W.K. HOUSER
ULYSSES ญญ W.K. "Rusty" Houser, 91, died Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2003, at Bob Wilson Memorial Hospital in Ulysses.
He was born Aug. 22, 1911, to Charlie and Roxie Rosella (Echols) Houser in Royal, Ark.
He married Willie Fore Streater June 24, 1933, in Wewoka, Okla. She died April 13, 1993.
He married Nora Virginia McGlohon April 24, 1994, in Colorado City, Colo. She survives.
He was a pipeline foreman for Cities Service Gas Company, and worked at various locations in Kansas until retirement in 1976.
He was a member and Ordained Deacon of First Baptist Church in Ulysses, and was also a member of Masonic Lodge in Colorado City.
His hobbies included, church work, playing golf, and spending time with family.
Other survivors include, four daughters; Lynda Fagan, Sharps, Fla., Dinah Baker and husband, Al, Jennifer Hawkins and husband, Hugh, and Michelle Lamberson and husband, Wayne, all of Ulysses; one brother, Clifton Houser, Wewoka; one sister, Ernestine Payne, Shawnee, Okla.; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Betty Joyce Graber; and one son-in-law, Morris Graber; five brothers, Lesley Houser, Roy Houser, Luther Keys, Milton Keys, and Pete Keys; two sisters, Mayda Factor and Lois Sullivan.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church in Ulysses with the Rev. Barry Durkee presiding.
Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Colorado City Cemetery
in Colorado City.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. today at Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses.

GARY D. GORDON
HUFFMAN, Texas ญญ Gary Douglas Gordon, 46, died Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2003.
He was born April 10, 1957, to Mervin and Maxine Gordon in Perryton, Texas.
He married Paula Dale Stringfield July 7, 1979, in Perryton. She survives.
He graduated from Perryton High School in 1975, and obtained an associate's degree from Amarillo College in 1977.
Other survivors include, his parents; two daughters, Kimberly Suzette and Shanna Lanette; two brothers, Glen Dale Gordon, and Greg Lance Gordon, all of Liberal; numerous other relatives.
Home-going services were at 10 a.m. Feb. 1, at Harvest Time Church of God in Crosby, Texas with the Pastor Andrew Provazek presiding.
Burial was at Sterling White Cemetery
in Highland, Texas.
LUCILLE M. JUDD
Lucille M. Judd, 83, of Liberal, died Friday, Feb. 7, 2003, at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal.
She was born Sept. 29, 1919, to Bert and Lydia (Poston) Rife in Minneola.
She married Clarence S. Judd Jan. 26, 1941, in Dodge City. He died Feb. 19, 1976.
She graduated from Minneola High School.
She was a homemaker and farmer.
She was a member of the Christian Church in Minneola.
Survivors include, one son, Carmon Judd and wife, Merriloy, Liberal; two grandsons, Kenny Judd, Liberal, and Troy Judd and wife, Lisa, Waycross, Texas; two great-grandchildren, Brady and Mason Judd.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, Ival Rife.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Restlawn Memorial Gardens in Liberal with the Rev. Neville Buchanan presiding.
Friends may call from 1-8 p.m. today, and from 8-10 a.m. Monday at Miller Mortuary in Liberal.
CHARLES W. WOODRING
ULYSSES ญญ Charles W. Woodring, 72, died Thursday, Feb. 6, 2003, in Ulysses.
He was born Feb. 7, 1930, to Jacob and Ada Woodring in Waynesboro, Pa.
He married Bertha Gonzales April 8, 1959, in Guymon, Okla. She survives.
He worked for Gene Lozar Roofing.
His hobbies included playing cards, games, and music.
Other survivors include, four sons, Garry McCaughtry, Amarillo, Texas, Raymond and Charles W. Woodring Jr., both of Topeka, Luiz Woodring, Guymon; nine daughters, Georgietta McCaughtry, Dodge City, Suzann Chavez, Great Bend, Charlotte Otero, Plainview, Texas, Darlene Lopez and Lucella Rodriguez, both of Amarillo, Marylynn and Ada Delores Woodring, both of Dodge City, and Marcelina Perez and Guadaupe Mesta, both of Plainview; two brothers, Dan Woodring, Sacramento, Calif., and Robert Woodring, Waynesboro; one sister, Josephine Shindledecker, Waynesboro; 48 grandchildren; and 38 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Garnand Funeral Home Chapel in Ulysses with Darlene Lopez presiding.
Burial with military graveside rites by Charles B. Hart Post No. 79 will be at Ulysses Cemetery
in Ulysses.
Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. today at Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses.

