MONTEZUMA - Ella Dirks, 92, died Saturday, May 22, 2004, at the Bethel Home Inc., Montezuma.
She was born July, 9, 1911, to Cornelious H. and Effie (Schmidt) Unruh in Marion County.
She married Walter Dirks on Aug. 3, 1930, at Montezuma. He died Sept. 10, 1973.
She was a homemaker.
She moved to the Montezuma area when she was a child.
She was a member of the Church of God in Christ Mennonite, Montezuma.
She is survived by two sons, Dewayne Dirks and wife, Dorothy, Scott City and Kenneth Dirks and wife, Mary Alice, Montezuma; five daughters, Norma Jantz and husband Ivan, Montezuma, Doris Harms and husband, Don, Montezuma, Thelma Schafer and husband, DeWayne, Dalhart, Texas, Irene Holdeman and husband, Linford, Halstead and Jeanette Koehn and husband Eldon, Montezuma; 26 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Willie Unruh and wife Evelyn, Wichita; one sister, Della Schmidt, Montezuma; one brother-in-law, Ervin Jantz, Montezuma; and many relatives and friends.
She is also preceded in death by her parents; one daughter-in-law, Delilah Dirks; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Sam and Elmer Unruh; seven sisters, Frances Unruh, Ida Giesbrecht, Susie Unruh, Mary Koehn, Julia Redger, Carrie Dirks and Leah Jantz.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Church of God in Christ Mennonite, Montezuma, with Ministers Donald Koehn, Harold Koehn and Galen Harms presiding.
Burial will be at the North Mennonite Church Cemetery, Montezuma.
Friends may call Sunday from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Montezuma Funeral Home.

SUSANNE BROWN
ULYSSES -- Susanne Brown, 64, died Saturday, May 22, 2004, at Via Christie Regional Medical Center in Wichita.
She was born September 3, 1939, to J.W. and Grace Saylor. in Hutchinson.
She married Jerry Brown January 3, 1958, in Hutchinson. He survives.
She attended Hutchinson High School and graduated in 1957.
She was a homemaker and resident of Ulysses since 1966. She was a co-owner of Brown-Dupree OIl Co. of Ulysses.
She was a member of the First Methodist Church and United Methodist Women. She was past president of UMW and chairwoman of the United Methodist Women's Bazaar as well as serving on numerous other church committees. She was also a member of the Florence Circle. She was Past President and Charter Member of the chapter HV PEO for 45 years. She was a past member of the Home Products Dinner Committee, past president of Junior Civic Study Club as well as serving on the Bob Wilson Memorial Hospital Board and the Grant County Library Board. She also enjoyed being in the Book Club, doing volunteer work, walking, playing Bridge, and following sports activities. She was a lifetime member of the University of Kansas Hill Society.
Other survivors include her father, J.W. (Bill) Saylor, Hutchinson; one son, Kent Brown and wife, Lorna, Syracuse; two daughters, Kim Irvin and husband, Dave, Pam Annis and husband, Jay, Ulysses; seven grandchildren, Brett Annis, Ashley Irvin, Cody Irvin, Chris Brown, William Brown, Jared Irvin, and Andrew Brown; three brothers, Richard Saylor and wife, Lynn, Boca Raton, Fla.; Steve Saylor and wife, Jan, Scott Saylor and wife Lisa, all of Hutchinson; father-in-law, Gerald Brown, Hutchinson.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Grace Saylor and Mother-in-law Agnes Brown.
Funeral service will be at 2p.m, Tuesday at the First Methodist Church in Ulysses, with Reverend Dennis H. Livingston presiding.
Burial will follow at the Ulysses Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2p.m. until 8 p.m. Today at the Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses.
Memorials are suggested to be given to the First United Methodist Church in Ulysses.
DIANE MELIN DALE
SUBLETTE - Diane Melin Dale, 44, died Sunday, May 23, 2004, in a one vehicle accident south of Sublette.
She was born Jan. 15, 1960, to Frank and Julie (Munroe) Chin in El Dorado.
She married Terry Allen Dale March 29, 1980, in Wichita. He survives.
She was a waitress at Cattleman's Cafe in Sublette. She was a member of the Harley-Davidson, Liberal Chapter.
She is also survived by her parents; two daughters, Nalin Dale, Garden City and Tylin Dale, Dodge City; one brother, Mark Chin, Attica, Miss.; one sister, Lailin Chin, El Dorado; and many relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday at the Christian Church, Sublette, with the Minister David Erwin presiding.
Burial will be at the Haskell County Cemetery, Sublette.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. on Tuesday at the Haskell County Funeral Home.

