Iris L. Zink
LaPORTE -- Iris L. Zink, 96, of LaPorte, died at 8 a.m. Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at Brentwood
Assisted Living.
She was born July 7, 1914 in Walkerton to Oliver and Fern (Bennett) Cripe.
Aug. 12, 1933 in Kokomo she married
Audra B. Zink who preceded her in death Jan. 19, 1991.
She was a member of Salem Chapel United Methodist Church.
She was also head bank teller and cashier for 25 years at 1st Source Bank in Plymouth. She
was formerly active in church organizations at Salem Chapel United Methodist Church. She was
also a member of Kitchen Kin Extension Homemakers Club.
She leaves behind a daughter, Beverly (Donn) Kelver of LaPorte; a son, Gene (Lillian) Zink of
McIntosh, N.M.; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and four great-greatgrandchildren.
She is preceded by her parents; husband; and a sister, Audrey Patterson.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, April 30, 2011 at 10 a.m. at Essling Funeral Home, with
Pastor Dee Miller officiating.
Visitation will be held Friday, April 29, 2011 from 4 to 7 p.m. and Saturday, April 30, 2011 from 9
to 10 a.m. at Essling Funeral Home.
Private family burial will be in Oakhill cemetery, Plymouth.
Memorial contributions may be made to Brentwood (LaPorte) Memory Care Unit, 2002 Andrew
Avenue, LaPorte, IN, 46350.

Paul Kinney
SOUTH BEND -- Paul Kinney, 85, of South Bend, formerly of Plymouth, died April 28, 2011 at
Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Kinney; and a son, Steven (Ingrid) Kinney of Bakersfield, Calif.
Services will take place at 3 p.m. Friday, May 6 at New Oakhill Chapel, Plymouth.
Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, Plymouth, is assisting the family with arrangements.
Gerald Darwin Kuhn
SEBRING, Fla. -- Gerald Darwin Kuhn, 80, went home to be with God Thursday, April 28, 2011.
He died at the Highlands Regional Medical Center in Sebring, Fla.
He was born to Elmer and Hester Grosvenor Kuhn April 15, 1931, in Bourbon, Ind. He married
Maxine Barker in Gainesville, Fla., Oct. 6, 1962.
Frances P. Bowersox
DUNEDIN, Fla. -- Frances P. Bowersox, 98, formerly of Leiters Ford and Dunedin, Fla. died at
12:05 a.m. Friday, April 29, 2011 at Miller’s Merry Manor.
She is survived by sons, John (Ruth) Bowersox of Dunedin, Fla. and Thomas (Diane) Bowersox
of South Bend; three grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren;
sisters: Bernice Hartz, Martha Glintzer, and Dorothy Talbot.
Visitation will take place from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 4 at Good Family Funeral Home,
1200 W. 18th St., Rochester.
Funeral services will take place 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Burial will follow at the Leiters Ford cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Leiters Ford United Methodist Church.

WINONA LAKE -- E. Lunetta Metcalf, 97, of Winona Lake, formerly of North Webster, died at
4:14 a.m. Friday, April 29, 2011 at Grace Village Retirement in Winona Lake.
She is survived by a son, Philip (Karilyn) Metcalf of North Webster; six grandchildren; nine great grandchildren;
nine great-grandchildren; seven step great-grandchildren; and a sister, Edythe
Gordon of Fort Wayne.
Visitation will take place from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, May 2 at Owen Family Funeral
Home, S.R. 13 and 500 N, North Webster.
Funeral services will take place at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 3, at the First Baptist Church of
Oswego, 2985 E. Church St. Warsaw (Oswego), with Pastor Gary Colby, former minister of the
church officiating.
Burial will follow in the Oak Grove cemetery in North Webster.

