Todd E. Johnson
CULVER -- Todd E. Johnson, 47, of State Road 10, Culver, passed away Saturday, April 9,
2011, at 3:52 a.m. at Saint Joseph Hospital in Fort Wayne.
He was born June 30, 1963, in Plymouth, to Samuel and Alice (Ottow) Johnson. He graduated
from Plymouth High School in the Class of 1981. He worked for Beldon Interiors, as a tile setter.
Todd, and his brother Robbin, enjoyed playing in golf leagues. He loved working and tinkering on
cars. His mind was always filled with new creative ideas. He would work on his ideas, turning
many of them into his new creations.
Todd is survived by his mother, Alice Johnson of Plymouth; his sister, Renea (Terry) Beldon of
Plymouth; his brother, Robbin Johnson of Culver; and his nephews; Arron Beldon, Christopher
(Ashley) Beldon, and Bryan Beldon.
Todd was preceded in death by his father, Samuel Johnson Nov. 9, 2010.

Martha Plank Kuhns
BREMEN -- Martha Plank Kuhns, 71, of Bremen, died at 8:55 p.m., Saturday, April 9, 2011, at
St. Joseph Regional Medical Center after a sudden illness.
She is survived by her husband, Roman; sons: Ivan Ray (Norma) Kuhns and LaMar R. (Lorene)
Kuhns, both of Bremen, Levi Jay (Mary), Kuhns of Shipshewana, and Homer R. (Clara) Kuhns of
Arcola, Ill.; daughters: Rosetta Kuhns of Bremen, Lorene (Darrell) Borkholder and Carol (Paul)
Graber, both of Nappanee, Esther (Devon) Schwartz of Etna Green, and Freida (Keith) Abbott of
Sheridan, Ill.; 41 grandchildren; brothers: Lonnie (Verna) Plank, Ivan (Clara Mae) Plank, and
Orie (Barbara) Plank, all of Arthur, Ill., Norman (Emma Mae) Plank of Arcola, Ill., and Jerry Plank
of Westmoreland, Tenn.; and sisters: Mary Ann (Joseph) Bontrager of Centerville, Mich., Lucy
Stutzman of Sullivan, Ill., and Vera (Andy) Jess of Arthur, Ill. S
Visitation will take place from 2 p.m. Monday, April 11 and all day Tuesday at the Ronnie Miller
residence, 1184 3rd Road, Bremen.
Funeral services will take place at 9:30 a.m., Wednesday, April 13 at the Miller residence.
Burial will follow in Weldy cemetery.

Christina M. Rotering
GROVERTOWN -- Christina M. Rotering, 17, passed away at 3 a.m. Saturday, April 9, 2011 in
her home, following a courageous four-year battle with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.
Christina was born June 23, 1993 in Plymouth, Ind. To Theodore and Amy (Lohse) Rotering.
She lived in the area all of her life and was a Junior at Oregon-Davis High School.
Christina was the manager of the O-D Girls Basketball Team, a member of the National Honor
Society, the O-D Student Council, the Girl Scouts, Relay for Life and VIBE of the Koontz Lake
Missionary Church. She was the 2010-2011 Homecoming Princess, was a WKVI Athlete of the
Week and inspired the entire school and community with her courageous battle with Lymphoma
and her rally call, 'Fight Like a Girl.'
Christina is survived by her parents, Amy and Ted of Grovertown; one brother, Aron Rotering of
Grovertown; grandparents, Debra Bixel of Plymouth and Dave Lohse of Plymouth; her great grandfather,
Ralph Lamborn of Plymouth; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and countless
friends.
She was preceded in death by grandparents, Floyd and Eileen Rotering; great-grandmother,
Doris Lamborn; and one uncle, David Rotering.
Funeral Mass will be Wednesday, April 13 at 10 a.m. (Central Time) at Oregon-Davis High
School with Rev. Father Anthony Spanley officiating.
Burial will be at the Holy Cross cemetery, Hamlet.
Friends may call Tuesday, April 12 from 3 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday one hour prior to the
service at Oregon-Davis High School, Hamlet.
In lieu of flowers, the family wishes memorial contributions be made to the family or one of the

