AGNES O. WILLIAMSON
SATANTA ญญ Agnes O. Williamson, 87, died Friday, May 16, 2003, at the Satanta Long Term Care Unit in Satanta.
She was born Jan. 26, 1916, to Lester and Laura (Lucas) Hickman in Haskell County.
She was a lifetime resident of Haskell County.
She married Francis H.P. "Dutch" Williamson Dec. 8, 1935, in Sublette. He died Feb. 23, 1972.
She and her husband owned and operated the Modoc Hotel, Williamson Grocery, Furniture Store, Satanta Cafe, Wigwam and other businesses, all of Satanta.
She supported many community events.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women, both of Satanta.
She was a past member of the Rebekah Lodge, and past Den Mother of the Cub Scouts, both of Satanta.
Survivors include two sons, Rodney Paul Williamson and wife, Letha, of Satanta, and Laurence Dale Williamson and wife, Deborah, of La Porte, Colo.; one daughter-in-law, Verna Ondesko and husband, Paul, White City, Ore.; six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; one son, Ronald Dean Williamson on Nov. 26, 2001; and three brothers, Laurence, Lenn and Billy Dwayne Hickman.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the United Methodist Church in Satanta, with the Rev. Jeff Miller presiding.
Burial will follow at the Dudley Township Cemetery
in Satanta.
Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Sunday at the Haskell County Funeral Home in Sublette.

CLYDE S. SCOTT
FOWLER ญญ Clyde S. Scott, 85, died Monday, May 12, 2003, in Sun City, Ariz.
He was born in Meade.
He moved to Arizona with his family in 1951.
He and his wife, Genevieve, were married for 58 years.
For many years he was a heavy equipment salesman. He worked as a starter at the South Course and Quail Run golf courses for more than 20 years.
He recently celebrated his 60th year with the Webb Lodge No. 275 AF and AM of Meade.
Survivors include one daughter, Constance, of Arvada, Colo.; one son, Thomas Scott, Phoenix, Ariz.; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Memorial services were conducted at St. Christopher's Episcopal Church in Sun City. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Fowler Cemetery
in Fowler.
Memorials are suggested to the church building fund in care of Fidler-Orme Mortuary, Box F, 212 S. Fowler Street, Meade, KS 67864.
EDWIN HANSEN
Edwin Hansen, 77, Liberal, died Sunday, May 18, 2003, at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal.
Private services are being arranged by Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home in Liberal.
STELLA S. GAEDE
Stella S. Gaede, 90, Liberal, died Sunday, May 18, 2003, at Wheatridge Park Care Center in Liberal.
She was born July 13, 1912, to Hugo O. and Amelia Rotha Wiebe at Whitewater.
She married Edwin Gaede June 12, 1938, in Whitewater. He died Jan. 2, 2003.
They moved to the Liberal are in 1956.
She attended school at Brainard. She attended Southwest Kansas Area Vo-Tech where she received a degree as a certified nursing assistant. She worked as a CNA for the Smith and Gash Nursing Home for five years and later at Epworth Hospital and Southwest Medical Center, where she retired in 1977.
She was a charter member of the Calvary Mennonite Church for more than 40 years. She served as a church trustee.
She was a volunteer at the Et Cetera Shop for more than 20 years.
Survivors include two sons, Norman Gaede and his wife, Judy, Vernal, Utah, and Duane Gaede and his wife, Dixie, Eugene, Ore.; 15 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-granchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, one brother and three sisters.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Calvary Mennonite Church in Liberal, with the Rev. Ervey Unruh presiding.
Burial will follow at the Turpin Mennonite Cemetery
in Turpin, Okla.
Friends may call from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday or from 8-10 a.m. Thursday at Miller Mortuary in Liberal.
FREDDIE M. JONES
Freddie Martin Jones, 83, Liberal, died Sunday, May 18, 2003, at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal.
He was born Oct. 12, 1919, to Alexander Houston Garfield and Mary Jane (Tanner) Jones in Beaver County, Okla.
He graduated from Liberal High School in 1939.
He married Velma Chessmore Sept. 9, 1939, in Liberal. She survives.
He was a longtime Liberal resident.
He retired as a farm laborer, working for the Boles Farm west of Liberal for 45 years.
He was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Liberal.
Survivors also include two sons, LeRoy Jones and wife, Linda, Post, Texas, and Gary Jones and wife, Debbie, Liberal; two daughters, Loretta Cunningham and husband, Verle, Topeka, and Neoma Blake and husband, Loyd, Big Lake, Texas; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one infant daughter, Freda Rae Jones; seven brothers, Luther, Virgil, Johnnie, Ira, Eugene, Gay and Olen Jones; and one sister, Iva Jones.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the First Assembly of God Church in Liberal, with Pastor Richard Martin presiding.
Burial will be at the Liberal Cemetery.
Friends may call until 9 p.m. today, from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. Wednesday and from 9-11 a.m. Thursday, and may greet the family from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, at Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home in Liberal.

