VIOLA J. NEAR
GARDEN CITY Viola Jean (Meairs) Near, 75, died Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2004, at her residence in Garden City.
She was born Jan. 3, 1929, to Laurence G. and Helen Arila (Fansler) Meairs in Haskell County.
She married Bob Fulton in August of 1950. He died in 1973.
She then married Jake Near Dec. 4, 1976, in Denver. He preceded her in death.
She attended Sublette Schools. She attended Garden City Community College and graduated from Emporia State College.
She taught school in the Deerfield and Lakin areas.
She worked in Garden City as a receptionist at the courthouse.
She was baptized and was a member of the Christian Church in Sublette.
Her hobbies were teaching, camping out, fishing and boating.
Survivors include two brothers, L.G. Meairs and wife Wanda, Sublette, and Earl Meairs and wife Gwen, Sublette; one sister, Helen Geist, Hutchinson; and many nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, one brother, James Lane Meairs and two sisters, Betty Marie Watson and Electa Mae Chaloupek.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Friday at the Christian Church in Sublette with Ministers David Erwin and Don Carter presiding.
Burial will be in the Valley View Cemetery
in Garden City.
Friends may call until 8 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Haskell County Funeral Home.

BETTY J. HALE
HAUGHTON, La. Betty Jeane Hale, died Sunday, Oct. 24, 2004.
She worked in medical records at Green Clinic in Ruston, La., for many years.
She was a member of Airline Driver Church of Christ in Bossier City, La., and was a former member of Arcadia Church of Christ in Arcadia, La.
Survivors include one son, Kenneth Hale and wife Myra, Vienna, La.; two daughters, Tracie Keys and husband Ted, Haughton, La., and Lori Vancil and husband Mark, Memphis, Tenn.; four grandchildren, Heather Keys, Lara Keys, Aaron Vancil and Andrea Vancil; four brothers, Alva Decker and Lloyd Decker, both of Satanta, Eugene Decker, Albuquerque, N.M., and Dale Decker, Sublette; and two sisters, Ruth Dale, Oregon, and Mary Lou Alexander, Los Angeles.
Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m., Thursday at Dudley Township Cemetery
in Satanta.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. today at Forest Park Funeral Home in Shreveport, La.

MARILYN J. OLSON
ULYSSES Marilyn Jane Olson, 71, died Thursday, Oct. 28, 2004, after a short illness of lung cancer.
She was born Jan. 15, 1933, to Ralph Peter and Ruby Louise (Rosenkranz) Selness at Fairmount, Minn.
She married George T. Olson Nov. 9, 1951, in Bethesda Md. He survives.
She graduated in 1950 from Wheaton High School in Dumont, Minn.
She worked in the meat department at Bill's IGA for 25 years and was currently the assistant activities director at Western Prairie Care Home in Ulysses.
She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Durmont, Minn., and Rose Lane Church of God in Ulysses.
She loved her home, kids, grandkids and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed her friends, church and places she worked.
Other survivors include one son, Thomas Olson, Newton; three daughters, Cindy Beckman and husband Nick, Dumas, Texas, Pam Arnold and husband Mike, Ulysses, and Dianna Nikkel and husband Johnny, Wichita; 11 grandchildren, Michael Lee, Carey Lee, Jason Beckman, Jennifer Wieland, Rob White, Jessi Arnold, Heather Phares, Heath Nikkel, Joshua Olson, Jandi Olson and Terra Perkins; 11 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Larry Selness, Olympia, Wash.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, Marjorie Marthe, Lona Zblewski and Vicki Ritter and one brother, Darrell Selness.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Rose Lane Church of God in Ulysses with Pastors Mike Wirt, Kenneth and Alma Lampp presiding.
Burial will follw in Ulysses Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today at Garnand Funeral Home.

KEITH M. HALL
Keith Michael Hall, infant, died Thursday, Oct. 28, 2004, at Southwest Medical Center.
He was born to Jonathan Hall and Ashley Basile.
Survivors include grandparents, Edward Basile, Oklahoma City, Samantha Volden and Travis Imel, Liberal, Bill and Jean Mains, Liberal, and Randall Hall, Lynchburg, Va.; great-grandparents, Marian Bellman, Lakewood, Calif., Deby Morris, San Diego, Berdie Jones, Hickory, N.C., Felix Jones, Blair, W.Va., Larry Mains, Garnett, and Rhonda and Garan Imel, Liberal; great-great-grandparents, Betty Braithwaite, San Bernadino, Calif., James and Nelda Rhoads, Elkhart, Virgie Marie Imel, San Antonio, and Gloria and Alvin Hittle, Liberal; and great-great-great-grandmother, Mildred Hall, Hugoton.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Restlawn Cemetery.

