KARL E. NILES
SATANTA Karl Edwin NIles, 85, died Thursday, March 13, 2003, at Satanta District Hospital in Satanta.
He was born Nov. 9, 1917, to Harry Edwin and Grace Ralphona (Campbell) Niles in Beaver County, Okla.
He married Ruby Welch June 1, 1941, in Beaver, Okla. She survives.
He moved from Seiling, Okla., to Richfield in 1943, where he farmed and ranched until 1968. He then moved to Satanta and worked as a maintenance man at Satanta District Hospital until his retirement. He also worked as a carpenter for Carlyle Kiehne.
He was a past member of the Soil Conservation Board in Morton County for 20 years, a 4-H leader in Richfield for 10 years, past school board member in Richfield, and he played Santa Claus for many years.
He was a member of Richfield United Methodist Church for 30 years, and a member of United Methodist Church in Satanta. He was also leader of Methodist Men for many years.
His hobbies include spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Other survivors include two sons, Kent Edwin Niles and wife, Ingrid, Richfield, and Robert Keith Niles and wife, Bonnie, Arkansas City; one foster son, Marion L. Brown and wife, Jean, Cawker City; two daughters, Deanna S. Niles, Satanta, and Janet K. Anderson and husband, Thaine, Cawker City; four brothers, Kenneth Niles, Borger, Texas, Earl C. Niles and wife, Zola Faye, Victoria, Texas, Dean Niles and wife, Virginia, Edmond, Okla., and Clifford L. Niles and wife, Fern, Brownfield, Texas; two sisters, Marie Jackson, Borger, and Neoma Niles, Sudonia, Ariz.; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Raphonia Niles.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at United Methodist Church in Satanta with the Rev. Jeff Miller presiding.
Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday at Richfield Cemetery
in Richfield.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today at Haskell County Funeral Home in Sublette.

JACKIE D. ROBSON
SUBLETTE Jackie Dawn Robson, 9-years-old, died Saturday, March 15, 2003, at Satanta District Hospital in Satanta.
She was born Aug. 11, 1993, to David and Brandy Robson, and Tim and Stacy (Green) Golden in Garden City.
Her hobbies included listening to christian tapes and CMT with music.
Survivors include her parents; grandparents, Jerry Robson and wife, Violet, Sublette, Corky Green and wife, Jan, Mushue, Texas; great-grandparents, Sarah Myers, Kalvesta, Jim Paris and wife, Lois, Tucumcari, N.M., Ruby Green, San Jon, N.M.; great-great grandmother, Cora White, San Jon, N.M.; two sisters, Morgan Robson and Tanisha Golden; three brothers, J.D. Robson, Mason Golden, and Brent Golden; aunts and uncles, Cindy Axtell and husband, Mark, Boise City, Okla., Lisa Graham and husband, David, Texico, N.M., Tammy Green, Clovis, N.M., Joy Barrera and husband, Eric, Montezuma; cousins, Heather, Remington, Colt Axtell, Christina, Erica Jory Barrera, Geret Graham; numerous other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her great-grandfathers, Samuel Myers and Lacy Green.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Christian Church in Sublette with the Minister David Erwin and the Minister Tom Massey presiding.
Burial will be at Haskell County Cemetery
in Sublette.
Friends may call until 8 p.m. today, and from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday at Haskell County Funeral Home in Sublette.

KENNETH W. STUBBS
Kenneth Wayne Stubbs, 53, of Liberal, died Saturday, March 15, 2003, in Perryton, Texas.
He was born Nov. 19, 1949, to James Wayne and Thelma (Gameson) Stubbs in Olney, Texas.
He married Diane Kay Bryant on March 9, 1982. She survives.
He attended school in Manitou Springs, Colo., and graduated from Cheyenne High School in 1968.
He was a Viet Nam Veteran, serving in the U.S. Marines, receiving many medals and a Purple Heart. He worked for El Paso County as an operator, and was later an electrician.
His hobbies included camping, fishing, and hunting with family and friends.
He had been a Liberal resident since January 2003.
Other survivors include, three sons, James Wayne Stubbs, Dodge City, Jesse Ray Stubbs, Ft. Collins, Colo., Jeremy Kendall Stubbs, Woodland Park, Colo.; one daughter, Angela Sue Mortenson and husband, Mark, Waupaca, Wis.; one sister, Treva Carsell and husband, Mitchell, Phoenix, Ariz.; two grandchildren, Brianne and Courtney Mortenson.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial services will be conducted in Green Mountain Falls, Colo. at a later date.
Friends may call from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. Friday at Miller Mortuary. Cremation will follow viewing.

