CRAIG ALLEN FINCH
ULYSSES ญญ Craig Allen Finch, 44, died Friday, July 18, 2003, at his home in Ulysses.
He was born Oct. 11, 1958, to Willis Franklin Finch and Shirley Ann (Nunley) Finch Goodwin.
He married Tracey Faulkner July 3, 1982 in Garden City.
He was a 1976 graduate of US Grant High School in Oklahoma City, Okla. He entered the US Navy after graduation. He served until 1978 when he was injured and received an Honorable Medical Discharge. He has been a Ulysses resident for the past 15 years.
He was a member of the Shelton Memorial Christian Church in Ulysses.
Survivors include his parents, Harold R. and Shirley A. Goodwin, Ulysses; one sister, Cindy Walker and husband, Lynn, Holcomb; three step-brothers, Mike Goodwin,Oklahoma City, Bruce Goodwin, Carrollton, Texas, and Randy Goodwin, Bloomington, Ill.; one step-sister, Angie Gilliam, Oklahoma City; and numerous uncles, aunts, nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his father, Willis Franklin Finch; and grandparents, German and Myrtle Nunley and Hiram and Leona Finch.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Shelton Memorial Christian Church in Ulysses with Rev. Bill Harrold presiding.
Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery
in Garden City.

KATHRYN L. STUART
Ulysses ญญ Kathryn "Katie" L. Stuart, 72, died Sunday, July 20, 2003, Bob Wilson Memorial Hospital in Ulysses.
She was born Aug. 25, 1930, to Russell and Edith (Fogleman) Brewer in St. Louis, Okla.
She married Lamar Stuart Aug. 11, 1950 in Clayton, N.M. He preceded her in death Aug. 24, 1997.
She was a clerk for the Pitts and Burke Shoe Store and The Hutch Clothing Store, both of Ulysses. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Christian Church in Lake Charles, La.
Survivors also include one son, Terry Stuart and wife, Kathy, Ulysses; two daughters, Susan Kibbe and husband, Tom, Lafayette, La., and Mary Ann McGillivray and husband, Kelly, Colorado Springs, Colo.; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her parents.
Family and friends are requested to meet at Garnand Funeral Home Chapel in Ulysses at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. at the Ulysses Cemetery
in Ulysses with Rev. Bill Harrold presiding.

RICHARD HARDIN
Richard "Kenny" Hardin, 81, died Monday, July 21, 2003, at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal.
He was born March 9, 1922, to Eli C. and Edna B. (Carter) Hardin in Gentryville, Mo.
He married June V. House Dec. 29, 1945, in Troy, Mo. She survives.
He moved to Liberal in 1948. He was a welder at Tradewinds Industries for seven years. He worked for Carlile Asphalt for 21 years, and he was an equipment operator for the City of Liberal Street Department for five years, retiring in 1984.
He was a World War II veteran. He served in the U.S. Army. He was a life member of the V.F.W. Lane Day Post No. 3166 in Liberal.
Other survivors include one son, Jim Hardin and wife, Carol, Colorado Springs, Colo.; three daughters, Judy Kirk and husband, Don, Liberal, Carolyn Kapp and husband, Rodney, Ulysses, and Virginia Hall and husband, David, Liberal; one brother, Raynard L. Hardin and wife, Nona, El Dorado Springs, Mo.; one sister, Geraldine West, Marceline, Mo.; eleven grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; one step-granddaughter and one great-great granddaughter.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at First Southern Baptist Church in Liberal with Rev. Keith Bryant presiding.
Burial will be at Liberal Cemetery
in Liberal with Military Honors by the Honor Guard, Fort Riley.

M. MARIE ROSSON
PLAINS -- M. Marie Rosson, 94, died Monday, July 21, 2003, at Southwest Medical Center in Oklahoma City, Okla.
She was born Oct. 1, 1908, to Charlie Jason and Daisy Roberta (Mackey) Simonson in Plains.
She married William Keith Rosson Sept. 5, 1941, in Liberal. He died May 1964.
She attended grade school in Syracuse before moving back to Plains. She and her husband farmed, and she maintained the home.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Plains.
Her hobbies and interests included hand crafting Christmas socks, working in her yard and spending time with her family.
Survivors include two daughters, Linda Rae Felan, Oklahoma City and Betty Patterson, Plains; one brother, Bernard "Skeet" Simonson, New Plymouth, Idaho; five grandchildren, Stephen Patterson, Dodge City, Debbie Edwards, Miami, Okla., Susan Jacobs, Plains, Kari Livingston, Oklahoma City and Keith Felan, Meade; ten great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Roy Simonson, Jewell Simonson and Leon Simonson; and three sisters, Edna Lunsford, Lavena Rowe and Alina Rorick.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at United Methodist Church in Plains with the Rev. Terry Mayhew presiding.
Burial will be at the Plains Cemetery
in Plains.