Robert E. Soales
BREMEN -- Robert E. Soales, 81, of Bremen, died April 29, 2011.
He is survived by his daughters, Donna (Doug) Costas of Las Vegas, Nev., and Jane (Leroy)
Reeder of Edwardsburg, Mich.; a son, Keith (Gloria) Soales, LaPorte; four grandchildren; 13
great-grandchildren; a brother, Don (Carol) Soales, Edwardsburg, Mich.; and a sister, Alta (Al)
Molebash of Nappanee.
Visitation will take place from 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 3 at Mishler Funeral Home, Bremen.
Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 4 at the Bremen United Methodist
Church.
Burial will follow at the Bremen cemetery.

Jack Gimmett
BEAVER DAM, Ky. -- Jack Grimmett, 84, of Beaver Dam, Ky. died Saturday April 30, 2011 at
his home.
He was born in Crichton, W.V. Oct. 8, 1926, to the late Everet Guy and Elisabeth Wheeler
Grimmett. He was a truck driver for Gary Transfer, served in the U.S. Navy during WWII,
received a Purple Heart when his ship the USS Bush sank, was a member of the DAV,
American Legion Post, and also enjoyed fishing and yard work.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Shirley Evans Grimmett; two sons, Guy Raymond
Grimmett of Lewisburg, Ky. and Mark Randall (Karen) Grimmett of Plymouth, Ind.; a sister,
Carolyn Henson of Beaver Dam, Ky.; four grandchildren: Danny, Keely, Trevor and Seth; also
several nieces and nephews.
Services are at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 3 at Bevil Bros. Funeral Home in Beaver Dam with Bro.
Roy Loney officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 to 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Military
honors will be presented by the Wesley Phelps Honor Guard.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to Ohio County
Hospice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
Mattie Schumucker
NAPPANEE -- Mattie Schmucker, 88, of LuAnn Nursing Home, Nappanee, died at 7:05 p.m.,
Friday, April 30, 2011 at Elkhart General Hospital.
She is survived by sons: Robert (Freida) Schmucker of Milford, Harley W. (Linda) Schmucker of
Anderson, Jerry L. (Sarah E.) Schmucker of Nappanee, and Marvin R. (Cathy) Schmucker of
Peru; daughters, Joan (Mervin J.) Weaver and Rosetta (Devon) Troyer, both of Nappanee; 41
grandchildren; and 91 great-grandchildren.
Visitation took place Saturday, April 30 at Jerry Schmucker’s residence, 6044 W 1350 N.
Funeral services took place at 9:30 a.m. Monday, May 2 at the Schmucker’s.
Burial followed in West Union cemetery.