GLENN E. GILLESPIE
HUGOTON Glenn E. Gillespie, 87, died Thursday, March 20, 2003, at Stevens County Hospital in Hugoton.
He was born March 3, 1916, to Roy E. and Grace (Teter) Gillespie in Sitka Township in Comanche County.
He married Laura V. Wilson on Aug. 28, 1948, in Stevens County. She survives.
He was a farmer, and also worked at Farm Bureau as an agency manager for 24 years.
His hobbies included spending time with his family, teasing and laughing, hunting, and fishing.
He was a member of First Christian Church in Hugoton.
Other survivors include, three sons, Dennis Gillespie and wife, Sandy, Jefferson, Texas, Roger Gillespie and wife, Gail, Hugoton, Neal R. Gillespie, Hugoton; one daughter, Kay Gillespie, Garden City; one brother, Floyd "Fud" Gillespie and wife, Betty, Hugoton; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; numerous nephews, nieces, and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Helen Marie "Billie" Curtis.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at First Christian Church in Hugoton with the Minister Jeff Aenk presiding.
Burial will be at Hugoton Cemetery.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. Saturday, and from 2-8 p.m. Sunday at Paul's Funeral Home.

VIVIAN L. NICKERSON
ULYSSES Vivian L. Nickerson, 81, died Thursday, March 20, 2003, at Stanton County Long Term Care Unit in Johnson.
She was born Oct. 30, 1921, to Edward and Ollie May (Mynatt) Zimmerman in Bent County, Colo.
She married Merle E. Nickerson on July 25, 1938, in Raton, N.M. He died Dec. 24, 1985.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of the Shelton Memorial Christian Church, Christian Women's Fellowship, Prairie Star EHU, and the Happy Hour Club, all of Ulysses.
She had been a Ulysses resident since 1949.
Survivors include, one son, Merle Nickerson Jr. and wife, Jessie, Ulysses; one brother, Bert Zimmerman, Phoenix, Ariz.; two sisters, Gladys Turner and Marjorie Wilson, both of Las Amimas, Colo.; two granddaughters, Merlene Spencer and husband Garry, and Marlene Nickerson, Ulysses; and five great-grandchildren, Levi, Colby, Mandy, Krystal, and Courtney.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Betty Woodruff; and one great-grandson, Nathan.
Private family graveside services will be at Ulysses Cemetery
in Ulysses with Helen Durham presiding.

MARY B. BRIGGS
PERRYTON, Texas Mary B. Briggs, 70, died Sunday, March 23, 2003, in Perryton.
Survivors include, her husband, H.L. Briggs, Perryton; one daughter, Sue Bryan and husband, Jerry, Perryton; one sister, Joy Miller, Liberal; granddaughter, Jacey Irvin and husband, Brad, Perryton; and two great-granddaughters, Hannah and Bailey Irvin, also of Perryton.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur A. and Geanie (Finch) Matheson; and one son, Jerry Lee Briggs in 1973.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Natoma City Cemetery
in Natoma.

in Natoma.

DENISE R. HOOD
Denise Renee "Diz" Hood, 46, died Tuesday, March 25, 2003, at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal.
She was born May 1, 1956, to Richard C. and Betty J. (Chance) Steadman in Pratt.
She attended Liberal schools.
She worked as a waitress for many years.
She had been a Liberal resident since 1956.
Survivors include, three sons, David Jordan, Liberal, Zachary Heston and John Hood, both of Houston; one daughter, Marci Hood, San Angelo, Texas; her mother and father; four brothers, Gary Lee Steadman and wife, LouAnn, Colwich, Larry Lynn Steadman and wife, Carol, Kenedale, Texas, Jerry Don Steadman and wife, Loraine, Liberal, Terry Dean Steadman, Houston; two grandsons, David Chase Heston and Seth Brown.
She was preceded in death by her step-father, John E. Heston.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Miller Chapel.
Friends may call from 1-8 p.m. Friday, and from 8 a.m. until noon Sunday.
