Chester W. Miller
ELKHART -- Chester W. Miller, age 79, a resident of Elkhart, passed away of natural causes
Monday, Jan. 17, 2011 at 3:55 p.m. in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center of South Bend.
Chester was born the son of Ralph Miller and Ruth Felter Miller in Bourbon, May 18, 1931 and
graduated from Bourbon High School in the class of 1949. He also enjoyed old cars,
motorcycles, tractors, airplanes and most anything with a motor or that was mechanical.
He married
Joyce McIntyre May 12, 1951; she survives. He was a retired Tool and Die Maker
spending years with Bendix Corporation and other manufacturing companies.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce of 59 years; and their three children: Roger Miller of Niles,
Mich., Debra and husband Michael Troyer of Elkhart, and Cathy Kmitta of Elkhart. Also surviving
are nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Shirley Thompson of Bremen; and a
brother, Leslie and Diane Miller of Kodak, Tenn.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Rebecca Accaria.
A memorial celebration of Chester’s life will be at 3 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 20 in the DeatonClemens
Funeral Home 115 S. Main St., Bourbon, IN, 46504.
The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until the time of services Thursday in the funeral home.
The family would welcome memorial contributions to the American Heart Association in his memory.
Deaton-Clemens Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.
Hazel F. Sullivan
ARGOS -- Hazel F. Sullivan, 88, of E. 18th St., Rochester, formerly of Argos, died at 8:40 p.m.
Monday, Jan. 17, 2011 at Hickory Creek Nursing Home, Rochester. She had been in declining
health for four years.
She was born Nov. 15, 1922 in Rural Walnut Township, Marshall County, to Charles W. and
Helen (Kepler) Hullinger and lived all of her life in the Argos Community.
Feb. 14, 1954 at St John’s Lutheran Church in Rochester, she married
Gerald C. Sullivan. He
preceded her in death Oct. 18, 1990. She was a farmer’s wife and homemaker
Hazel was a member of the Walnut Roulettes and a charter member of the Hi Neighbor Club
and served as president of the club several times.
She was a graduate of Argos High School with the class of 1940.
She is survived by a son, Hal Michael (Jeanne) Sullivan of Argos; two grandchildren, Charles W.
Sullivan and Jennifer M. Sullivan, both of Argos; and numerous friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Friends may visit with the family Thursday, Jan. 20, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Earl-Grossman
Funeral Home, 208 N. Michigan St., Argos.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 21, at the funeral home with Rev. Robert Rice of the
Walnut Church of the Brethren, Argos, officiating.
Burial will follow at Maple Grove cemetery Argos.

Russell 'Butch' Ervin
NAPPANEE -- Russell 'Butch' Ervin, 72, Nappanee, died Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2011 at Indiana
University Medical Center, Indianapolis.
He is survived by his wife, Marianne Ervin; daughters, Brenda Ervin of Brownsburg and Beth
(Donny) Sample of Goshen; a granddaughter; brother, Kenton (Jill) Ervin of Nappanee; and a
brother-in-law, Kent Beehler of New Paris.
Visitation will take place from 2 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 22 and one hour prior to services
Sunday at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, 950 N. Main St., Nappanee.
Funeral services will take place at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 23 at the funeral home.
Burial will follow at Union Center cemetery with military graveside services.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Nappanee American Legion.
LaVern Hollar
ETNA GREEN -- LaVern Hollar, of Etna Green, died at 5:58 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2011 at his
residence.
He is survived by his wife, Daisy Mae (Stine) Hollar, Etna Green; sons, Gary (Catherine) Hollar
of Bloomington and Paul (Beth) Hollar of Atwood.
Visitation will take place from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan 21, at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder
Funeral Home, 950 N. Main St., Nappanee.
Funeral services will take place at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan 22 at the funeral home.

James E., Jr. Kuykendoll
ROCHESTER -- James E. Kuykendoll Jr., 65, died at 3:45 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2011 at his
residence.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia; sons, Jason (Christina) Kuykendoll of South Bend and
Eugene (Ann) Kuykendoll of Delong; daughters: Darlina (Ryan) Clingler of Kings Lake, Lei Lani
Ryman of South Bend, and Jammie Kuykendoll of Delong; brother, Gary E. Kuykendoll of San
Diego, Calif.; sister, Patricia Kroger of Hawaii; and 11 grandchildren.
Visitation will take place from noon to 3 p.m. (EDT) Saturday, Jan. 22 at Odom Funeral Home,
Culver.
Funeral services will take place at 3 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Burial will follow at Culver Masonic cemetery, Culver.