DONALDSON -- Sister Clarence Caspermeyer, PHJC, 80, of Donaldson, died May 1, 2011 at
Catherine Kasper Home, Donaldson.
Visitation will take place at 4:30 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, May 3 at Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home,
1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth.
Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Catherine Kasper Home, Donaldson.
Burial will follow at Mount Carmel cemetery, Donaldson.
Brian M. Shutske
KOUTS -- Brian M. Shutske, 46, of Kouts, passed away Sunday, May 1, 2011 at home. He was
born Aug. 2, 1964 in Valparaiso to Gerald M. and Doris Mary (Siddall) Shutske.
Brian graduated from Kouts High School, attended Purdue University and graduated from the
Automotive Mechanic program at Ivy Tech. He owned and operated Shutske’s Service Station in
Kouts for seven years and had worked the last 17 years as a machine operator at Merit Steel.
Brian was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Kouts where he was active in the St.
Mary’s Men’s Group, music ministry and St. Mary’s cemetery Association. He enjoyed playing
guitar, was a former member of the Kouts Volunteer Fire Department, a Cubs fan, and enjoyed
fishing, camping and hunting.
May 5, 1990 at St. Helen’s Catholic Church in Hebron he married
Tammy Marietta, who
survives, along with four children: Becky, Matt, Rachel and Jason. Also surviving are one sister,
Linda (John) McNeil of Plymouth; two brothers, Larry (Susan) Shutske of Olympia, Wash. and
Jeff (Jane) Shutske of Crown Point.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A funeral mass will be held Thursday, May 5 at 10 a.m. (CDT) directly at St. Mary’s Catholic
Church, the Rev. Thomas Tibbs and the Rev. Derrick Dudash concelebrating.
Burial will follow at St. Mary’s cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 2 to 8 p.m. (CDT) at
Kosanke Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Brian Shutske Benefit Fund at First
Source Bank.
Gerald, Jr. Feece
LEITERS FORD -- Gerald 'Junior' Feece, Jr., 82, of Rochester, formerly of Leiters Ford, died
at 3:40 p.m., Monday, May 2, 2011, at Life Care Center of Rochester.
He is survived by a son, Gary W. (Anna Rose) Feece of Washington, and two granddaughters.
Visitation will take place from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, May 5 and one hour prior to services Friday
at Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 W. 18th St. Rochester
Funeral services will take place at 10 a.m. Friday, May 6 at the funeral home.
Burial will follow at Leiters Ford IOOF cemetery with military rites.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Aubbeenaubee Township Fire Department.
Dalton A. "Dalt" Fehrer
PLYMOUTH -- Dalton A. 'Dalt' Fehrer, 80, passed away in the company of his family at 12:40
p.m. in the Miller’s Merry Manor, Wakarusa, Ind. after a long battle with duodenal cancer. Dalt
has been a resident of Lawrence Lake, Plymouth for the past 44 years.
Born in Beaver Dam, Wis. May 7, 1930, he was the son of Alfred L. and Lilly M. (Raasch)
Fehrer. There he received his education and then studied at the University of Wisconsin,
Madison.
He then entered the United States Navy Nov. 8, 1948 and served for four years in Korea as a
Radarman Second Class and was honorably discharged Oct. 30, 1952. Dalt served on the USS
Roanoke – Destroyer.
Sept. 19, 1953 in Madison, Wis. he took for his bride the former Dorothy C. Schanen. She
preceded him in death Dec. 11, 2006.
Dalt worked in sales for Simplicity Manufacturing in Port Washington, Wis. and then retired after
a number of years with Summit Power of Ft. Wayne, Ind. Following his retirement he then
worked as a receiver for Marshall County Bank & Trust Co. and as a greens keeper at Sprig-OMint
and Swan Lake Golf courses.
He loved gardening and making wine. Gardening included starting many plants from seed. One
of his biggest undertakings was his four-acre asparagus field and he loved every minute of it
working with many area grocers and families who looked forward to his spring harvest.
During the ‘40s and ‘50s, Dalt played tenor sax and clarinet in a jazz band. He was a former
member of the Plymouth American Legion Post #27 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Marshall
County Post #1162.
Dalt is survived by four of his and Dorothy’s five children. They are: Sherry A. and Gary Watkins
of Newark, Del. and their children: Michael, Adam, Christopher and Elizabeth; Mary Pat and Jay
Jubina Jr. of Morris, Ill. and their children: Tanya, E.J., and Evan; Kris M. and Doug Pedler of
Wakarusa, Ind. and their children: Cassidy, Katelyn and Jeffrey; David S. and Carol Fehrer of
Plymouth and daughter, Nikki Rumpler.
Son Dalton A. 'Skip' Fehrer Jr. preceded him in death but is survived by his sons: Nicholas,
Timothy and Samuel. Seven great-grandchildren complete Dalt’s family.
Visitation will be held Thursday, May 5, 2011 from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral
Home, 1100 N. Michigan St. Plymouth, Ind. where services will begin at 7 p.m. The Rev. Charles
Krieg will preside.
Burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday, May 6 in the St. Michael cemetery with full military honors
provided by members of the American Legion Post #27, VFW, DAV, and South Bend Honor
Guard located at the corner of W. Harrison St. and Oak Drive in Plymouth.
Preferred are memorial gifts to the Marshall County Council on Aging – Transportation and
Meals on Wheels Programs, 1305 W. Harrison St., Plymouth, IN, 46563.