MARVIN S. BRADFIELD
HUGOTON - Marvin S. Bradfield, 74, died Sunday, May 23, 2004, at the Southwest Medical Center in Liberal.
He was born Nov. 22, 1928, to O. W. and Buena Vista (Thompson) Bradfield in Texas County, Okla.
He married Jean L. Yoakum on June 10, 1951, in Sterling. She survives.
He was a retired farmer and served his country in the Korean War.
He was a member of the First Christian Church and was a deacon for many years.
He was a member of the American Legion, helped with the Cub Scouts, coached the Little League baseball Kiwanis and owned and operated the Shafer House Motel for 18 years.
He enjoyed going to his grandsons activities. His hobbies were cooking, hunting, fishing and playing pitch.
He is also survived by one son, Shelby Bradfield and wife, Maggy, Santa Fe, N.M.; one daughter, Janet White and husband, Edward, Moscow; three grandsons, Brad White and wife, Melyssa, Craig White and wife, Velvet and Doug White and wife, December; five great-grandchildren, Hailey White, Conner White, Talley White, Ethan White and Brayden White; one sister, Jeannette Fields, Taloga, Okla.; and many other relatives and friends.
Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Hugoton Cemetery
with the Pastor Larry Bradford presiding.
Friends may call Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. at Paul's Funeral Home, Hugoton.

ARDEN R. NEFF
GUYMON Arden Richard Neff, 92, died Sunday, May 23, 2004, in Ponca City, Okla.
He was born Nov. 23, 1911, to Carl Pearson and Mary Ellen (Wadley) Neff in Tyrone, Okla.
He married Rena Elizabeth Ralstin on July 12, 1935, in Guymon Okla. She died on Jan. 26, 1990.
He attended Tyrone High School and graduated in 1930.
He worked in farming and construction.
He is survived by one son-in-law, Harry Tate, Fairfax, Okla.; three granddaughters, Cheryl Hintergardt, Fairfax, Julie Gates, Broken Arrow, Okla. and Kristin Buchanan, Broken Arrow; his brothers-in-law, Orville Clemans, Guymon and Fred Cawlfield, Guymon; and his sister, Ruby Blair, Liberal.
He is also preceded in death by his parents; one son, Daryl Arden; two daughters, Glenda Louise and Carole Joy Tate; and one brother, Nolan Neff.
Graveside funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Barden Cemetery, northwest of Straight, with the Reverend Merilee Berry presiding.

PAULINE M. CRIDER
NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas Pauline May Crider, 89, died Tuesday, May 25, 2004, at McKenna Hospital in New Braunfels, Texas.
She was born May 24, 1915, to Ivan and Sadie (Withrow) Horner in Baca County, Colo.
She married Claude Beavers.
She then married Earl Crider. He preceded her in death.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of the First Church of God in Hugoton.
Survivors include one son, Doyle Beavers, Bowie, Texas; one daughter, Louise Smith and husband, Bobby, Canyon Lake, Texas; one son-in-law, Bob Oder, Hugoton; 10 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Clay Horner, Moscow Mills, Mo.; and one sister, Dorine Howe, Amarillo, Texas.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; one son, Kenneth Beavers; one daughter, Claudine Oder; one daughter-in-law, Jan Beavers; one brother, Dale Horner; and one sister, Lois Ausburn.
Funeral services will be on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the First Church of God, Hugoton with Pastor Bill Vincent presiding.
Burial will be in the Hugoton Cemetery, Hugoton.
Friends may call Friday from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. at Paul's Funeral Home, Hugoton.
MONA L. MATKIN
Mona Lea Matkin, 92, died Thursday, May 27, 2004, at Southwest Medical Center.
She was born Oct. 11, 1911, to Richard and Gladys Worley Gooch.
She married Fred Matkin, Sept. 3, 1937, in Garden City. He died Nov. 8, 1980.
She graduated from Liberal High School in 1929 and later attended Wichita Business College.
She was a secretary for Farmers and Bankers Insurance Company for several years.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
She was also a member of Circle No. 6, a founding member and president of the Aurora Club, a member and treasurer of PEO Chapter FA, a Girl Scout leader and a volunteer for many community projects.
Survivors include three daughters, Suzanne Rathbun and husband E.D., Odessa, Texas, Shari Buxton and husband Charles, Oklahoma City, Okla., and Sally Matkin, Aspen, Colo.; five grandchildren, Daniel Rathbun and wife Wendy, Midland, Texas, David Rathbun, Duluth, Minn., Douglas Rathbun and wife Michelle, Washington, D.C., Lisa Mathis and husband Will, Houston, Texas, Lainie Muller and husband Steve, Washington, D.C.; and six great-grandchildren, Alexander, Parker and Garrett Rathbun, John and Charles Muller and William Mathis.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, one brother and one sister.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Saturday at Miller Chapel.
Burial will be in the Liberal Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. until service time Saturday.
