SUSANA WHATLEY
Susana Whatley, 80, died Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2003, at St. Francis Hospital in Wichita.
She was born May 24, 1923, to Placido and Paula (Holguin) Vargas in La Cieniga, Durango, Mexico.
She attended school in Mexico and came to Liberal in 1973. She worked at the Liberal Country Club, Liberal Inn and Hong Kong Restaurant. She retired in 1988.
She was a member of the St. Anthony Catholic Church, Action Guadalupana Association and Grupo Cursillista, all of Liberal.
She is survived by five sons, Alfredo Vargas, Armando Vargas-Soto and Apolinar Vargas-Soto, all of Mexico; Arnold Vigil, LaJunta, Colo. and Joe Vega, Wichita; five daughters, Celia Villa and Maria "Suki" Vega, both of Liberal; Esperanza Vargas-Soto, Hortencia Vargas-Soto and Elva Soto all of Mexico; three brothers, Roberto Vargas, Aniceto Vargas and Vicente Vargas all of Mexico; two sisters, BasilisaVargas Rocha and Laurencia Anguiano, both of Mexico; thirty-seven grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, two brothers, three sisters and one grandson.
Vigil service will be at 7 p.m. tonight at the St. Anthony Catholic Churh in Liberal.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the St. Anthony Catholic Church in Liberal with the Father Patrick Keyes presiding.
Burial will be at Liberal Cemetery.
Friends may call at the St. Anthony Catholic Church until 8 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. until Mass, Friday.
Miller Mortuary in Liberal is in charge of arrangements.
CHESTER A. HENRY
Chester A. Henry, 75, died Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2003, at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal.
He was born July 18, 1928, to Donald L. and Bertha L. Holmes Henry in Ransom.
He attended school in Ness City. He farmed and later served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a truck driver for Interstate Motor Frieght in Detroit, Mich. for 15 years. He also worked as a transmission mechanic at Chuck's Transmission in Mason, Mich. before moving to Liberal in Nov. 2000.
He was a member of the Catholic Church, life member of the VFW and DAV in Detroit, Mich.
He is survived by one son, Alan Henry, Warren, Mich.; one daughter, Debra Lee Jansen and husband, Richard, Leslie, Mich.; one sister, Alice Culver, Wichita and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and three sisters.
There are no memorial services planned.
Burial will be at the Ness City Cemetery
in Ness City at a later date.

MARY W. STOLL
KISMET ญญ Mary W. Stoll, 52, died Thursday, Aug. 14, 2003, at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal.
She was born Jan. 21, 1951, to J.B. and Lauren Pearl (Martin) Webb in Phoenix, Ariz.
She married Bruce Stoll on Nov. 22, 1998, in Kismet. He survives.
She graduated from Mayfield High School in Las Cruces, N.M., and attended the Las Cruces Beauty School. She was a resident of Kismet since July 1994, moving from Colorado Springs, Colo. She was a paraprofessional for the Kismet and Plains Schools.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Kismet.
Other survivors include her father; two sons, Preston Stoll, Colwich, and Derek Stoll, Wichita; two daughters, Marsha Tolliver Warren, Guymon, Okla., and Sarah Stoll, Kismet; two brothers, Roger Grace, Indio, Calif., and Benny Webb, St. George, Utah.; one sister, Brenda Scloekoph of La Quinta, Calif.; and five grandchildren, Billy Roach, Lindsay Warren, Zachary Roach, Brison Warren and Victoria Stoll.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the United Methodist Church in Kismet with the Reverend Terry Mayhew presiding.
Burial will be at Kismet Cemetery
in Kismet.
Fidler-Orme Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

