KENNETH I. HOOK
Kenneth Ivan "K.I." Hook, 75, of Liberal, died Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2003, at Liberal Good Samaritan Center in Liberal.
He was born Oct. 5, 1927, to Floyd E. and Helen I. (Meyers) Hook in Tyrone, Okla.
He married Leone Barker on Nov. 21, 1946, in Clayton, N.M. She survives.
He attended school at Eureka High School in Baker, Okla.
He worked as a tool planner for Beech Aircraft for 38 years, working in Liberal 33 years, and Wichita five years. He retired in 1990.
Other survivors include, three daughters, Sherryl Kerr and husband, Ron, Tyrone, Carol Martin and husband, Gary, Parker, Colo., Sharon Jones and husband Orville, Turpin, Okla.; four brothers, George Hook, Baker, Donnie Hook, Surprise, Ariz, Charles Hook, Albuqurque, N.M., and Ausbie Hook, Enid, Okla; three sisters, Mary Lee Smith and Cordella Stalcup, both of Tyrone, and Caroline Herd, Chandler, Okla; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by his father; one son; two infant brothers; one grandson; one great-grandson; and one great-granddaughter.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Tyrone Cemetery
in Tyrone with the Rev. Rex Petty presiding.
Friends may call until 8 p.m. today, and from 8 a.m. until noon Saturday at Miller Mortuary in Liberal.
ETHEL M. BROWN
ELKHART Ethel Marie Brown, 77, died Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2003, at Morton County Hospital in Elkhart.
She was born Aug. 14, 1925, to Everett M. and Winnie (Black) Brown in Herington.
She had been a resident of Elkhart since 1976.
She was a homemaker.
Her hobbies included watching television, keeping house, and taking pictures of family.
She was a member of Elkhart Bible Baptist Church in Elkhart.
Survivors include, two brothers, Earl E. Brown and wife, Helen, Elkhart, and Theodore A. Brown, Hydro, Okla.; nieces and nephews, Gene Brown Jr. and wife, Diane, Teresa Davis and husband, Leo Alan, and Kay Lewis and husband, Randy, all of Elkhart; and numerous other nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Garnand Funeral Chapel in Elkhart with the Rev. Terrell Giddens presiding.
Burial will be at Elkhart Cemetery
in Elkhart.

KYLER D. LOEWEN
MONTEZUMA Kyler Deshawn Loewen, infant son of Cornelius and Laura Helen (Harder) Loewen Jr., died Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2003, at the Women's Center in Dodge City.
Survivors include his parents; one sister, Shonsee Danae Loewen, Montezuma; grandparents, Jacob Harder and wife, Helen, Steineach Manitoba, Canada, and Cornelius and Mary Loewen Sr., Sublette; great-grandparents, Jacoby Harder and wife, Sara, Steineach; and numerous other relatives.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Valley View Bible Church in Cimarron with the Pastor Stuart Pederson presiding.
Burial will be at Copeland Cemetery
in Copeland.

LLOYD W. STOOPS
HUGOTON Lloyd Wayne Stoops, 88, died Thursday, Jan. 30, 2003, at Fort Collins Health Care Center in Fort Collins, Colo.
He was born Nov. 5, 1914, to Marion and Lula Lee (Duckworth) Stoops in rural Stevens County.
He married Dorothy Agnes Stegman July 14, 1943, in Hugoton. She died Dec. 6, 1983.
He attended school in Hugoton.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1942 through 1945. He was awarded the Purple Heart. He also worked as a production foreman in the oil and gas industry for over 30 years.
He was a past member of Elks Lodge in Liberal, and a past member of the Liberal Country Club.
Survivors include, three sons, Roger Stoops, Albuquerque, N.M., Darrel E. Stoops and wife, Trish, Hollywood, Lloyd D. Stoops and wife, Mary, Boulder, Colo.; one brother, Ralph Stoops, California; one sister, Gladys Stoops, Twenty-nine Palms, Calif.; two grandchildren, Scott Stoops and wife, Michelle, and Ryan Stoops and wife, Nigina; and three great-grandchildren, Andrew, Alex, and Abigail Stoops.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; one sister; and three brothers.
Funeral mass will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Helen's Catholic Church in Hugoton with the Father Michael McAndrew presiding.
Burial will be at Hugoton Cemetery
in Hugoton with military graveside rites by the Fort Riley Honor Guard.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. Friday at Garnand Funeral Home in Hugoton.