Leah R. Brubaker
NORTH MANCHESTER -- Leah R. Brubaker, 96, of Timbercrest Retirement Community in
North Manchester, Ind., died at 6:35 p.m. Sunday, April 10, 2011 at Timbercrest Healthcare
Center.
She was born Dec. 2, 1914 in Anklesvar, India to Adam and Alice (King) Ebey.
Leah was a graduate of Woodstock High School in Mussoorie, India. She received her
bachelor’s degree from Manchester College and her master’s degree from Indiana University.
She married
Rev. Wesley H. Brubaker Dec. 31, 1938 in North Manchester. He died July 11,
2003. She was a retired special education teacher. She was a member of the Baptist Church in
Dowagiac, Mich. And the Indiana Retired Teachers Association. She was an avid reader and
was also involved in church activities, especially Bible studies. Leah lived at Timbercrest since
September of 1997, coming from Decatur, Mich.
She is survived by her six children: Dr. Susan (Dr. William) Weybright of Goshen, Ind., Paul
(Barbara) Brubaker of Westville, Ind., Sarah (Kenneth) Naillieux of Greencastle, Ind., James
(Norma) Brubaker of Wingo, Ky., Dr. Thomas (Kathleen) Brubaker of Decatur, Mich., and Rosa
(Arthur) Nelson of Westville, Ind.; 13 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister and a grandson.
Memorial services will be held at Timbercrest Chapel, 2201 East St., North Manchester,
Wednesday, April 13, 2011 at 2:30 p.m. with Rev. Olden Mitchell & Rev. Opal Nees officiating.
Private family burial will be in Pleasant Hill cemetery, North Manchester.
Preferred are memorial is to Timbercrest Retirement Community.
Arrangements were handled by Grandstaff-Hentgen Bender Chapel, North Manchester.
Betty J. Banks
CULVER -- Betty J. Banks, 78, of Culver, died at 2:50 p.m. Monday, April 11, 2011 in Culver.
She is survived by a son, Jimmy (Beverly) Banks; daughter, Brenda (Tommy) Gravely; sister,
Polly (Robert) Dukes; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
Visitation will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, April 15 at Odom Funeral Home, Culver.
Funeral services will take place at 3 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Burial will follow at Leiters Ford IOOF cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
Kenneth L. Luse
PLYMOUTH -- Kenneth L. Luse, 80, a lifetime Plymouth resident, passed away in the company
of his family following an extended illness. Ken resided with his loving wife Mary of 61 years, on
Redbud Drive.
Ken had many friends and was a regular at the McDonald’s morning coffee club. Ken’s comic
nature never knew a stranger as he sought humor in everyday life. Most importantly he was a
devoted Christian and family man who was 'always there' for them and the needs of others.
He was born the son of Ernest LeRoy and Julia Ann (Sorters) Luse on July 1, 1930 in Plymouth.
He received his education in Plymouth schools.
In 1947 he began a courtship with Mary Ann Miller of Plymouth and the two were married
on
June 11, 1949 in the Argos Methodist Church. Together they would attend Plymouth Wesleyan
Church of over 50 years.
As a patriot, he served his country in the National Guard from 1948 – 1950 and was proud to
have had three grandsons also serve in the military, two of which served in Iraq.
Ken worked 42 years driving truck for Drummy Cartage of South Bend, Plymouth Homes,
Hawaiian Punch and Young Door also of Plymouth. He was a Teamsters Retiree since 1994.
In 1989 his love of the road and appreciation for old trucks and tractors led him to membership in
Hoosiers Old Wheels where he could share his restored award winning 1964 Blue Econoline
Ford truck often taking part in the Marshall County Blueberry Festival.
Surviving with his wife Mary are their three children; Carol Lynette (Neal) Blair of Indio, Calif.,
Ruth Elaine (Gale) Paschke of Springfield, Tenn. And Robert Eugene (Paula) Luse of Surprise,
Ariz. Seven grandchildren include: Bart Paschke, Becky Candies, Todd Blair, Brad Blair, Wendy
Wolfe, Eric Luse and Chad Luse along with 11 great grandchildren: Chase Daniels, Emma Blair,
August Blair, Madysen Blair, Kenneth Blair, Jackson Blair, Austin Wolfe, Brenna Wolfe, Clayton
Wolfe, Emily Luse and Walker Luse.
Ken and Mary have been great supporters of their grandchildren’s many activities in the OregonDavis
school system.
Two sisters; Jean Michalski and Patricia Sporner of Plymouth and a brother; Wayne (Viola) Luse
of Monon also survive with numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters; Della Drake and Agnes Dixon and a
brother; Dale Luse.
Visitation will be held on Friday, April 15, 2011 from 3 to 8 p.m. in the Johnson-Danielson
Funeral Home 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 16 in the Plymouth Wesleyan Church,
11203 S. Michigan Road, Plymouth where visitation will continues after 10 a.m. Revs Ed Friberg
and John Branch will officiate.
Burial will follow in the New Oakhill cemetery, Plymouth.

