ELMER C. METCALF
ULYSSES -- Elmer C. Metcalf, 77, Ulysses died Friday April 16, 2004, in Ulysses.
He was born Oct. 20, 1926, to William and Samantha (Swadley) Metcalf in Brown Branch, Mo.
He married Marie Dillard Oct. 2, 1944 in Garden City. She survives.
He moved to Ulysses in 1939, from Brown Branch, Mo.
He worked in the grain department for Co-op for 39 years.
He attended First Baptist Church in Ulysses.
He enjoyed gardening and flowers. He was an outdoorsman. He liked to fish and hunt.
Other survivors include four sons, Clinton Eugene Metcalf, Caldwell, Garry Ray Metcalf and wife, Jan, Ulysses, Robert Wayne Metcalf, Ulysses, Herbert William Metcalf and wife, Norma, Ulysses; one daughter, Diana Marie Talbert, Ulysses; five grandchildren, Kendall Metcalf, Miranda Pinkerton, Rebecca Talbert, Sophia Metcalf, Everett Metcalf, ; three great-grandchildren, John Pinkerton, Sean Pinkerton, Kristian Talbert and many relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by one grandson, Michael Todd Metcalf; one daughter-in-law, Patricia A. Metcalf;his parents, three brothers, Tom Metcalf, Paul Metcalf, Claybourn Metcalf; two sisters, Rocca Maggard, Arlene Webster.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church in Ulysses with Pastor Barry Durkee presiding. Burial will be at the Ulysses Cemetery
in Ulysses.
Friends may call until 5 p.m today.

ROBERT B. "BOB" WILLIAMS
CSM Robert B. "Bob" Williams, Ret., 73, died Sunday, April 18, . 2004 at his residence.
He was born Dec. 23, 1930, to Russell S. and Rosa J. Howell Williams.
He married Roberta L. Bryan Feb. 6, 1954. She survives.
He graduated from Liberal High School in 1949. He entered the Army National Guard of Kansas, serving forty-one years, retiring in 1990 as Command Sergeant Major. He also served in the Liberal Police Reserve for many years.
He was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene.
He was a member of the Liberal Men's Bowling League for 35 years. He enjoyed playing his guitar, fishing, hunting, working with wood and all sports.
He is also survived by two sons, Kenneth Williams, and wife, Kathy Broken Arrow, Okla., Jeff Williams and wife, Leisa, Forgan, Okla.; two daughters, Lorraine Schell and husband, Dale, Plains, Paula Schmidt and husband, Ted, Turpin, Okla.; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one brother, Jean Williams and wife, Ann, Perkins, Okla.; one sister, Lulu Hickey, Ellswroth.
He was preceded in death by one son; two grandsons; his parents; four brothers, and two sisters.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the First Church of Nazarene with the Pastor Jim Mather presiding.
Burial will be at the Liberal Cemetery
with military honors by the Fort Riley Honor Guard.
Friends may call the Miller Mortuary from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday and 8 a.m. until 11 a.m. Thursday.