CARL H. WHITMER
Carl H. Whitmer, 93, of Liberal, died Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2003, at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal.
He was born June 17, 1909, to Henry and Anna (Goodman) Whitmer in Beaver County, Okla.
He married Lela R. Wares May 24, 1929, in Liberal. She died April 22, 1972.
He married Gladys L. (Hiebert) Ellis Dec. 29, 1972, in Liberal. She survives.
He attended school in Beaver.
He worked for the City of Liberal in the sanitation department, airport, Blue Bonnet Courts, and the water department. He was also Superintendent of the Street Department for many years. He retired from the city in 1974, and was the courtesy officer at First National Bank for 21 years before retiring in 1994.
He was a member of Central Christian Church and former member of Elks Lodge No. 1947, in Liberal. He was also a member of Liberal BeeJays Baseball, where he served as President of the Board for five terms. He also served on the Liberal City Commission for two terms.
Other survivors include, three daughters, Billie Carleen Naegele and husband, Nolan, Buchanan Dam, Texas, Velda Lea Pearson, Dumas, Texas, and Ruth Ann Feese and husband, Kenneth, also of Dumas; one step-son, James Ellis and wife, Ginger, Cincinnati, Ohio; two step-daughters, Juanita Bradford and husband, Melvin, Houston, Texas, Kathy Norton and husband, David, Tishamingo, Okla.; two nieces, Illa Mae Mustoe and Marge Fallwell; 18 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; two great-great-great grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; one sister; one grandson; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Saturday at Central Christian Church in Liberal with the Rev. Spencer Powers presiding.
Burial was at Liberal Cemetery
in Liberal.

JAMES L. PHOENIX
SUBLETTE ญญ James "Jim" L. Phoenix, 49, died Saturday, Feb. 8, 2003, at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City.
He was born Nov. 8, 1953, to John Lester and Lillian May (Kramer) Phoenix in Sublette.
He married Barbara E. Faurot Aug. 31, 1974, in Sublette. She survives.
He worked as owner of Shorty's Bar for nine years, was a farmer and also worked for City of Sublette for five years.
His hobbies included, welding, hunting, and drag racing.
He was a member of The Christian Church in Sublette, and a past member of the Sublette Jaycees.
He was a lifetime resident of Sublette.
Other survivors include, two sons, Jason Robert Phoenix, and James Matthew Phoenix, both of Lawrence; two brothers, John Phoenix and wife, Shirley, and Larry Phoenix and wife, Terry, all of Sublette; two sisters, M. Darlene Ash, Afton, Okla., and Marsha D. Collins and husband, Kenneth, Tahlequah, Okla.; numerous other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Dean Phoenix and Bill Gene Phoenix.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at The Christian Church in Sublette with the Rev. Keith Fink and the Minister David Erwin presiding.
Burial will be at Haskell County Cemetery
in Sublette.

MALLARI G. HARMON
ULYSSES ญญ Mallari Genet Harmon, 17, died Saturday, Feb. 8, 2003, at Stanton County Hospital in Johnson.
She was born Jan. 26, 1986, to Marc and Kim (Beohler) Harmon in Ulysses.
She was a junior at Stanton County High School.
Her hobbies included music, school, friends, and family.
She was a member of many school activities, and First United Methodist Church Youth in Johnson.
Survivors include, her parents; three brothers, Cody Harmon and Todd Harmon, both of Johnson, and Chad Harmon, Ulysses; two sisters, Lori Beohler, Garden City, and Jami Harmon, Ulysses; grandparents, Larry and Shirley Harmon, San Isabel, Colo., Beverly Beohler, Ulysses, and Lynn and Kati Elliott, Sun City, Ariz.; great-grandparents, Lois Faulds, Ulysses, Bill and Valeda Elliott, Sun City, Ariz., and William Hawkins, La Junta, Colo.; nieces Kaiya Harmon, Ulysses, and Kimbria Harmon, Johnson.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Fields Memorial Wesleyan Church in Johnson with the Rev. Dave Kaufmann presiding.
Burial will be at Stanton County Cemetery
in Johnson.