BILLIE L. VICKERY- PORTERFIELD
GARDEN CITY Billie L. Vickery-Porterfield, 72, died Friday, Jan. 31, 2003, at Collingsworth General Hospital in Wellington, Texas.
She was born March 14, 1930, to William and Reva (Hamm) Hawkins in Big Spring, Texas.
She married T.J. Vickery June 14, 1947, in Pampa, Texas. He died April 15, 1987.
She married Bill Porterfield Dec. 1, 1990, in New Mexico. He survives.
She was co-owner and operator of Bruce Well Service in Liberal until 1987.
She was a member of Order of Eastern Star and First Baptist Church, both in Pampa.
Her hobbies included reading, cooking, traveling, and spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include, two daughters, Linda Howe-Chenault, West Palm Beach, Fla., and Jodie Forsyth, Wichita; one brother, James E. Hawkins, Pampa; one sister, Robbie Lynch, Alvord, Texas; four grandchildren, Scott White, Heath Howe, Heather Howe, Brooke Krause; and one great-grandchild, Sophie Howe.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; and one sister, Coleta Bretthauer.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at First Southern Baptist Church in Liberal with the Rev. Keith Bryant presiding.
Burial will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Memory Gardens in Pampa.
Friends may call until 9 p.m. today, with family present from 6-8 p.m. at Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home in Liberal.

MARK MYERS
AUGUSTA, Ga. Mark Myers, 49, died Saturday, Feb. 1, 2003, at his home in Augusta.
He grew up in the Oklahoma panhandle.
He attended college and graduate school in Texas, where he received degrees in in music.
He was a classical tenor who sang a number of roles in regional opera in both the United States and Europe.
He was a member of the adult choir at Church of the Good Sheperd, The Augusta Choral Society, and Augusta State University Opera Theatre.
Survivors include, his wife, Patti Abasolo Myers; one daughter, Arwen Elizabeth Myers, Augusta; one brother, Neill Ernest Myers, Beaver, Okla.; two sisters, Glenda Kaye Sipes, Manter, Patricia Ann Bowling, Temple, Texas; numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at Church of the Good Sheperd in Augusta with the Rev. Robert Fain, Dr. Andrew Menger, and the Rev. Steph Britt presiding.

ROBERT W. CULWELL
LINCOLN, Neb. Robert W. "Bob" Culwell, 72, died Friday, Jan. 31, 2003, in Lincoln.
He was born Aug. 28, 1931, to William Wayne and Helen (Campbell) Culwell in Ainsworth, Neb.
He was a retired electrical engineer at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal.
He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Kansas Hospital Engineers Association, Junior Chamber of Commerce, American Legion Post No. 3, Elk's Lodge, and POW during the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife, Donna Culwell, Lincoln; one son, Rick Culwell and wife, Shirley, Lincoln; two daughters, Michele Schulze and husband, Warner, Alliance, Neb., and Julie Culwell-Gates, Woodland Park, Colo.; grandchildren, Chris, Nick and Theresa Schulze, and Jeremy Gates; step-grandchildren, Jason and David Codr, and Kim Stockman; great-granddaughter, Kaitlyn Schulze; step-great-granddaughter, Madison Stock.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother.
Rosary was at 4 p.m. Sunday at Roper & Sons Chapel at 4300 'O' Street in Lincoln.
Mass was at 3 p.m. today at St. Joseph's Catholic Church at 1940 S. 77th in Lincoln.

HARLO EMRIE JR.
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. Harlo Emrie Jr., 84, died Sunday, Feb. 2, 2003, at Manor Care Nursing Home in Springfield.
He was born Nov. 7, 1918, to Harlo and Alta P. (Yoder) Emrie in Liberal.
He married La Vera Audrey Vaughn May 6, 1944, in Rolla, Mo. She survives.
He graduated from Liberal High School.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, and had a long career in sales, including national salesman of the year for selling life insurance.
He was a member of Brentwood Christian Church, Sons of the American Revolution, Elks Lodge, Soloman's Masonic Lodge, York Rite, Abou Ben Adhem Temple, all in Springfield.
Other survivors include, two sons, Steve Emrie, Manchester, Mo., and Dan Emrie, Springfield; one daughter, Trish Hilton, Springfield; one sister, Lois Morrissey and husband, Bob, Liberal; and eight grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, David; two brothers, Laurence and Chester Emrie; one sister, Helen Wooten.
Funeral services will be at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at Gorman Scharpf Funeral Home in Springfield.
Burial will be at Missouri Veteran's Cemetery.
