Emma Faith Hope Miller
KNOX -- Emma Faith Hope Miller, newborn, died Jan. 5, 2011, at Pulaski Memorial Hospital,
Winamac.
She is survived by her parents, Matthew and Angela (Mann) Miller; sisters: Kaitlyn Miller,
Brooklynn Miller and Trinity Miller, all of Knox; maternal grandparents, David (Dawn) Mann of
Plymouth and Debbie (John) McIntire of Plymouth; paternal grandparents Dr. Thomas and
Laurie Miller, Plymouth; and great-grandmother, Opal Mann of Knox.
Visitation will take place from noon to 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 10 at Johnson-Danielson Funeral
Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth.
Funeral services will take place at 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Burial will follow at St. Michael cemetery, Plymouth.

Paula Sue Morris
CULVER -- Paula Sue Morris, 47, a Marshall County resident all of her life, died unexpectedly
from natural causes at 7:08 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2011 in Saint Joseph Regional Medical
Center, Plymouth.
The daughter of Guy and Jean Masterson Flosenzier, Paula was born Sept. 13, 1963, in
Plymouth. A 1982 graduate of Plymouth High School, she had also attended Ancilla College.
Paula married
Michael Morris and they were blessed with a son, Richard Morris. Paula and Mike
were later divorced. Mike preceded Paula in death Nov. 19, 2005.
She worked for Hopple Excavating for several years as a bookkeeper.
An animal lover, she enjoyed rescuing dogs and cats and giving them good homes. Paula also
enjoyed Notre Dame Football, cooking, antiques and most of all family gatherings.
Paula is survived by her son, Richard; her parents, Guy and Jean Flosenzier; her companion,
George Hopple and his son, John of Culver; two brothers, Allen (Jamie) Flosenzier and Paul
(Sherri) Flosenzier and two sisters, Debbie (Robert) Johnson and Kay Orangias, all of Plymouth;
and five nephews and two nieces: David and Jimmy Flosenzier, Mike and Sarah Orangias,
Stephen and Eric Johnson, and Lindsay Sauder.
She was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Charles Orangias.
Friends are invited to share memories with Paula’s family Monday, Jan. 10, 2011, from 5 to 7
p.m. at the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth.
Memorial services, officiated by the Rev. Charles Krieg, will be held immediately following
visitation at 7 p.m. Monday.

Martha Ann Cook
KEWANNA -- Martha Ann Cook, 83, of Kewanna, passed away at 9 p.m., Friday, Jan. 7, 2011
at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Plymouth.
Born Dec. 12, 1927 in Kewanna, she was the daughter of the late Guy Ernest and Jessie Bell
(Lisey) Urbin. March 13, 1946 she married
Kenneth H. Cook and he preceded her in death May
22, 2005.
She was a 1945 Kewanna High School graduate.
Martha had been the Head Cook at Union Twp. Schools, Clerk Treasurer for the Town of
Kewanna, and she also formerly co-owned and operated Ken-Mar Suds Station and Ken-Mar
Glass Shop. She was a member of the Kewanna United Methodist Church, United Methodist
Women, Kewanna Order of Eastern Star, Fulton County Republican Women’s Association,
Fenton Glass Club of Ohio and she had also served on the Union Township Library Board.
Martha enjoyed camping and collecting antiques.
Survivors include her children, Kent Cook and his wife Sheri of Kewanna, Kenan Kimble and her
husband Jerry, of Bowling Green, Ky., Katrina Carlisle and her husband John, of Indianapolis,
and Kip Cook and his wife Janece, of Plymouth; 13 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.
She is also preceded in death by one brother, John Urbin; a sister, Clara Jane Kumler; one
grandson, Bryce Carlisle; and one great-grandson, Isaiah Bitterling.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 11 at Kewanna United Methodist Church with
Pastor Chris Tiedeman officiating.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., Monday, Jan. 10, at Harrison-Metzger & Rans Funeral Home,
Kewanna Chapel and also one hour prior to the service at the church.
Burial will be at Citizens IOOF cemetery in Kewanna.

Frank B. Method
NAPPANEE -- Frank B. Method, 85, of Goshen, formerly of Nappanee, died at 11:45 a.m., Jan.
7, 2011 at Greencroft Nursing Center.
He is survived by a son, Richard (Kay) Method of Nappanee; three grandsons; five greatgrandchildren;
a sister, Eloise (Vern) Meeks of Nappanee; and twin sister, Bertha Parker of
Nappanee.
Visitation will take place from 1 to 3 p.m. Monday, Jan. 10 at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder
Funeral Home, 950 N. Main St., Nappanee.
Funeral services will take place at 3 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Burial will follow with military services at Baintertown cemetery, New Paris.

