IRVIN R. LATTA
MONTEZUMA Irvin Robert Latta, 89, died Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2003, at Bethel Home Inc. in Montezuma.
He was born July 4, 1913, to Oliver and Lilly (Hadlock) Latta in Gray County.
He married Evelyn Unruh Aug. 21, 1937, in Montezuma. She survives.
He was a farmer and electrician. He retired in 1988.
He was a member of United Methodist Church in Montezuma, past member of Lion's Club, and a member of N.R.A.
He was a lifetime resident of Montezuma.
Other survivors include, two sons, Robert Latta and wife, Judy, Meade, Richard Latta and Susan Bruns, Indianapolis, Ind; one sister, Zella Fluto, Raymond, Wash.; one grandson, John Latta, Marietta, Ga.; and numerous other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Oscar and Perry Latta; and one sister, Alice Evans.
Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at United Methodist Church in Montezuma with the Rev. Gene Eschleman presiding.
Burial will be at Morningside Cemetery
in Montezuma.

ROBERTA P. ROUSE
ULYSSES Roberta P. (Bobby) Rouse, 82, died Monday, Feb. 3, 2003, at Bob Wilson Memorial Hospital in Ulysses.
She was born July 14, 1920, to Benjamin Harrison and Ivy Mae (Faulkner) Crocker in Horace.
She married Gerald D. Rouse Sept. 1, 1942, in Colorado Springs, Colo. He died Dec. 20, 2002.
She worked at Minor Drug, McNitt Drug, and Crocker Theater.
She was a member of the Ulysses Bowling League, Sweet Adalines, Ulysses Woman's Golf Association, past chairman of the American Cancer Society of Ulysses. Also a member of Golden Jubilee, P.T.A., and Monday Study Club.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church.
She had been a Ulysses resident since 1947.
Survivors include, one daughter, Marsha Sherrod, Joplin, Mo.; one brother, Charles "Bo" Crocker, Ulysses; two sisters, Virginia Binney, Ulysses, and Thelma Robinson, Colorado Springs; five grandchildren, Valerie Smith, Pamela Zicker, Danielle Sherrod, Nicole Sherrod, and Jordan Sherrod; three great-grandchildren, Curtis, Cailyn, and Lydia Zicker.
She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Connie Smith; one son-in-law, Charles Smith; and one sister, Helen Hurlbut.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church in Ulysses with the Rev. Dennis H. Livingston presiding.
Burial will be at Ulysses Cemetery
in Ulysses.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday at Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses.

ALICE J. PETERS
SCOTT CITY Alice J. Peters, 94, died Friday, Jan. 31, 2003, at Health Care Center of Gunnison in Gunnison, Colo.
She was born March 8, 1908, to Richard Andrew and Sarah Alice Amanda (Deck) Tribble in Circleville.
She married Gerald E. Peters Oct. 18, 1935, in Soldier. He died Oct. 31, 1984.
She was a farmer and homemaker, and also taught school.
She was a member of First Christian Church, CWF, Scott City VIP Center, Rebekah Lodge, National Society Zeta Tau Alpha, and Chamber of Commerce, all of Scott City.
She was a resident of Scott City for 60 years.
Survivors include, two daughters, Patricia Kay Howard and husband, Gerald W., Liberal, Sharon Lee Schlegel and husband Paul A., Gunnison; two grandsons, Scott Schlegel and wife, Christine, Gunnison, and Justin Howard, Lawrence; one granddaughter, Kimberly Vermillion and husband, Mark, Wichita; and three great-grandsons, Alexander J., Christian P., and Matthew R. Schlegel, all of Gunnison.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Nell Brown, Kerzie Gordon, and Laura Linscott; and three brothers, Lee, Scott, and Gordon Tribble.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at First Christian Church in Scott City with the Rev. John Warring presiding.
Burial will be at Scott County Cemetery
in Scott City.

