LAKIN -- Jewel V. Bullock, 89, died Oct. 27, 2003, at Westy Community Care in Westmoreland.
Funeral services are pending and will be announced by Haskell County Funeral Home in Sublette.
EARL "GRINNY" LEWIS
Earl "Grinny" Lews, 93, died Sunday, October 26, 2003, at Liberal Good Samaritan Center.
He was born Feb. 11, 1910, in Mullinville to Harrison Elmer and Elizabeth (Cope) Lewis.
He married Ruby Pearl Fellers, July 23, 1931, in Kismet. She survives.
He was a farmer. He worked for Panhandle Eastern at the compressor station as an oiler and engineer. He worked for Seward County Road Dept. He and his wife operated Liberal Motel. They also owned and operated Lewis Apartments.
He is a member of the St. Paul United Methodist Church in Liberal.
Other survivors include one son, Wendell Lewis and wife, Juanita, Kennewick, Wash.; two daughters, Marilyn Thompson, and husband, Harvey, Liberal, Carolee Lewis, Liberal, one sister, Myrtle Lindsay, LaMar, Colo.; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Everett Lewis; three brothers, Harry, Ernest, and Edgar Lewis; three sisters, Murrel Wessler, Julia Smith, and Pearl Lewis.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Wednesday at St. Paul United Methodist Church with the Reverend Jerry Odle presiding.
Burial will be at Restlawn Cemetery.
Visitation will be at 9 a.m. until 9 p.m., Tuesday with the family present to greet friends from 6:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday.

ROBIN KING
Robin King, 57, died Thursday, October 23, 2003, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.
She was born Nov. 15, 1945, to Robert E. and Myrtle Maurine (Smith) Reneau in Oklahoma City, Okla.
She married Harry L. King, July 28, 1968 in Liberal. He survives.
She graduated from Liberal High School in 1964. She attended Northwestern Oklahoma University for two years and then received her Associates Degree in Secreterial Science from Seward County Community College.
She was the Executive Director of Nuts and Bolts Inc. and a former long time employee of JC Penney.
She was a member of First Southern Baptist Church, Adult 7 Sunday school class, Order of the Eastern Star Liberal Chapter No. 104, and Delta Zeta sorority.
Her hobbies included scrapbooking, reading, and music. She loved animals.
Other survivors include her father, Robert E. Reneau, Alva, Okla; one son, Jeff King and wife, Amie, Lordsburg, N.M.; one daughter, Julianne King, Dodge City; one brother, Jim Reneau, Dodge City; two grandchildren, Rylee and Seth.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Myrtle Maurine Reneau.
Memorial services were at 1 p.m. today at the First Southern Baptist Church in Liberal with the Reverand Keith Bryant presiding.
A private burial took place at Liberal Cemetery
in Liberal.

IDA I. MOTZNER
RUSSELL -- Ida I. Motzner, 94, died Oct. 24, 2003, at Wheatland Nursing Center in Russell.
She was born June 12, 1909, to Theodore and Mary (Urbanek) Krause on a farm near Bunker Hill.
She married William Albert "Bill" Motzner June 14, 1936. He died Oct. 18, 1996.
She was a homemaker and mother after marriage. She enjoyed her life and took great pride in her home, family, friends, church and flower gardens.
She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Russell for over 50 years and was a member of the Elizabeth Circle at the church.
Survivors include one son, Bill Motzner and wife, Linda, Lexington, Neb.; one daughter, Mary Grumbein and her husband, Albert, Denton, Texas; four grandchildren, Lori McGinnis, Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; Lisa Grumbien, Lewisville, Texas, Heather Hagan, Liberal and Kristan Motzner, Lincoln, Neb.; three great-grandchildren, Matthew and Joshua McGinnis and Jordan Hagan.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Walter and Fred Krause; and one sister, Dora Bauer.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday at St. John Lutheran Church in Russell with the Reverend Henry J. Hartman presiding.
Burial will follow at St. John Lutheran Cemetery.
Visitation will be from noon to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Pohlman-Heise Mortuary in Russell.

MILDRED L. DEMMITT
MEADE -- Mildred L. Demmitt, 93, died Oct. 27, 2003, at the Hill Top House in Bucklin.
She was born Sept. 6, 1910, to Harve Levi and Lena Bragg Williams in Medicine Lodge.
She married Quinby G. Demmitt, Aug. 31, 1931, in Garden City. He died Feb. 5, 1992.
She graduated from Ashland High School.
She was a homemaker.
She was a lifetime member of the Order of the Eastern Star of Plains.
Survivors include one son, Thomas E. "Tom" Demmitt, Plains; three daughters, Shirley Golden, Overland Park, Faye Hartshorn, Meade, Elaine Mead, Plains; one sister, Arloine Wentworth, Swink, Colo.;12 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, Lee Williams, George Williams, Charles Williams and Arlo Williams and one sister, Gladys Bird.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Wednesday at Fidler-Orme Mortuary Chapel in Meade with the Reverand Susan Greene presidng.
Burial will be at the Graceland Cemetery
in Meade.
Friends may sign the guest register at the funeral home.

JEWEL V. BULLOCK
LAKIN -- Jewel V. Bullock, 89, died Oct. 27, 2003, at Westy Community Care Home in Westmoreland.
She was born April 17, 1914, to Willard and Annie (Smith) Nichols in Crittendon, Mo.
She married Frank Craig in Kansas City, Mo. He preceded her in death. She then married Walter Bullock in Garden City. He also preceded her in death
She was a store clerk for C.R. Anthonys in Garden City for many years. She move from Garden City to Tulsa, Okla. in 1995, to be near her daughter then moved to Westmoreland, where she resided.
She attended the Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Frankie Kay Davis and husband, Richard, Tulsa, Okla., and Sondra (Eves) Crump and husband, Dick, Topeka; one brother, Shelby Nichols, Chillcothe, Mo.; two sisters, Olive Cunningham, Springfield, Mo.; six granchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Aubrey Nichols, one sister, Edrie Palmer; and one great-granddaughter, Anna Riphahn.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Lakin Cemetery
in Lakin with Dick Crump presiding.
Friends may call until 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

FLORA "SAMMY" UPSHAW
KANSAS CITY -- Flora "Sammy" Upshaw, 72, died Oct. 26, 2003.
She was born Oct. 31, 1931, to Samuel and Dorothy Bolton McDowell.
She worked as a dispatcher in Liberl for Scat Two-Way Communications for 22 years.
Survivors include five sons, Donald Turner, Terry Wayne Bunkers, Danny Bill Harvey, Billy Ray Upshaw, Fred Upshaw; two daughters, Letti Sue Harvey Beatty and Carolyn Upshaw Carr; one brother, Danny McDowell; three step-brothers, Gerald Butters, RonaldButters, and Robert Butters; and one sister, Janet Bohanon; eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Lloyd Bunkers and Steve Bunkers; one daughter, Margaret Upshaw Cordray and one sister, Wilma Sikorski.
Memorial services will be at 5 p.m., Wednesday at Maple Hill Funeral Home.
A private burial will be Thursday.