Barry F. Wiscons
PLYMOUTH -- Barry F. Wiscons, age 64, of 2401 N. Michigan Street #37, Plymouth, passed
away at 7:28 a.m., Monday, April 11, 2011, at his home.
Barry was born April 16, 1946, in Chicago, Ill., to Frank H. Wiscons and Louise (Nardiello)
Wiscons. He was the second child, and the first son born, of six children. Barry was retired, from
the Holiday Inn in Plymouth, as manager, after 25 years of service. He loved nature, animals,
enjoyed taking walks in the park, and handing out treats to his 'grand-pets.'
Barry also was an avid reader and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, family, and
friends. He had a life long love of baseball. His beloved 'Grand-Dog' was laid to rest, just one
month ago. Barry was a member of Saint Michael Catholic Church.
Barry is survived by his children, Margaret (Wiscons) Oldham and her husband Mackey of
Indianapolis, Brett Wiscons and his companion Jennifer Diamond of Indianapolis, Gina Wiscons
of Peru, Vince Wiscons and his wife Casey of Indianapolis; Barry’s former wife and friend,
Barbara Wiscons of Plymouth; his grandchildren: Madilynn, Mia, and Max; his mother, Louise
(Nardiello) Wiscons; his brothers: Bryon (Sandy) Wiscons, Bradley (Brenda) Wiscons, and Brent
Wiscons; his sister, Bernie (Mike) Hoffman; and his brother-in law, Mike Crowe.
He was preceded in death by his father, Frank H. Wiscons and his sister, Babette (Wiscons) Crowe.

ROCHESTER -- Earl W. Beem, 52, died at 7:25 a.m. Tuesday, April 12, 2011, at St. Joseph
Regional Medical Center, Plymouth.
He is survived by a son, Earl (Anissa) Beem of Knox; sister, Glenda Bauer of Rochester;
brothers, Homer (Anna) Beem and Jay (Theresa) Beem, both of Knox; and three grandchildren.
Visitation will take place from 1 to 5 p.m. (Central Time) Saturday, April 16, at Rannells Funeral
Home, Hamlet Chapel.
Funeral services will take place at 5 p.m. Saturday at the chapel. Memorial contributions may be

NAPPANEE -- Loyal J. Ressler, 81, of Nappanee, died at 4 a.m., Wednesday, April 13, 2011 at
his home.
He is survived by his wife, Norma Jean; nieces and nephews; and brothers, Delbert Ressler of
Arcade, N.Y. and Olin Ressler of Queens Creek, Ariz.
Visitation will take place from 2 to 8 p.m. Saturday, April 16 and nor hour prior to services
Sunday at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee.
Funeral services will take place at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 17 at Salem Mennonite Church.
Burial will follow at Salem cemetery.