JUAN C. TIJERINA
Juan C. Tijerina, Sr., 62, died Saturday, April 17, 2004, at his residence.
He was born on Nov. 20, 1941 in Asherton, Texas to Jose Tijerina and Teofila Casanova.
He married Maria Sifuentez on March 5, 1958 in Asherton, Texas; She died May 2, 2002.
He was raised and attended schools in Asherton, Texas.
He had been employed in the agriculture industry all his life, the last being Colville and Wilson for over 10 years. He was a member of La Iglesia de San Jose.
He is survived by; five sons, Juan Carlos Tijerina, Amarillo, Texas; Armando Tijerina, Liberal, David Tijerina, Lamesa, Texas; Adam Tijerina, Hereford, Texas; Juan Tijerina, Hereford, Texas; three daughters, Annabell Cabrera, Austin, Texas; Loretta Martinez, Hereford, Texas; Eva Zepeda of Hereford, Texas; 25 grandchildren; nine great -grandchildren;six brothers; Joe Tijerina, Nissen, Ore., Gilbert Tijerina, Amarillo, Texas, Julian Tijerina, Amarillo, Texas, Fred Tijerina, Hereford, Texas, Jessie Tijerina, Hereford, Texas, Mario Tijerina, Hereford, Texas, five sisters, Adelina Galvan of Hereford, Texas, Maria Elena Villarreal, Saginaw, Mich., Rosa Fitchett, Hereford, Texas, Grace Mendiola, Hereford, Texas, Beanida Garza , Hereford Texas.
He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Norma Lee Young in July 2001.
Funeral Mass was at 10 a.m. April 20, 2004, at La Iglesia de San Jose in Hereford, Texas with Monsignor Arturo Meza, presiding.
Private family burial was at St. Anthony's Catholic Cemetery.
Prayer Vigils were at 7 p.m. on Sunday, April 18 and Monday, April 19 at Rix Funeral Chapel.
JEANAMARIE SCHUSTER
WICHITA -- Jeanamarie Schuster, 47, died Wednesday, April 21, 2004.
She was a retired state employee of the KS SRS. She was also a homemaker.
She is survived by her husband, Dave; father, Gene DuBois, Satanta; grandmother, Thelma DuBois, Great Bend; brother, Craig Dubois and wife, Beverly Wichita; step-brother Rick Dubois and wife, Missy, Wahpeton, N.D.; step-sisters, Paula Sos and husband, Rob, Hugoton, Jeannetta Adamson and husband, Ray, Pampa, Texas; aunt and uncle, Lonnie and Carmetta Lollar, Derby; and many other aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Dolores Parmele.
HAROLD D. CULLERS
Johnson -- Harold D. Cullers, 80, died Thursday, April 22, 2004, at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City.
He was born Nov. 18, 1923, to Harry Leslie and Anna (Roark) Cullers in Plains.
He married Ethel E. Christian May 11, 1952, in Johnson. She survives.
He has been a resident of Johnson since 1928. He was a farmer and rancher. He also did radio and TV repair in the area for years.
He was a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge, and a lifetime member of the NRA.
He was a member of First Baptist Church, a church he helped build.
Other survivors include one son, Stephen D. Cullers, Dalhart, Texas; one daughter, Sarah J. Horner, Okeene, Okla.; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by five sisters; two infant sisters; and Elsie VanWort, Ethel Button and Iris Cullers.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church in Johnson with the Revs. Bob Warner and Steve Kinsey presiding.
Burial will be at Stanton County Cemetery
in Johnson.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today at Garnand Funeral Home in Johnson.

BETTY JO MCGUIRE
Betty Jo McGuire, 75, died Monday, April 26, 2004, at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal.
She was born Sept. 25, 1928, to William W. and Golda Lenning Doyle in Guymon, Okla.
She married R.E. Griffith in 1953 in Clayton N.M. She then married Vestel McGuire in 1975, in Liberal.
She attended school in Guymon, Okla. and later beauty college in Amarillo, Texas. She came to Liberal in 1959. She was a beautician for many years retiring in 1979. She was a caretaker for "Buddy" Long for many years.
She was a member of Trinity Faith Church in Liberal.
She is survived by one son, Jerry Griffith and wife, Shirley, Liberal; one grandson, Bryan Griffith, Liberal; one brother, R.C. Doyle, and wife, Jean, Phoenix, Ariz.;
She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Trinity Faith Church with the Reverend Dee Estes presiding.
Burial will be at Liberal Cemetery.
Friends may call the Miller Mortuary from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday.

HOWARD ALBERT REISCHMAN
Howard Albert Reischman, 90, died Friday, April 23, 2004.
He was born to Albert and Grace Reischman.
He was married to his wife, Opal for 57 years.
He helped his father in the bakery as a child. He mowed the grass at Highland Cemetery. He worked for Swift Poultry and Creamery, Coleman Lamp and Stove. Co. retiring in April 1978, after 35 years.
He is survived by his wife Opal; one son, Larry, Valley Center, Calif.; two daughters, Linda Martin, Liberal, Judy Sage, Anchorage, Alaska; and nine grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Norbert; and one sister, Barbara Brown.
Services were at Central Church of Christ.
Visitation was Monday at Lakeview Funeral Home.
Memorials are suggested to Total Home Care and Hospice and Central Church of Christ Youth Ministry.
