Linda S. Eby
PLYMOUTH -- Linda S. Eby, 68, of 10268 Parklane, Plymouth passed away Sunday, June 12,
2011 at 5:55 p.m. unexpectedly at Life Care Center Rochester.
She was born the daughter of Ralph Schaal and Cora Fern Kanarr Schaal Nov. 18, 1942, in
Plymouth. She married
Jerry Eby Dec. 29, 1963.
She is survived by her husband, Jerry; and children, Lisa (John) Eastes of Reelsville, Patrick
(Ruth) Eby of Marion, Patricia (Ron) Voyles of Indianapolis, and William (Judith de Jong) Eby.
She was also blessed with nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a sister, Phyllis (Dale)
Reaker of Plymouth; and two brothers, Gale Schaal and Donald (Gertrude) Schaal, both of
South Bend.
She was preceded in death only by her parents and a brother, Ralph Schaal.
She had been a resident of the Plymouth area most all her life. She was a homemaker and had
been employed as a QMA at Miller’s Merry Manor Nursing Home and at the Plymouth truck top
as a custodian. She was a member of the Plymouth Wesleyan Church, a graduate of West High
School class of 1961. She was a veteran of the United States Army serving in 1961-62. She
enjoyed her grandchildren as one of her greatest hobbies.
There will be a time of visitation with the family Wednesday, June 15 from 5 to 8 p.m. in the
Deaton-Clemens Funeral Home, 115 S. Main St., Bourbon.
A funeral service will be Thursday, June 16, 2011 at 2 p.m. in the funeral home with her son,
Rev. Dr. Patrick Eby officiating.
Burial will follow in the Bethel cemetery, Bourbon.
The family requests memorial contributions are made in her memory to a charity of your choice.

LaVerna Ewing
KNOX -- LaVerna Ewing, 88, passed away Sunday, June 12, 2011 in Miller’s Merry Manor,
Culver.
She was born March 31, 1923 in Kokomo to Ray and Ina (Jordan) Myers. Dec. 18, 1941 in
Mishawaka she was married
to Carroll Ewing, who preceded her in death. She was also
preceded in death by her parents, one brother, and one sister.
Survivors include one daughter, Cathy Benko of Knox; three sons, Gerald Ewing of Oak Grove,
Richard (Dolly) Ewing of Culver, and Jeff (Renee) Ewing of Argos; nine grandchildren and eight
great-grandchildren.
She owned and operated C&L Food Center in Oak Grove with her late husband for 52 years.
She was a member of Eagle Creek Church in Knox, the Knox VFW Auxiliary and the
Washington Township Fire Department Auxiliary. She was also a previous member of many
civic organizations.
A memorial service will be Friday at 11 a.m. CDT at Rannells Funeral Home, Hamlet Chapel with
Rev. Ed Hasnerl officiating. Cremation has taken place and burial will follow at Oak Hill
cemetery, Plymouth.
Friends may visit with the family Friday from 9 a.m. until the time of services.
Jeanette Mary (McBride) Irwin
WOODSTOCK, Ill. -- Jeanette Mary (McBride) Irwin, 92, died June 12, at Hearthstone
Communities Nursing facility where she received very compassionate and loving care by the
nursing and hospice staff.
She was born July 23, 1918 in Burlington, Ill. to Ralph R. and Ada E. (Chapman) McBride.
Aug. 10, 1941 she was married
to Harold R. Irwin of Culver, at Hampton, Va. He was stationed
at Langley Field in the U.S. Army Air Corps.
Jeanette was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Woodstock, Ill. since 1947. She
was a member of the Moonlighters Circle, the Vespertines Circle, and the Lunch Bunch of the
Church. She delivered Meals on Wheels for 30 years.
She was a long time member of the Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post 5040.
She and Harold enjoyed camping and traveling and were charter members of the Woodstock
Woodchucks Camping Club for 46 years.
She is survived by her husband; daughter, Nancy of Woodstock, Ill.; daughter-in-law Joye Irwin
of Kaleheo, Hawaii; and grandchildren, Lisa (Ken) Ardanowski of Plano, Texas, and Scott Irwin
of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa; and nieces Jean (Robert) Warfel, Burlington, Ill., Connie Parker, Muroc,
Calif., Maryann Rinard, Plano, Texas, Susan (Tom) Monaghan, McKinney, Texas, Rhonda
Rinard, Pasadena, Calif.; several cousins, great nieces and nephews; and a long time friend,
Margaret Paff, Goshen.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Richard M. Irwin; her sister, Florence
Neville; her brother, Clifford McBride; an infant brother; her nephew, John McBride; and great nephew,
Ben Warfel.
Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m., Thursday, June 16, 2011 at the Schneider Leucht Merwin & Cooney
Funeral Home, 1211 N. Seminary Ave., Woodstock, Ill. The visitation will continue at the First
United Methodist Church Friday, June 17, 2011 from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral service.
Rev. Duk K. Kwon will officiate. Interment will follow in the Oakland cemetery in Woodstock.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church, Hospice of
Northeastern Illinois, Hearthstone Communities, or a charity of your choice.

James C. Ramsey
ROCHESTER -- James C. Ramsey, 78, of 1394 S. 575 E. Rochester, died at 3:50 p.m.,
Sunday, June 12, 2011 at his residence.
He is survived by daughters, Ardella (Charles) Slavens of Chalmers, Carolyn (Gary) Gray of
Rochester, Connie Joann Rutherford of Rochester, and Kathryn 'Katie' (Kenny) Campbell of
Akron; three sons, Donald (Beth) Ramsey of Rochester, Bill (Sherrie) Ramsey of Akron, and
Jimmy (Dawn) Ramsey of Bronson, Mich.; brothers, John Ramsey of Akron, and Charles 'Chuck'
Ramsey of Akron; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren
Private family services will be held. Good Family Funeral Home has been entrusted with the
services.
Audrey L. Mattocks
WALKERTON -- Audrey L. Mattocks, 88, died Monday, June 13, 2011 in the Center for Hospice
Care, Elkhart.
Survivors include her children, Thomas (Trudy) Mattocks of Franklin, Wis., Cheryl Hughes of
Walkerton, and Steven (Hannah) Mattocks of California; four grandchildren and two great
grandchildren; and sisters, Madeline Aldrich of LaPorte and Juanita (Bill) Bouse of Walkerton.
A graveside service will be held at a later date. Cremation will take place. Memorial
contributions may be given to The Center for Hospice & Palliative Care, 111 Sunnybrook Court,
South Bend, IN 46637. Rannells Funeral Home, Koontz Lake Chapel is handling arrangements.
Howard F. Grove
NAPPANEE -- Howard F. Grove, 94, of Nappanee, formerly of Bremen, died Tuesday, June 14,
2011 at LuAnn Nursing Home, Nappanee.
Survivors include daughters, Myrna Grove of Elkhart, and Elaine (Carl) Rhodes of Middlebury;
son, Bruce (Pam) Grove of Monticello; three granddaughters; and one great-grandson.
Funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, June 17, 2011 at the Mishler Funeral Home,
Bremen.
Visitation is from 4 p.m. Friday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association.
The Mishler Funeral Home in Bremen is assisting the family with arrangements.
Shirley Hiatt
ROCHESTER -- Shirley Hiatt, 74, of 3361 N. 200 W. Rochester, died at 6 a.m., Tuesday, June
14, 2011 at Woodlawn Hospital.
She is survived by her husband, Pat; daughters, Cathlene (David) Strong of Cusco, Peru, South
America, and Bev Hiatt of Huntington; son, David (Catherine) Hiatt of Rochester; four
grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sisters, Martha 'Marti' Schwenk of Rochester, Jan (Lynn)
Mishler of Leiters Ford, and Donna Brucker of Muskegon, Mich.; and brother, John (Margaret)
Raub of Indianapolis.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, June 18, in the Sunrise Chapel, 11802 Lincoln Hwy.,
Plymouth.
Visitation is from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday in the Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 W. 18th St.,
Rochester, and one hour prior to the service in the church. Interment will be in the Rochester
IOOF cemetery.
Ruby Kaiser
WALKERTON -- Ruby Kaiser, 82, of West 1st Road, Walkerton, died after a long and
courageous battle, at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 14, 2011, in her residence.
Born in Teegarden July 2, 1928, Ruby was born the daughter of Nelson and Gertrude Harley
Baughman. She graduated from Tyner High School with the class of 1946.
Nov. 2, 1946, in Mishawaka, Ruby Baughman and Robert Kaiser were married
; Bob preceded
her in death June 21, 2004.