Chancey R. Bright
PLYMOUTH -- Chancey R. Bright, age 76, of west Jackson St., Plymouth, passed away
Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2011, at 9:30 p.m., at Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, Plymouth.
Chancey was born Nov. 10, 1934, in Kosciusko County, to Earl and Marie (Allen) Bright. He
proudly served his country in the United States Army (Screaming Eagles) during the Korean
War.
Chancey married
the former Marjorie Jolly, Nov. 9, 1957. Marjorie passed away in 2004.
Chancey was a member of the VFW Post #1162, the American Legion Post #27, and the First
United Methodist Church, Plymouth, where he served on the Social Concern’s Committee. He
was the Boy Scout Master, through the church, for 25 years, and was very active in Scouting.
Chancey retired from Boreman Products in Bremen.
He was an active listener and participant on WTCA Radio’s 'What’s Your Opinion Show.' He
was also a loyal Green Bay Packers Fan, sporting his hat, coat, and other Green Bay
memorabilia.
Chancey is survived by sons, Dave A. Bright, Sr., Michael W. Bright, and Gary L. Bright all of
Plymouth; his sisters, Margaret (James) Ellsworth and Vadis Schewin both of Mishawaka; his
brother, Howard Bright of Mentone; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Chancey was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie; his daughter, Sally Jernstrom in 2009; his
brother, Ray Bright; and his sister, Esther Harner.

Niles F. Hunsberger
COLUMBUS -- Niles F. Hunsberger, 77, of Columbus, died at 11:17 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 19,
2011 at Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.
Survivors include his wife, Karen Reed Hunsberger; sons Michael S. and Matthew T.
Hunsberger, both of Columbus; a brother, Jack (Carol) Hunsberger of Nappanee; sisters Doris
(Lawrence) Thwaits of Syracuse; Kimberly (John) Anderson of Elkhart and Cara Sterling of
Nappanee and one granddaughter.
Private inurnment was held at Hope Moravian cemetery with the Rev. Marc P. Vance officiating.
A memorial service was conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 29 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church
with calling after the service.

Betty Jane Wright
PLYMOUTH -- Betty Jane Wright, 64, of Plymouth, died Wednesday, Jan, 19, 2011 at Our Lady
of Peace Hospital in Mishawaka.
She was born Oct. 25, 1946 in Fort Wayne to the late Melvin Arnold and Pauline (Seitz) Wright.
She is survived by her sisters, Connie Vinson and Penny Wright both of Fort Wayne; brothers,
Rick Wright and Keith Wright of Fort Wayne; a stepsister, Pam Beaman; stepmother, Pernie
Wright; and aunt and uncle Bill and Reba Mullins, all of Fort Wayne; and several nieces and
nephews.
Graveside service is 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 24, at Covington Memorial Gardens, Covington Road,
Fort Wayne.

away at 7:45 a.m., Friday, Jan. 21, 2011 at Hickory Creek at Rochester.
He is survived by two daughters, Michaelene (Brian) Jordan of Vicksburg, Mich. And Denise
(Louis) DeMarco of Monee, Ill.; four grandchildren; a brother, Richard Weiland of Plymouth.
Visitation will take place from 12 to 4 p.m. Monday, Jan. 24 at Good Family Funeral Home, 1200
W. 18th St., Rochester. Funeral services will take place at 4 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. -- Barbara Esther (Whan) Hughes died Tuesday, Jan. 25 2011 at

She is survived by daughters, Johanna Trickovic of Orinda, Calif. And Greta Berlin of Bar Sur
Loup, France; son, Eric Hughes of Oakland; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

ROCK HILL, S.C. -- Frances L. Quivey, 92, formerly of Plymouth, died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2011
in Rock Hill, S.C.
She is survived by a daughter, Joan (Robert) Matejka of South Carolina; five grandchildren; and
eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation will take place from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 2 at Johnson-Danielson Funeral
Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth.
Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Burial will follow at New Oakhill cemetery, Plymouth.

Troy A. Klingerman
WALKERTON -- Troy A. Klingerman, 21, of N. Thorn Road, Walkerton, died at 11:50 a.m. in his
home Friday, Jan. 28, 2011.
Troy was born in South Bend, the son of James A. and Traci I. Klingerman.
He graduated from John Glenn High School with the class of 2009. He was a member of the
high school bowling team and a Future Farmer of America. His nickname among his friends was
'Candyman.'
Troy is survived by his parents; and a sister and brother-in-law, Heather S. and Rick Dare; and
two brothers, Steven L. Klingerman and Mathew J. Klingerman, all of Walkerton. Grandparents,
Gale and Sharon Lowry, Walkerton, and Dale and Beatrice Klingerman, Bremen, also survive
together with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth,
Friday, Feb. 4, from 3 to 8 p.m.
Funeral services for Troy will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 5, in the funeral home. Pastor
Charles Krieg will officiate.
Burial will be in the Woodlawn cemetery, Walkerton.