HELEN ROBERTS
ELKHART ญญ Helen Roberts, 86, died Sunday, May 18, 2003, at Morton County Care Center in Elkhart.
She was born Jan. 22, 1917, to George L. and Frona C. (Radford) Bullock in Rich Hill, Mo.
She spent her early years in Rich Hill, and later became a resident of Pond Creek, Okla. She moved to Cheney in 1973, where she took care of her ailing parents. She moved to Goddard in 1985, and then to Elkhart in 1986.
She was a homemaker.
Her hobbies included fishing, hunting and cooking.
She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Cheney.
Survivors include three step-children; five sisters, Hazel Martin, Liberal, Maxine Cook, Sierra Vista, Ariz., Darlene Lucas, Wichita, Judy Chatham, Topeka, and Joyce Sparks, Cheney; two brothers, Ray Bullock and Jack Bullock, both of Longbeach, Calif.; one sister-in-law, Maudi Roberts, Pond Creek; two brothers-in law, Burt Roberts and Floyd Roberts, both of Pond Creek; seven nieces and two nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Sam Roberts; one brother, George Bullock Jr.; and two nephews.
Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Pond Creek Cemetery
in Pond Creek, Okla., with Pastor Terry Koehn presiding.
Burial will be at the Pond Creek Cemetery.
Friends may call until 8 p.m. today at the Garnand Funeral Home in Elkhart.

JOSE F. ACOSTA
ULYSSES ญญ Jose F. Acosta, 74, died Sunday, May 18, 2003, at Lantern Park Manor in Colby.
He was born Oct. 15, 1928, to Trinidad and Macedonia (Morales) Acosta in Chihuahua, Mexico.
He married Estefana Hermosillo Nov. 2, 1952, in Chihuahua. She preceded him in death.
He was a farmer before his retirement.
He was a member of the St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Elkhart.
Survivors include two sons, Ramon Acosta, Odessa, Texas, and Alvaro Acosta, Satanta; four daughters, Rita Natividad, Maria Sandoval, and Imelda Acosta, all of Ulysses, and Gloria Lujan, Liberal; three brothers, Erasmo Morales, Ulysses, Eladio Morales, Satanta, and Socorro Morales, Fort Stockton, Texas; two sisters, Maria and Martina Aranda, Elkhart; 22 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Guadalupe Morales; one grandson, Manuel Acosta; and one nephew, Erasmo Morales Jr.
Rosary service will be at 7 p.m. today at Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Ulysses. Funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church, with the Rev. Louis Hoang presiding.
Burial will follow at the Elkhart Cemetery
in Elkhart.
Friends may call until 6 p.m. today at Garnand Funeral Home, 405 W. Grant, Ulysses.

Helen I. Guttridge, 90, died Tuesday, May 20, 2003, at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal.

Helen Guttridge, 90, Liberal, died Tuesday, May 20, 2003, at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal.
She was born June 26, 1912, to Herbert and Alta Mae (Sessler) Brown.
She married Henry Guttridge Dec. 3, 1931, in Liberal. He died September 1988.
She was a lifetime resident of Liberal.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church and the McArthur Sunday School Class. She was a 4H Leader and was active in the Cloverleaf Extension, and was a supporter of Cal Farley's Boys.
Survivors include brother, Uriel Brown and wife, Mary, Arkansas City; three sisters, Betty Mitchell and husband Clyde, McPherson, Elma Brandes, Dodge City, and Edna Packer, Shattuck, Okla.; sister-in-law, Erna Brown, Liberal; two grand-daughters, Debbie Peterson and husband, Earl, Liberal, and Phyllis Boller and husband, John, Manhattan; four great-grandchildre, Nicole Harris, Manhattan, Michelle Harris, Lincoln, Neb., Kirsten Harris, Liberal, and Calen Boller, Manhattan.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother, Marlin Brown, sister, Margaret Holt, son, Eldon Guttridge, and daughter, Jeannette Beauchamp.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church in Liberal, with the Rev. David Bagwell presiding.
Burial will follow at the Liberal Cemetery
in Liberal.