Ruby loved being a farmer’s wife and a homemaker. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, playing
cards, and most of all, being with her family. She loved her little dog, Terry too.
She was a skilled musician playing both piano and the organ. Ruby was very dedicated to her
church and could be found at many church activities and hosting many social functions for the
church.
She was a member of the Shalom Fellowship Church.
She is survived by a daughter and two sons. Her daughter is Sharon and Randy Klingerman, of
South Bend. Her sons are Dennis and Pamela Kaiser, of Walkerton, and David and Patricia
Kaiser, of Grant Park, Ill.
Five grandsons also survive. They are: David Malstaff, Walkerton; Dennis Kaiser Jr., North
Liberty; Jeff Kaiser, North Liberty; Jason Kaiser, Indianapolis; and Kevin Kaiser, South Bend.
Three granddaughters, Robyn and Jamie Klingerman, South Bend, and Erica Baca, Plymouth,
survive as well, together with six great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
She is also survived by four sisters Velma Mangus, Opal Kranitz, Marian Bralick and Shirley
Lichtenbarger.
Ruby was preceded in death by her husband, parents, a brother Harley Baughman and a sister
Elaine Haycraft.
Friends will be welcomed by the family at the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N.
Michigan St., Plymouth, Friday, June 17, 2011, from 4 to 8 p.m.
Funeral services for Ruby will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 18, 2011, in the funeral home.
The Rev. James Gilmer, pastor of Shalom Fellowship Church will officiate.
Interment will be in the Morris Park cemetery, LaPaz.
Memorial contributions may be made to the church or a charity of the donor’s choice.

Melitta Anna Chandonia-Scarberry
DONALDSON -- Melitta Anna Chandonia-Scarberry, 70, died of natural causes at her
residence, Union Road, Donaldson, at 9 a.m. Friday, June 17, 2011.
She is survived by daughter, Heidi (Mike) Reece of Culver; sons, Fredrich Chandonia of
Donaldson, and David Scarberry of Plymouth; three stepchildren, Loretta (Art) Cook of Koontz
Lake, Derrick (Brandi) Scarberry of Plymouth, and Jeffrey (Patty) Scarberry of South Bend; 30
grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and sister, Hildegard (Mac) McDonald of Warland, Wyo.
Arrangements are being handled by the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan
St., Plymouth.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 23 in Bremen cemetery.
Donald "Casey" T. Jones
PLYMOUTH -- Donald ‘Casey’ T. Jones, 83, of 10251 Nutmeg Road, Plymouth, passed away at
11:19 a.m., Friday, June 17, 2011, at Our Lady of Peace Hospital, in Mishawaka.
Donald Jones was born March 8, 1928, in Plymouth, to Aaron and Helen (Taber) Jones. Casey
graduated from Plymouth High School in the class of 1946. He entered the United States Navy
to serve his country during WWII. A member of the VFW Post #1162, he served as the post’s
senior commander from 1981-1982. Pat Rockaway and Casey Jones were united in marriage
May 1, 1998, at Casey’s home in Plymouth. Casey owned Central Transfer Company, in
Plymouth, invested in several Kentucky Fried Chicken franchises, owned several video stores,
Casey’s Bar, a carnival, and enjoyed dealing in antiques. Casey was a people person. He loved
talking, sharing stories, and sharing 'Plymouth memories, ' with his many friends, while making
new friends along the way. He was always friendly, outgoing, and was loved by all.
Casey is survived by his loving wife, Pat Jones; his daughters, Janet Ahern of Sunrise City, Ariz.,
and Patricia Moberly of Plymouth; his sons, Donald (Roseann) Jones of Guam, and James
Jones of Leesburg; his extended family, Elizabeth (Paul) Boger of Carmel, and Peter
(Georgianna) Rockaway of Green Bay, Wis.; his sister, Rosemary Listenberger of Plymouth; his
brothers, Bob Jones of Plymouth, and Larry Jones of Indianapolis; and his grandchildren,
Rebecca Moberly, Anna Jones, Adam Ahern, Matthew Ahern, Joshua Ahern, William Boger,
Matthew Boger, Stephen Boger, and Ariana Rebic. Preceding him in death were his parents; his
stepfather, Clayton Bare; his son-in-law, Robert Moberly; his brother-in-law, Robert Listenberger;
and his sister-in-law, Sally Jones.