FLOYD D. BOND
PLAINS Floyd Dean Bond, 63, died Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2004, at Southwest Medical Center.
He was born March 14, 1941, to Charles Vinton and Lena (Schell) Bond in Liberal.
He married Arva Lea Shelman Sept. 2, 1960, at the United Methodist Church in Meade. She survives.
He was a foreman for ANR Pipeline.
He enjoyed traveling, camping and fishing.
Other survivors include two daughters, Merinda Sue Cussins and husband Steven, Plains, and Linda Kay Collins and husband Darrell, Plains; five grandchildren, Julie Dawn Buttry, Justin Michael Swank and wife Michelle, DeWayne Eugene Collins, Taylor Dane Collins and Kiana Kay Collins; three great-grandchildren, Malikye Drake Younker, Tucker Michael Swank and Brecklin Wayde Buttry; seven brothers, Oscar LeRoy Bond, Pratt, Carl Ray Bond, Girard, Charles Larry Bond, Garden City, John Alvin Bond, Liberal, James Dale Bond, Liberal, Edward Lee Bond, Plains, and Benny Joe Bond, Plains; and four sisters, Eldena Winfrey, Plains, Lena Faye Henderson, Plains, Karliss Cox, Plains, and Melba Vanosdol, Woodward, Okla.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the United Methodist Church in Plains with the Rev. Terry Mayhew presiding.
Burial will be in Plains Cemetery.
Friends may call from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday and from 1 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary in Meade.

DIXIE L. WYNN
COPELAND Dixie Lee Wynn, 72, died Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2004, in an automobile accident near Wichita.
She was born Oct. 26, 1932, to Joseph and Willie Mae (Russell) Unruh in Copeland.
She married Frazier E. Wynn June 4, 1960, in Copeland. He died May 25, 1997.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of the Christian Church in Copeland.
She loved her family.
Survivors include two sons, Jeff Wynn and wife Kathrine, Mulvane, and Larry Wynn and wife Trina, Colwich; one daughter, Cindy Walker and husband Douglas, Mulvane; five grandchildren, Alex Wynn, Harrison Wynn, Lindsey Wynn, Joshua Walker and Jarett Wynn; three sisters, Junivee Black and husband Robert, South Hutchinson, Myrtis Faye Walters, St. Louis, and Sonya Reese and husband Jerry, Garden City; and many relatives and friends.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Eva Lois Hopkins.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Christian Church in Copeland with Pastor Bruce Titus presiding.
Burial will be in the Copeland Cemetery.

MILDRED M. CLINE
FREDONIA Mildred McGugin Cline, 90, died Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2004, at Beverly Health and Rehab in Fredonia.
She was born Feb. 27, 1914, to James Edgar and Esther Eunice (Miller) Millis in Duck Creek Township.
She married Paul W. McGugin Jan. 25, 1932, in Independence. He died Sept. 25, 1971.
She then married Lewis Ross Cline Nov. 6, 1976, in Fredonia. He survives.
She graduated from eighth grade at Fairview School and attended two years of high school in Fredonia.
She was a member of the Buxton Christian Church.
Her hobbies included gardening, reading, crocheting, playing the guitar and singing.
Other survivors include one daughter, Irene Hecox and husband Vern, Tyrone, Okla.; two stepsons, Wayne Cline and his wife Twila, Topeka, and Larry Cline and wife Norma, Manhattan; one stepdaughter, Elva Mae Boicourt and husband Bill, Fredonia; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; nine step grandchildren; 21 step great-grandchildren; seven step great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Melba Mitchell, Neodesha; one brother, Eugene Millis, Neodesha; and one son-in-law, Calvin E. Clark, Bartlesville, Okla.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Lillie Mae Clark, two brothers, Edgar Junior and Lee Wesley Millis and three nephews.
Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Timmons Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Gene Benefiel of the Buxton Christian Church presiding.
Burial will be in the Mt. Pleasant/Belleview Cemetery
near Buxton.
The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