Kenneth W. Carter
BREMEN -- Kenneth W. Carter, 71, of Bremen, died Saturday, Jan. 8, 2011 at Sanctuary at
Holy Cross, South Bend.
He is survived by a son, Don Skiles of Osceola; brother, Roy (Nina) Carter of Mishawaka;
sisters, Mary (Truman) Merriman of Goreville, Ill., and Bess (Jim) McKenzie of Bremen; two
grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will take place from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 11 at Mishler Funeral Home, 2030 S.R.
331, Bremen.
Funeral services will take place at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 12 at the funeral home.
Burial will follow at Bremen cemetery.

James D. Spiegel
PLYMOUTH -- James D. Spiegel, 77, of Lincoln Highway, Plymouth, passed away Saturday,
Jan. 8, 2011, at his home, at 3:22 a.m.
James was born April 11, 1933, in Pierceton, to Arthur and Violet (Weaver) Spiegel. James and
Judy Boggs were married
March 13, 1974. They had been married
for 36 years. James served
his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He retired from Sprint, after
working for 39 years.
He then started working for Husband Exterminators, then went back to Sprint and worked as a
part-time security guard. He belonged to the Walnut Church of the Brethren, in Argos.
James is survived by his wife, Judy Spiegel; their daughters: Helen (Kenny) Haines of Plymouth,
Kathy (Dan) Anglemyer of Silver Lake, Shana (Cody) Leed of Argos, Jaime (Bryan) Hall of
Argos, Cheryl Fouts of Warsaw, and Kay (Bill) Kelly of Burkett; their sons: Terry Spiegel of
Indianapolis, Robert Spiegel of Koontz Lake, and Butch (Tonya) Boggs of Warsaw; 24
grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and his brother, Larry
(Darlene) Speigle of Warsaw.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepfather, Kenneth; his son-in-law, Kevin Fouts;
and his sister, Patsy Hathaway.

PLYMOUTH -- Cheryl K. Elliott, 48, of Plymouth, died Sunday, Jan. 9, 2011 in her home.
She is survived by her husband, Jack L. Elliott; daughters, Candace Ernsperger and Sunshine
Hummell; sons, Jesse and Earl Elliot; eight grandchildren; parents, Don and Sally Shaw; sister,
Starla Williams; brother, Marvin Shaw and grandparents, Mary and Dick Heil.

Ernest W. Keen
KNOX -- Ernest W. Keen, 83, of Knox, formerly of Grovertown, died Tuesday, Jan. 11 at his
residence.
She is survived by sons: Ernest (Della) Keen Jr. of Knox, Eric (Monica) Keen of Plymouth, and
Kevin Keen of Grovertown; one daughter, Chrystal (Jack) Hamman of Knox; 12 grandchildren;
13 great-grandchildren; a brother, Jessie Keen of Osceola; and sisters, Jeanette Rowe of Knox,
and Dora Mitchell of West Virginia.
Visitation will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. (Central Time) Friday, Jan. 14 at Rannells
Funeral Home, Hamlet Chapel.
Funeral services will take place at 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Marthann "Martha" Meyers
WARSAW -- Marthann 'Martha' Meyers, 85, of Whitetail Run, Warsaw, passed away at 3:45
a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2011, at her home following an extended illness.
Martha was born Dec. 31, 1925, in Plymouth. She was the only child of Otto K. and Edith
(Cummins) Duddleson. Martha grew up in the Plymouth and Warsaw areas. She was a graduate
of Plymouth High School. Martha’s first marriage, to Bernie Eads, blessed them with their only
child, Darcy. On Dec. 30, 1974, Martha married
Paul E. Meyers. He preceded her in death April
16, 2002. They resided at Lawrence Lake, in Plymouth, for several years before moving to
Mission, Texas in 1989.
Martha and Paul were avid snowbirds traveling all over the United States in their motor home.
While living in Texas, Martha taught ceramics and oil painting. She loved to embroider and sew.
After her illness, she moved to Warsaw, where she remained until her death.
Martha was the Children’s Librarian at the Plymouth Public Library for many years. She had just
celebrated her 85th birthday, with her family, and was able to meet her newest great-grandchild
Dexter, born Dec. 27, 2010. Martha loved to dance to the big band era songs from the ‘40s. She
loved her family, friends, and music. We’d like to think she is now dancing with the angels in
Heaven!
Martha is survived by her loving daughter, Darcy (Eads) Shafer of Larwill; her grandchildren,
Darton Lane Shafer of Fort Wayne, and Destiny Lenae (Shafer) Stephens of Columbia City; her
five great-grandchildren: Gavyn Paul Stephens, Bryson Anthony Stephens, Payton Elise Shafer,
and Mallory Claire Shafer, all of Columbia City, and Dexter Lee Shafer of Fort Wayne.

ROCHESTER -- Esther Fae Books, 95, of Rochester, died at the Life Care Center Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2011.
She is survived by three grandchildren; two great-grandsons; one brother; a son-in-law and his
wife; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation is from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 W. 18th St.,
Rochester, and one hour prior to services Monday.
Services are Monday, Jan. 17 at 11 a.m.
Burial will be at Rochester IOOF cemetery.
