Claudine Mae Oder, 70, Hugoton, died Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2003 at Morton County Hospital in Elkhart.
She was born to Claude and Pauline (Horner) Beavers, May 12, 1933, in Hugoton.
She married Bob Oder May 27, 1950, in Liberal. He survives.
She was a lifetime resident of Hugoton. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the First Church of God in Hugoton. She was a member of Pollyanna's, V.F.W. Auxilliary and Bridge Club in Hugoton.
Other survivors include, two sons; Fred Oder and wife, Patricia, Canyon, Texas, Tom Oder and wife, Leslie, Hugoton; three daughters, Carrie Williams and husband, Jay, Elkhart, Sandy Schmidt, Hugoton, Linda Kates and husband, Rick, Dodge City; mother; Pauline Crider, Hugoton, mother-in-law; Margret Pearce, Hugoton, one brother; Doyle Beavers, and wife, Jan, Bowie, Texas; one sister, Lousie Smith and husband, Bobby, Canyon Lake, Texas, 15 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and many relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Friday at First Church of God in Hugoton, with the Pastor Bill Vincent presiding.
Burial will be at the Hugoton Cemetery
in Hugoton.

KAINOA WESLEE SCHNELLE
MEADE -- Kainoa Weslee Schnelle died Sept. 30, 2003 at Saint Catherine Hospital in Garden City.
He was born to Wes and Cherie Schnelle in Meade.
Survivors include his parents, paternal grandparents; Denis and Janice Schnelle, Meade,; maternal grandparents; Chet and Linda Mendenhall, Coldwater, two aunts; Ara Schnelle, Springfield, Mo.,Fae Cottrell and husband, Travis, Derby, ; four uncles, Jay Schnelle and wife, Heather, Idaho Falls, Idaho, Keola Mendenhall, Kansas City, Keoni Mendenhall, Coldwater, and Kekoa Mendenhall, Coldwater.
Private family services will be at a later date. Fidler-Orme Mortuary in Meade is in charge of arrangements.
MARIAN FIGGINS
Marian Figgins, 89, died Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2003, at Bob Wilson Memorial Hospital in Ulysses.
She was born Nov. 11, 1913, to Joseph and Daisy (McClain) Custer in Colorado Springs, Colo.
She married Ennis Frank Figgins in 1932 in Colorado Springs, Colo. He died May 1, 1966.
She then married Russell Jay Figgins Dec 28, 1993, in Manter. He died July 26, 1999.
She was a resident of Stanton County since 1994. She was a homemaker and a farm wife.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church and the Progressive Club both in Johnson.
Her hobbies included traveling, boating, fishing, playing dominoes and spending time with her family.
Survivors include five sons, Orville Figgins and wife, Faye, Johnson, Robert Figgins and wife, Mary Lou, Manter, Richard and wife, Diane, Walsh, Colo., Jay Figgins and wife, Judy, Ulysses, and Russell Figgins and wife, Jackie, Pueblo, Colo.; one daughter, Barbara Smith, Fort Ville, Indiana; two sisters, Geraldine Walkemeyer, Ulysses, and Glenyce Maupin, Homedale, Idaho, 16 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by one brother, Doran Custer, two sisters, Lucille Brown and Pauline Fustin; and one granddaughter, Tammi Figgins.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Saturday at Fields Memorial Wesleyan Church in Johnson with the Reverend Dave Kaufmann presiding.
Burial will follow at the Stanton County Cemetery
in Johnson.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. at Garnand Funeral Home in Johnson.

LUCILE SEAWRIGHT
Lucile Seawright, 82, died Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2003, at Liberal Good Samaritan Center in Liberal.
She was born to William T. and Bertha (Morehouse) Capps.
She married Raymond Seawright Dec. 14, 1940, in Hooker, Okla. He died Nov. 22, 1996.
She graduated in 1939 from Baker High School in Baker, Okla. She had been a longtime resident of Independence before moving to Liberal in 1997. She owned and operated the Independence Cafe and was an Avon representative.
She was a member of the Eastern Star and the VFW Aux, both of Independence.
Survivors include nephew and niece, Bill and wife, Fonda, Tyrone, Okla.; great nieces and nephews, Tony White and wife, Debbie, Tom White and wife, Rhonda and Bill White and Janelle Gardner; great-nieces and nephews, Samantha, Justin, Lyndsey, Colter and Brandon White, Tiffany Gardner and many other nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, George (Jack) Capps, Charles Capps and one sister, Mildred Starr.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Restlawn Cemetery
with the Reverend Rick Trobaugh presiding.

