CHANDLER C. SANDOVAL
HUGOTON Chandler Clay Sandoval, 18, died Sunday, Aug. 8, 2004, in an auto accident near Hugoton.
He was born Dec. 31, 1985, to Christopher Manuel and Kimberly Kaye (Crites) Sandoval in Liberal.
He graduated from Hugoton High School in May 2004.
He was a member of St. Helen Catholic Church.
He was president of the Wranglers 4-H Club, president of the FFA Chapter and PALS Organization, all of Hugoton.
Survivors include his parents; one brother, Kassidy Lane Sandoval, Hugoton; one sister, Kenzey Kaye Sandoval, Hugoton; grandparents, Cipriano and Refugia Marie Sandoval, Guymon, Okla., and Sue Forrest, Woodward, Okla.; and many relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Wilbur Raymond Crites.
Funeral mass will be at 2 p.m., Thursday at Hugoton High School Auditorium with Father Michael McAndrew presiding.
Vigil services will be at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday at St. Helen Catholic Church with Father Francis Khoi Nguyen presiding.
Burial will be in Hugoton Cemetery.
Friends may call until 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.

ELSIE M. LUCAS
ELKHART Elsie M. Lucas, 80, died Tuesday, Aug. 10, 2004, at Morton County Hospital in Elkhart.
She was born July 6, 1924, to Charles Clarence and Elsie Angela (Ross) Hoskinson in St. John.
She married Phillip Aaron Lucas July 4, 1943, in St. John. He died Oct. 11, 1993.
She graduated from St. John High School in 1942.
She worked at the Drug Store in St. John, a motel in Denver and a P & E Boot and Shoe Repair Shop in Ulysses.
Survivors include two sons, Edward Charles Lucas and wife Jan, Toledo, Ohio, and Jerry Lucas and wife Evelyn, Elkhart; two daughters, Judy Miller and husband Bruce, Zenda, and Rosemary Norton and husband Vern, Ulysses; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Donald Sheperd, Las Vegas; and one sister, Edith Sloyer, Henderson, Nev.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m., Friday at First Church of God, Elkhart, with Pastor John Morden presiding.
Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. at Ulysses Cemetery.
Friends may call until 8 p.m. today at Garnand Funeral Home in Elkhart.

M. EVELYN WILSON
FOWLER M. Evelyn Wilson, 83, died Thursday, Aug. 12, 2004, at Western Plains Medical Complex in Dodge City.
She was born Sept. 3, 1920, to Fred Austin and Ella Ruth in Meade.
She married Clifford O. Wilson May 2, 1953, in Wichita. He died Nov. 7, 1994.
She was a graduate of Meade High School. After graduation, she attended the Wesley Hospital Nurses Training program in Wichita.
She was a nurse at Fowler Hospital. She later became instrumental in the organization and operation of Fowler Nursing Home, serving as the head nurse.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Fowler.
She was a former member of the American Legion Auxiliary of Fowler.
Survivors include a son, Randy Wilson and wife Rhonda Botts, Wichita; one grandson, Eric Botts and wife Crystal; two great-grandsons, Devin and Justin Botts; and three sisters, Bessie Ford, Meade, Nadine Curtis, Pomona, Calif., and Dorothy Graham, Pomona, Calif.
She was also preceded in death by one son, Douglas K. Wilson, her parents, and three brothers, Chester Leroy Graham, Fredrick Wayne Graham and Lester Lee Elzea.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Saturday at the United Methodist Church in Fowler with the Rev. Dick Robbins presiding.
Burial will be in the Fowler Cemetery.
Friends may call until 6 p.m. today at Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary in Meade and from noon until service time Saturday at the church.
Memorials are suggested to the United Methodist Church in care of the funeral home.
NOAL 'BUD' BISHOP
Noal "Bud" Bishop, 78, died Aug. 12, 2004, at Cushing Hospital in Leavenworth.
He was born Aug. 10, 1926, to George Washington and Nettie Phselphia (Rodgers) Bishop in Watonga, Okla.
He married Anna Davis at Clayton N.M. She died in 1995.
He later married Mary Vogle Sandoval. She died in 2004.
He had been a long time resident of Liberal before moving to Leavenworth in 1996.
He worked as a roofer and crew leader for Fox Roofing in Liberal for many years before retiring in 1996.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include four sons, George Bishop, Glenwood, Ark., Richard Bishop, Glenwood, Ark., Jay Bishop, Washington state and Cletus Sanders, Liberal; five daughters, Cheryl Bishop, Kansas, Valoria C. Medina, Caddogap, Ark., Donna Trammel, Norman, Ark., Stacey Meyer, Leavenworth and Delorah Banka, Gulport, Miss.; 17 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Patricia Bishop.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Plains Cemetery
in Plains.

NILA J. MATKIN
STAFFORD Nila Jean Matkin, 67, died Saturday, Aug. 14, 2004, at Via Christie St. Francis in Wichita.
She was born Aug. 15, 1936, to Harvey Gerald and Lois Herrington Martin in Paris, Ill.
She married Duane Graham in September 1954 in Liberal. They later divorced.
She then married Don Matkin in November 1981 in Miami, Okla. He died in January 1983.
She was a 1954 graduate of Plains High School.
She had been a bookkeeper for several different businesses.
She was a past president for the JayCee Janes in Plains and enjoyed quilting and working with crafts and sewing.
Survivors include two sons, Bland Graham, Hutchinson, and Devin Graham, Fayettville, Ark.; two daughters, Venissa McMillan, Stafford, and Abby Carpenter, Parsons; eight grandchildren; one great-grandson; two brothers, Wesley Martin, Plano, Texas, and Sam Bittle, Lawton, Okla.; and four sisters, Judy Shamblin, Fort Worth, Texas, Linda Miller, Lawton, Okla., Rosemary Jones, Lawton, Okla., and Sherri Hamra, Lawton, Okla.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Wednesday at Minnis Chapel in Stafford.
Burial will be in the Stafford Cemetery.
Friends may call from 1 p.m. until 8 p.m., Tuesday at Minnis Chapel in Stafford.
Memorials may be sent to the Stafford District Hospital in care of the chapel.
EVELINE A. DAVIS
Eveline Davis, 48, died Thursday, Aug. 12, 2004, at Southwest Medical Center.
She was born Nov. 4, 1955, to Aaron and Brenda (Walker) Haught in Germany.
She married Patrick Pond.
She then married Robyn Davis Nov. 18, 1983, in Shattuck, Okla. He survives.
She earned her diploma from Woodward High School in Woodward, Okla.
She worked for National Beef Company.
She enjoyed knitting and being a good homemaker.
Other survivors include her stepmother, Lois Haught; three sons, Chris Pond, Woodward, Okla., Dean Pond and wife Teresa, Woodward, Okla., and Doug Pond and wife Becky, Turpin, Okla.; three grandsons, William, Aaron and Kannan Pond; and two granddaughters, Chelsee and Shelbi Pond.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services were at 1 p.m., today in the Garden Chapel of Johnson's Good Samaritan Funeral Service with the Rev. Jason Dirks presiding.
Burial will be in the Elmwood Cemetery.