LOIS L. STOLL
HAYS ญญ Lois L. Stoll, 81, died Wednesday August 20, 2003, at Hays Medical Center in Hays.
She was born March 21, 1925, to Cecil Wells Stinemetz and Cora Stinemetz in Garden City.
She married Lavern E. Stoll on Nov. 20, 1942 in Kismet. He preceded her in death.
She was a homemaker and lived in Logan County for more than 60 years.
She was a member of Country Chapel in Oakley.
Survivors include one son, David Stoll, Oakley; three daughters, Sylvia Stoll, Georgetown, Texas, Linda Ebert, Byers, Colo. and Shirley Swihart, St. Francis; one brother, Elmer Stinemetz, Hanston and one sister, Barbara Steiner, South Sioux City, Neb.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and one grandson, Jonathan Swihart.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Oakley Christian Church in Oakley with the Pastor Gordon Bakon presiding.
Burial will be at Oakley Cemetery
in Oakley.
Friends may visit from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Country Chapel south of Oakley and from 9 a.m. until service time at the Oakley Christian Church in Oakley.

OTEHKA C. WISE
ULYSSES -- Otehka C. Wise, 82, Ulysses, died Sunday, Aug. 10, 2003, at Western Prairie Care Home in Ulysses.
Funeral arrangements are pending and will be announced by Grant County Funeral Home in Ulysses.
DOYLE EDGAR RORABAUGH
Doyle Edgar Rorabaugh, 81, died Thursday, Aug. 14, 2003, at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal.
He was born Nov. 17, 1921, to Lewis E. and Lola (Bull) Rorabaugh in Gray, Okla.
He married Josephine Rademaker Dec. 2, 1945, in Emden, Ill. She survives.
He graduated from Perryton High School in Perrryton, Texas in 1939, and attended John Brown University in Siloam Springs, Ark.
He farmed and ranched in the Balko Community for 50 years before moving to Liberal in 1995.
He was an avid collector of old coins and antique pocket watches.
He was a past president of the Balko PTA, Balko School Board and Bethlehem Lutheran Church. He was a charter member of the Oklahoma Charolais Association.
He was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Perryton, Texas and Grace Lutheran Church in Liberal.
Other survivors include two sons, Teryl Rorabaugh and wife, Donna, Liberal, and Rex Rorabaugh and wife, Opal Lea, Oklahoma City, Okla.; two daughters, Rita Knop and husband, Kent, Guymon, Okla., and Rene Wester and husband, Richard, Liberal; one sister, Maxine Beck, Perryton, Texas; 10 grandchildren, Teri Harp, Brett Rorabaugh, Chad Knop, Kurt Knop, Kara Knop, Kritin Rorabaugh, David Rorabaugh, Zachary Wester, Luke Wester and Jacob Wester and two great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents and infant son Doyle Lynn.
Funeral service will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Liberal with the Reverend Andrew Wheling presiding.
Burial will be at 5 p.m. Saturday at Ochiltree County Cemetery
in Perryton, Texas.
Calling time is until 9 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday at Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home.

IDA MAY BARNES
ELKHART -- - Ida May Barnes, 94, died Thursday, Aug. 14, 2003, at Bethel Home in Montezuma.
She was born Dec. 20, 1908, to Ernest W. and Anna C. (Franken) Gibbs in Odell, Neb.
She married Fred M. Barnes. He preceded her in death on May 23, 1985.
She spent her early years at Newkirk, Okla., where she attended school. A former resident of Longton, she moved to Elkhart in 1942. She has been a resident of Montezuma for the past four years.
She was a homemaker, and a Sunday school teacher for many years.
Her interests included cooking, reading and baking.
She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Elkhart, Better Homes Club in Elkhart and Watch us Grow 4-H Leaders in Elkhart.
Survivors include three sons, Phillip Scott, Newkirk,Okla., Lynn Scott, Newkirk, Okla., and Ernest Barnes, Elkhart; two daughters, Barbara Crosley, Elkhart, and Connie Sue Craig, Evans, Colo.; two step-daughters, Pat Wesbroook, Arkansas City, and Shirleene Lacquement, Des Moines, Iowa.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; one son, Freddie Barnes; and one step daughter, Dorothy Troxell.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Church of the Nazarene in Elkhart with the Reverend Ronald D. Crosley and Pastor Jimmye Cole presiding.
Burial will follow at Elkhart Cemetery.
Calling time is from 2 until 8 p.m. Sunday at Garnand Funeral Home in Elkhart.
