PHILLIP D. CONWAY
MEADE ญญ Phillip Donald Conway, 86, died Saturday, Feb. 8, 2003, at Lone Tree Compassionate Care Center in Meade.
He was born June 1, 1916, in Watheena.
He married Dorothy M. Norsworthy July 23, 1938, in Ensign. She survives.
He was a retired farmer and rancher.
He was a member of the Meade Roping Club.
He was a lifetime resident of the Meade area.
Other survivors include, one son, James Conway, Meade; two daughters, Louise Castleberry, Bethany, Okla., and Nancy Frank, Angel Fire, N.M.; five grandsons, Jeff Frank, Shane Bond, Cody, Derek, and Phillip Conway; three great-grandsons, Justin, Nathan, and Austin Bond.
He was preceded in death by one son, Gene Conway.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Church of the Nazarene in Meade with the Rev. Ron Willard presiding.
Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery
in Meade.
Friends may call until 7 p.m. today at Fidler-Orme Mortuary in Meade.
ALBERT F. GALLEGOS SR.
Albert F. "Shorty" Gallegos Sr., 76, died Monday, Feb. 10, 2003, at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal.
He was born April 27, 1926, to Rosendo and Eligia Rosendo in El Maro, Colo.
He worked at American Crystal Sugar Factory and June's Chevrolet in Rocky Ford, Colo., for many years.
He was a Liberal resident for 11 years.
He is survived one son, Albert Gallegos and wife, Laurie, Liberal; one daughter, Christina Gallegos and husband, John, Liberal; five grandchildren, Albert, Tasha, J.J., Ashley and Issac, all of Liberal; three brothers, Sammy Gallegos and wife, Mary, Manzanola, Colo., Leroy Gallegos, Rocky Ford, Jerry Gallegos and wife, Ann, Woodland, Colo.; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one nephew, Leroy Gallegos Jr.
Rosary will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday at St. Peters Catholic Church in Rocky Ford.
Mass and burial services will be at 9 a.m. Thursday at St. Peters Catholic Church in Rocky Ford.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Wednesday at Ustick Mortuary in Rocky Ford.
JAMES K. CEARLEY
SUBLETTE ญญ James Kenneth "Ken" Cearley, 70, died Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2003, at Satanta District Hospital in Satanta.
He was born Feb. 29, 1932, to Tracy James and Myrtle Marie (Frazier) Cearley in Sparks, Okla.
He married Ruth O. Green Aug. 17, 1952, in Meeker, Okla. She died March 13, 1986.
He married Sue (Spradlin) Roberts Feb. 6, 1987, in Sublette. She survives.
He was a teacher for 40 years. He taught in Sparks, Langdon, Lakin, and Sublette. He was also a basketball, football, and golf coach.
His hobbies included golfing, fishing, K-State football games, and traveling.
He was a member of United Methodist Church in Sublette; Masonic Tyrian Lodge, Garden City; Median Shrine, Wichita; Wichita Consistary, Wichita; and retired member of KNEA.
Other survivors include three sons, James Michael Cearley and wife, Barbara, Michael Lee Cearley and wife, Andrea, both of Sublette, and Rex Lee Cearley and wife, Colleen, Abilene; one daughter, Suzan Kay Kimball and husband, Brad, Sublette; two step-daughters, Sarah Roberts, Tonganoxie, and Mary Dixon and husband, Bob, Longmont, Colo.; 14 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and numerous other relatives.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Alice Barnett.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at United Methodist Church in Sublette with the Rev. Keith Fink presiding.
Masonic graveside services will be at Haskell County Cemetery
in Sublette.
Friends may call until 8 p.m. today, and from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday at Haskell County Funeral Home in Sublette.

LEN R. BOWIE
Len Royel Bowie, 74, of Liberal, died Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2003, at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal.
He was born Dec. 31, 1928, to Arthur and Trudy (Erwin) Bowie in Jasper County, Texas.
He attended Rowe High School in Jasper, Texas.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He worked at Carlile Asphalt Company in Liberal for 17 years, and also worked for the City of Liberal Street Department for 13 years. He retired in 1995.
He was a member of the Baptist Church in Jasper.
He is survived by his companion, Alberta Carr Bowie, Liberal; three aunts, Earcy Beaty, Jasper, Neva Thomas, Houston, Texas, Mirty Williams, Silsbee, Texas; one nephew, Tim Terry and wife, Sherry, Hutchinson; and numerous cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Bibleway Church of God in Christ in Liberal with the Rev. Lawrence Johnson and the Rev. B.D. Williams presiding.
Burial will be at Liberal Cemetery.

LINDA S. ENGLAND
Johnson ญญ Linda S. England, 45, died Monday, Feb. 10, 2003, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.
She was born Oct. 9, 1957, to Richard and DeAnna (Kennedy) Whitaker Sr. in Columbus, Ohio.
She married Pat England June 18, 1978, in Vernal, Utah. He survives.
She was a homemaker.
Her hobbies included gardening, hunting, fishing, camping, and working in her garden.
She was a member of Bethel Church of the Nazarene, and the Christian Motorcycle Association.
Other survivors include, one son, Cpl. Byron A. England, Jacksonville, N.C.; one daughter, ReAnn M. England, Arkansas City; two brothers, Richard L. Whitaker and William Whitaker, both of Fort Worth, Texas; and one sister, Debra A. Nelson, Columbus.
She was preceded in death by her mother; and one brother, Rick Whitaker.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Garnand Funeral Home Chapel in Johnson with the Rev. Tom Bose presiding.
Burial will follow at Greeley County Cemetery
in Tribune.

DORIS C. BUCKNER
HUGOTON ญญ Doris Claudine Buckner, 81, died Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2003, at the Health Care Center at Larksfield Place in Wichita.
She was born Feb. 15, 1921, to Carl and Eliza Maude (Thompson) Massey in Hugoton.
She married Fred A. Buckner Nov. 15, 1953, in Hugoton. He preceded her in death on April 21, 1995.
She was a graduate of Hugoton High School, and graduated from University of Michigan in 1950.
She was a CPA for Don Schmidt Dodge and a motorcycle shop in Wichita.
She was Continental Society Daughters of Indian Wars State President, The Daughters of American Colonists State Treasurer, Wichita Town Committee of the National Society of Colonial Dames of America Treasurer, National Society of Colonial Dames XVII Century-Mary Keen Chaper Treasurer. She was also National Society of U.S. Daughters of 1812 State-Vice-President, and she was also a member of Kansas State Huguenot Society, and Wichita Genealogy Society.
Survivors include, one aunt, Jessie Mae Thompson, Hugoton; and numerous other relatives.
She was also preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Paul's Funeral Home in Hugoton with the Minister Jeff Aenk presiding.
Burial will be at Hugoton Cemetery
in Hugoton.

KENNETH R. OLDACKER
ELKHART ญญ Kenneth Ray Oldacker, 43, died Monday, Feb. 10, 2003, at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center in Enid, Okla.
He was born Nov. 3, 1959, to Richard D. and Donna Lee (Hickle) Hall in Amarillo, Texas.
He was a truck driver and carpenter.
Survivors include his father, Elkhart; one daughter, Jeanette Ann Osborn, Brule, Neb.; one son, Joshua Ray Osborn, Southerland, Neb.; one brother; and four sisters.
He was preceded in death by his mother.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Elkhart Cemetery
in Elkhart with the Rev. Terrell Giddens presiding.
Burial will be at Elkhart Cemetery
in Elkhart.