VERNON MAUPIN
ULYSSES -- Vernon Maupin, 74, died Monday, July 21, 2003, at Bob Wilson Memorial Hospital in Ulysses.
He was born Aug. 23, 1928, to George and Margaret (Filbeck) Maupin in Hutchinson.
He married Martha Lee Reames Oct. 26, 1950 in Clayton, N.M. She survives.
He moved to Stevens County as a child. He was a graduate of Hugoton High School. He was a Ulysses resident since 1966.
He worked at City Service, Helix Plant until 1970, when he became the owner and operator of Maupin Electric in Ulysses.
He was a member and past deacon of First Baptist Church in Ulysses. He was also a member of the Midian Temple, and a 32 degree Mason and member of the Scottish Rite of Free Masonary. He was a member of the Ulysses Masonic Lodge No. 435 and Ulysses Eastern Star No. 471.
He was a Master Electrician and past board member of the Ulysses Electrical and Plumbing Boards.
Survivors also include one son, Robert D. Maupin and wife, Debra, Ulysses; one daughter, Mary Keller and husband, Kenny, Ulysses; one brother, Tommy Maupin, Liberal; one uncle, Carl Maupin, Garden City; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers and one sister.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at First Baptist Church in Ulysses with the Rev. Barry Durkee presiding.
Burial will follow at the Ulysses Cemetery
in Ulysses with Masonic graveside Rites.

RAYMOND LLOYD HECOX
Raymond Lloyd Hecox, 74, died Thursday July 24, 2003, at Wheatridge Park Care Center in Liberal.
He was born Nov. 6, 1928, to Glenn E. and Erna (Plunkett) Hecox in Tyrone, Okla.
He married Pauline Mason July 18, 1948, in Liberal. She preceded him in death in 1995.
He then married Nadine Burris Nov. 7 1996, in Liberal. She survives.
He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1951 to 1953 where he was an aviation equipment foreman. He worked as a salesman and was the manager of Weskem Chemicals at the time of his retirement in 1991.
He was a member of the American Legion and attended First Church of God in Liberal.
Other survivors include one daughter, Carol Jayne and husband, Kelly, Kingman; one step-son, Wes Passmore and wife, Kathy, Meade; four step-daughters, Pat Wooten and husband, Dean, Carlsbad, N.M.; Sharilyn Purcell and husband, Chris, Beaver, Okla.; Marilyn Newman and husband, Alan, Forgan, Okla. and Arlene Brown and husband, Lonnie, Beaver, Okla.; one brother, Vern Hecox and wife, Irene, Tyrone, Okla.; one sister, Helen Smith, Garden City; four grandchildren, Brittney and Christina Jayne, Kingman; Scott Jayne, Lawrence and and Andrew Jayne and wife, Heather, Wichita; 13 step-grandchildren and numerous of step-great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one son, Kirk Alan Hecox and one sister, Vera J. Cargill.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home Chapel in Liberal with the Rev. Rex Petty presiding. Military honors will be given by the United States Marine Corps.

WESLEY RAY "DEAN" DEAN
Wesley Ray "Dean" Dean, 85, died Wednesday, July 23, 2003 at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal.
He was born on June 8, 1918, to Ray Verle Crokshank and Daisy Lucile Dean in Agra, Okla.
He married L. Laverne Chambers on June 8, 1949, in Dumas, Texas. She died Feb. 25, 1989.
He served from 1942 to 1945 as a Machinist Rate First Class with the Navy Seabees 96th Battalion.
He was a long time Liberal resident and retired in 1980 as a plant foreman for Anadarko and had also worked heavy construction building gasoline plants.
Survivors include one son, Donald Dean and wife, Vicki, Liberal; two daughters, Darla Jenkins, Liberal and Cherry Kay Patton, Killeen, Texas; one sister, Nowanna Old, Ft. Worth, Texas; six grandchildren including Shelley Schupman, Jason Jenkins and Amy McCulley and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home Chapel in Liberal.
Burial will be at Liberal Cemetery
in Liberal.