DAISY MASSIE SCOTT
HUGOTON -- Daisy Massie Scott, 90, died Saturday, Oct. 4, 2003, at Pioneer Manor in Hugoton.
She was born July 8, 1913, to Joe H. and Alice (Sample) Massie in Minneapolis.
She married Marshall Scott Aug. 28, 1938, in Stevens County. He died May 4, 1969.
She was a homemaker and worked at Norge Village Laundry, Daylight Doughnut and the senior center.
She attended Bethel Friends Church in Hugoton, was a 4-H leader, member of the Progressive Grange and the Antelope Valley Club.
Survivors include four sons, Edward Scott and wife, Rochelle, Winfield, Fred Scott and wife, Joan, Wilson, Don Scott and wife, Shirley, Liberal, and Tom Scott and wife, Vernon, Texas; one duaghter, Erma Heger and husband, Marlin, Hugoton; 14 grandchildren, Keri Simmons, Shawna Smith, Kassie Scott, Kim Fox, Kelly Scott, Alan Scott, Brett Scott, Kenneth Scott, Micheal Scott, Martha Scott, Chelle Leininger, Darin Heger, Kirk Heger and Angela Heger; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Bethel Friends Church in Hugoton with the Reverend Terry Worthington presiding.
Burial will be at Restlawn Cemetery
in Liberal.

OPAL C. BOYD
FOWLER -- Opal C. Boyd,96, died Friday, October 3,2003 at Merridian Nursing Home in Wichita.
She was born March 22, 1907 to Joe Henry and Tina Alta Toomay Leakey.
She married Kenneth O. Boyd, February 20,1926 in Dodge City. He died Aug. 15, 1961.
She moved to Fowler in 1925 to teach school. She was a homemaker.
She was a member of the First Christian Church of Fowler.
Survivors include two sons, Dr. Kenneth Loyle Boyd, Akron, Iowa, Lyle Dwayne Boyd, Oakley; one daughter, Phyllis Elrod, Wichita; 13grandchildren,five step-grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, three step great-grandchildren one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by one daughter; VaLyta Lauppe and one brother, Clio Leaky.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday at First Christian Church in Fowler with the Pastor Ranulfo Garza presiding.
Burial will be at the Fowler Cemetery
in Fowler.

SHIRLEY E. TARBET
ULYSSES -- Shirley E. Tarbet, 80, died Thursday, October 2, 2003 at Bob Wilson Memorial Hospital in Ulysses.
She was born August 9, 1923 in Goodland to Clyde Erwin and Eva Francis (Gray) Brinker.
She married Orville E. Tarbet, May 6, 1961 in Burlington, Colo. He died November 19, 1998.
She graduated from Sherman Community High School in 1941.
She worked for Farm Bureau Insurance and Penney's in Goodland. She was a homemaker.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Goodland. She attended the Shelton Memorial Christian Church in Ulysses.
Survivors include three sons; John W. Wickar, Ulysses, Mark T. Wickwar, Ulysses, and David R. Tarbet, Ulysses; two daughters, Sonya Jo Williams, Pratt and Susan J. Smith,Pratt; two sisters, Geraldine (Dutch) Scott, Lawrence, Phyllis Martin, Goodland; 12 grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Juanita Newton and two grandchildren; Danny Williams and Braiden Smith.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Monday at Shelton Memorial Christian Church in Ulysses with the Reverend Bill Harrold presiding.
Burial will be at Ulysses Cemetery
in Ulysses.

SANTANTA -- Rhonda Irene Pickett, 93, died Friday, October 3, 2003 at Santata Long Term Care Unit in Satanta.
She was born September 12, 1910 in Stanford, Ark. to Bob and Mollie (Cupp) Smith.
She married Arthur Pickett Nov. 1, 1930 in Stanford, Ark. He died Nov. 28, 1995.
She was a lifetime resident of the Walcott, Stanford, Ark. area.
She worked as lunch room cook at the school cafeteria in Walcott and Green County Teck, Ark.
She was a member of Walcott Baptist Church in Walcott, Ark.
Survivors include two daughters, Mary Ellen Tweed and husband, Pastor Ray Tweed, Santata, Harriet Williams, and husband, Elwyn, Paragould, Ark.; one brother, Bob Smith and wife, Gussie, Fayetteville, Ark., one sister, Lurvine Herbert, Houston, Texas; four grandchildren, Doug Williams, Victor Tweed, Terri Rupp, and Karen Grambling; eight great-grandchildren and a many relatives and friends.
She was also preceded in death by her parents,husband and one sister; Pauline Boozer.
Funeral services will be held at Walcott Baptist Church in Walcott, Ark.
Burial will be at Mt. Zion Cemetery
in Walcott, Ark.
