C.L. (BUD) HELWIG
ULYSSES -- C.L. (Bud) Helwig, 86, died Tuesday, March 30, 2004, in Grant County.
He was born April 24, 1917, to William P. and Ardna (Hardie) Helwig in Macksville.
He married Thelma B. Mangles Nov. 7, 1942, in Macksville. She survives.
He was a resident of Ulysses since 1946. He was a farmer and a rancher.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was stationed in Italy as a Fireman and Mechanic.
He was a lifetime member of the American Legion, and was past Commander of the Charles B. Hart American Legion No. 79 in Ulysses. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and horses.
Other survivors include two sons, Darrel D. Mangles, Ulysses, Carl Mangles, Johnson; one daughter, Judy Cornell, Ulysses; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Irene Preston, Great Bend.
He was preceded in death by one brother Philip Helwig.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Shelton Memorial Christian Church in Ulysses with the Reverend Bill Harrold presiding.
Burial will follow at the Ulysses Cemetery.
Military graveside rites will be given by the Charles B. Hart American Legion Post No. 79 in Ulysses.
Friends may call the Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday.

CORDELIA ANNA ADAMS
ULYSSES -- Cordelia "Anna" Adams, 95, died Wednesday, March 31, 2004, at Western Prairie Care Home in Ulysses.
She was born April 1, 1908, to John Riley and Mandy Louiza Crisp in Mount Grove, Mo.
She married William Harrison "Doc" Adams, February 17, 1934, in Old Mexico. He died in November, 1976.
She was a longtime resident of Ulysses. She owned and operated Doc's Motel.
She was an avid supporter of the Grant County Senior Center and enjoyed spending time with her friends their.
She is survived by many nieces, nephews, her adopted family and the Grant County Senior Center.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses with the Reverend Bill Harrold presiding.
Burial will be at the Ulysses Cemetery
in Ulysses.

IGNACIO GARCIA RIVERA
Ignacio Garcia Rivera, 26, died Wednesday, March 31, 2004, at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal.
He was born March 13, 1978, at Delicias Chihuahua, Mexico to Aldoldo and Maria Rivera.
He had been a Liberal resident since 1990.
He was a member of Saint Anthony Catholic Church in Liberal.
He is survived by his mother, Maria Jesus de Rivera, Liberal;two daughters, Karen Celyn Rivera, Liberal and Karime Yaneth Rivera, Liberal; one brother; three sisters; and companion, Claudia Garcia.
Vigil services were at 7 p.m. Saturday at Saint Anthony Catholic Church First and Prospect with Father Mike McAndrew presiding.
Mass will be at 11 a.m. today at Saint Anthony Catholic Church with Father Patrick Keyes presiding.
Burial will be at the Liberal Cemetery.
Friends may call the Saint Anthony Catholic Church until service time today.

JESSIE L. BANE
HUGOTON -- Jessie L. Bane, 68, died Thursday, April 1, 2004, at her residence in Hugoton.
She was born October 6, 1935, to Forrest and Dorothy G. (Anderson) Thompson in Hugoton.
She married Ralph R. Bane, Jr. July 15, 1955, in Hugoton. He survives.
She was a lifelong resident of Hugoton and attended Hugoton Schools. After graduating from high school, she attended Colorado College in Colorado Springs.
She worked as a legal secretary for more than 25 years. She later worked as a secretary in the Hugoton School System. She enjoyed crafts, Indian artifacts and playing bridge.
Other survivors include two daughters, Kimberly D. Bane, Houston, Texas, Kristi S. Bane Baker, Emporia; three grandchildren, Tanner E. Wise, Ian Z. Baker, Tristyn D. Baker;her mother, Dorothy Thompson, Hugoton; two brothers, Grant E. Thompson, Hugoton, Jim L. Thompson, Atlanta, Ga.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Kelli D. Bane Wise; and her father.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the First Church of God in Hugoton with the Pastors Bill Vincent and Rusty Callahan presiding.
Burial will be at the Hugoton Cemetery.
Friends may call the Garnand Funeral Home in Hugoton from 1 p.m. until 8 p.m. today.

MARGARET LORENA CLARK
HUGOTON -- Margaret Lorena Clark, 94, died Friday morning, April 2, 2004, at Stevens County Hospital in Hugoton.
She was born April 25, 1909, to Robert Andrew and Grace Catherine (Kearns) Pitts in Gate, Okla.
She married William Lewis Clark in 1933. He died May 27, 1985.
She moved to Hugoton from Clifty, Arkansas in 1928.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of the V.F. W. Auxiliary, she was a Gold Star Mother in Hugoton.
She is survived by four sons, Elvas Clark, Hugoton, Jerald Clark and wife, Permelia, Hugoton, Larry Clark and wife, Catherine, Hugoton, Jerry Clark and wife, Vicki, Dewey, Okla.; one daughter, Vivian Beavers and husband, Lewis James, Sunray, Texas, ; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and many relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband; one daughter; one son, Ronnie Clark; two stepsons, Jack and Bill Clark; her parents; four brothers; and two sisters.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Paul's Funeral Home in Hugoton with the Minister Larry Bradford presiding. Burial will be at the Hugoton Cemetery
in Hugoton.

RUBY FLORINE SNOW
HUGOTON -- Ruby Florine Snow, 96, Hugoton, died Friday morning, April 2, 2004, at Morton County Care Center in Elkhart.
She was born July 27, 1907, to Robert Charles and Lillie Myrtle (Greenwood) Ertz in Pratt.
She married Charlie Wilson April, 1924. He died. Then, she married Clarence Snow in July, 1970. He died.
She was a homemaker.
She enjoyed being outdoors.
She is survived by one brother, Harry Ertz; Grangeville, Idaho; one sister, Almeta Thompson, Hugoton; and many nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Victor, John, Marvin and Virgil Ertz; four sisters, Thelma Steadman, Alice Peterson, Jessie Herminghouse and Rosie Smith.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Monte Vista Cemetery
in Monte Vista, Colo.
Memorials are suggested to the Morton County Center in Elkhart in care of Paul's Funeral Home, P.O. Box 236, Hugoton, KS 67951.