CHRISTINA M. WURDEMAN
MEADE Christina Martha Wurdeman, 83, died Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2003, at Meade District Hospital in Meade.
She was born Feb. 27, 1919, to Barthold Henry and Pauline Metta Marie (Eckhoff) Cordes in Meade.
She married Carl Henry Wurdeman March 10, 1947, in Meade. He died Oct. 7, 1994.
She graduated from Meade High School in 1940, and received her education degree from Dodge City Community College in 1943. She taught school at Fairview Country School.
She was a homemaker, and helped her husband run Ideal Grocery Store in Meade.
She was a member of Saint John Lutheran Church, LWML, and AAL, all of Meade.
She was a former resident of Beaver, Okla.
Survivors include, one son, Jim Wurdeman, Plains; two daughters, Vicki Greenhaw, Hutchinson, and Betty Thomas, Meade; two brothers, Chester Cordes, and John Cordes, both of Meade; one sister, Opal Dirks, Overland Park; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, Arthur John Cordes.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Saint John Lutheran Church in Meade with the Rev. Lynn E. Spencer presiding.
Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery
in Meade.

KENNETH L. MOORE
SATANTA Kenneth Lee Moore, 89, died Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2003, at The Vyne Hospital in Wichita.
He was born Dec. 10, 1913, to Herburt Monroe and Hattie Bellwood (Steele) Moore in Trego County.
He married Celia Mae Groth March 21, 1942, in Deerfield. She died Jan. 13, 1997.
He married Paula (Barber) Hall June 17, 2002, in Mineola. She survives.
He served in the U.S. Airforce during World War II, and after discharge he was employed at United Producing Company. He was also a farmer.
He was a member of United Methodist Church in Satanta, Friends of the Zoo in Garden City, Finney County Historical Society in Garden City.
Other survivors include, four step-sons, John Knowles and wife, Carol, Richardson, Texas, Robert Knowles and wife, Sandra, Salida, Colo., Charles Barber and wife, Lynn, Sonora, Texas, and Jon Petty and wife, Amber, Fort Hood, Texas; three step-daughters, Ruth Horton and husband, Roy, Hugoton, Jeri Petty, and Troi Hall, both of Sublette; one sister, Bernice Dean McDaniel, Hugoton; 14 step-grandchildren; 11 step-great-grandchildren; and four step-great-great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; one step-son, Leland Knowles; two brothers, Willis Wayne Moore and Vernon Robert Moore; and two sisters, Anita Eileen Moore and Marjorie Elaine McDonald.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at United Methodist Church in Satanta with the Rev. Jeff Miller presiding.
Burial will be at Dudley Township Cemetery
in Satanta.

CARL H. WHITMER
Carl H. Whitmer, 93, of Liberal, died Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2003, at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal.
He was born June 17, 1909, to Henry and Anna (Goodman) Whitmer in Beaver County, Okla.
He married Lela R. Wares May 24, 1929, in Liberal. She died April 22, 1972.
He married Gladys L. (Hiebert) Ellis Dec. 29, 1972, in Liberal. She survives.
He attended school in Beaver.
He worked for the City of Liberal in the sanitation department, airport, Blue Bonnet Courts, and the water department. He was also Superintendent of the Street Department for many years. He retired from the city in 1974, and was the courtesy officer at First National Bank for 21 years before retiring in 1994.
He was a member of Central Christian Church and former member of Elks Lodge No. 1947, in Liberal. He was also a member of Liberal BeeJays Baseball, where he served as President of the Board for five terms. He also served on the Liberal City Commission for two terms.
Other survivors include, three daughters, Billie Carleen Naegele and husband, Nolan, Buchanan Dam, Texas, Velda Lea Pearson, Dumas, Texas, and Ruth Ann Feese and husband, Kenneth, also of Dumas; one step-son, James Ellis and wife, Ginger, Cincinnati, Ohio; two step-daughters, Juanita Bradford and husband, Melvin, Houston, Texas, Kathy Norton and husband, David, Tishamingo, Okla.; two nieces, Illa Mae Mustoe and Marge Fallwell; 18 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; two great-great-great grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; one sister; one grandson; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Central Christian Church in Liberal with the Rev. Spencer Powers presiding.
Burial will be at Liberal Cemetery
in Liberal.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. today, and from 8-11 a.m. Saturday at Miller Mortuary in Liberal. The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. today.
