her mother; one son, Martavious King, Liberal; two daughters, Rhyniqua King, Liberal, and Shaneska King, Liberal; two brothers, Dexter Owens, Liberal, and Charlie Turner, Liberal; and one sister, Stacy Owens, Liberal.
She was preceded in death by her father; two brothers, Sabastian and Steven Owens; and one sister, Linda Faye Owens.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home Chapel.
Burial will be at Liberal Cemetery.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home.

STEVE NOSEKABEL
Steve Nosekabel, 51, died Friday, Feb. 23, 2007, at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal.
He was born March 16, 1955, to Glen and Carole Omer Nosekabel in Sioux City, Iowa.
He married Dora Perez May 27, 1987, in Las Vegas.
She survives.
He graduated from Southwestern Highs High School in 1975.
He was supervisor of fabrication at National Beef Packing Company for 18 years, and for the past six years he owned and operated Hawkins Cleaning Service.
He attended the First Baptist Church in Liberal.
He is also survived by his father; one son, Stevie Nosekabel, Liberal; one daughter, Julieann Nosekabel, Ulysses; one granddaughter, Aaliyah Gomez; one brother, Bret Nosekabel and wife, Koleen, Kismet; and one sister, Lisa Warden and husband, Dennis, Broken Arrow, Okla.
He was preceded in death by his mother.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church in Liberal with the Rev. David Bagwell presiding.
Burial will be at Kismet Cemetery.
Friends may call until 8 p.m. today at Miller Mortuary.
