Shawna M. Hawn, 32, of LaOtto, a waitress, died Monday, Dec. 23, 2002, at IU Medical Center in Indianapolis.
The Auburn native had worked for Strawberry's and was a member of Garrett Eagles. Surviving are a son, Adam Howard of Butler; daughters Natasha Howard of Butler and Shalyn Tester of LaOtto; her fiance, Doug Baker of LaOtto; her father, Kerwin Hawn of Hamilton; her mother, Linda Kalinowski of Hamilton; brothers David Hawn of Indianapolis and Brian Hawn of Hamilton; and sisters Lisa Bickel of New Paris, Niakki VanOsdale of Hudson, Naikoma Hawn of Garrett and Neosha Hawn of Butler. She was preceded in death by daughters Megan and Ashley Howard, a brother and a sister. Services are 2 p.m. Saturday at Thomas Funeral Home, Garrett, with calling from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday. Edgar J. Schwegman, 82, of Brookville, a member of Eagles Aerie 1129, died Monday, Dec. 23, 2002, at McCullough-Hyde Memorial Hospital in Oxford, Ohio.
The Franklin County native was retired from Mosler Safe Co. in Hamilton, Ohio. He was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus 1010, Franklin County Historical Society and served on Franklin County Health Board for more than 40 years. Surviving are his wife, Mildred; sons Donald of Fort Wayne, Jerome of Brookville, Maurice of Clearwater, Fla., and David of Carmel; and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister and two brothers. Services are 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Michael Catholic Church, Brookville. Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday with an 8 p.m. rosary service at Phillips & Meyers Funeral Home, Brookville. Burial will be at church cemetery. Memorials are to St. Michael School Building Fund.

Theodore R. "Ted" Dickey, 90, of Kendallville, member/director of South Milford Community Improvement League for 40 years, died Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2002, at home.
The rural Wolf Lake native retired in 1977 from J.O. Mory Inc. as installer/service technician, had driven school bus for several years, had worked for McCray Refrigeration Co. and E.F. Seagly Co. He was a member of Indiana Farm Bureau, South Milford Volunteer Fire Department and South Milford Church of Christ where he served as elder. Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Avis; a son, David A. of Kendallville; a daughter, Sue E. Thomas of South Bend; four grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters. Services are 11 a.m. Friday at Hite Funeral Home, Kendallville, with calling from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be at South Milford cemetery.

Gwendolyn "Jean" Smith, 63, of Warsaw, a member of Women of the Moose, died Monday, Dec. 23, 2002, at home.
The Warsaw native was a dining employee for Kosciusko County Shrine Building and also a homemaker. Surviving are her husband, Keith; daughters Debbie Oswalt of Pierceton and Chasta Flory of Warsaw; a son, Ricky Allen of Warsaw; a brother, Bill Nine of Warsaw; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. A brother preceded her in death. Services are 2 p.m. Friday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw, with calling from noon until services. Burial will be private. Memorials are to the family.

Wilma J. Suter, 82, of Huntington County, a member of the Homech Club for 50 years, died Monday, Dec. 23, 2002, at home.
The Huntington County native was retired from Memcor and had worked for Kitchen Maid in Andrews. She was a member of Mount Etna United Methodist Church. She taught junior bowlers for 50 years at Rainbow Lanes and bowled in Tuesday night league at Oak Lanes and Friday night league at Rainbow Lanes. Surviving are sons Larry of Anderson and Delbert of Huntington; a daughter, Annette Busz of Warsaw; a brother, Doyle Richardson of Huntington; a sister, Donna M. Shilling of Huntington; 11 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald. Services are 11 a.m. Friday at Mount Etna United Methodist Church, Mount Etna. Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, Huntington. Burial will be at Gardens of Memory cemetery, Marion.

Leland B. "Pete" Green, 81, of Ashley, CEO/founder of Ashley Housing Corp., died Monday, Dec. 23, 2002, at Cameron Memorial Hospital in Angola.
The LaGrange County native was a retired transportation engineer and a World War II Army Air Corps veteran. Surviving are his wife, Virginia; daughters Susan Green of Muncie and Rebecca Coar of Fort Wayne; a son, Lee Smith of Port Ludlow, Wash.; brothers R. Karl of Wooster, Ohio, and James R. of Sebring, Fla.; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. A daughter, Carol Witkowski, preceded him in death. Services are 10 a.m. Saturday at Johnson Funeral Home, Hudson, with calling from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday. Burial will be at Woodruff cemetery, Wolcottville.

The Fort Wayne native enjoyed basketball, football and golf. Surviving are a son, David M. of East Greenwich, R.I.; a daughter, Michelle Yohey of Fort Wayne; his mother, Martha Christy of Las Vegas; a brother, Roger D. of Las Vegas; and three grandchildren. Robert M. Moser, 88, of rural Ligonier, a member of Hex Grange, died Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2002, at Avalon Village.
The Adams County native was an area farmer and sold International Harvester farm equipment and Kaiser-Frazier autos. He attended Richville United Methodist Church and was a charter member of Ligonier Industrial Development Corp. Surviving are a daughter, Marilyn J. Miller of Ligonier; brothers Eugene V. of Syracuse and Lewis of Ligonier; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha E., an infant daughter and son, a sister and five brothers. Services are 10 a.m. Saturday at Richville United Methodist Church, Ligonier. Faith "Faye" Eilene Kiefer, 97, of Berne, a former volunteer Gray Lady, died Monday, Feb. 17, 2003, at Swiss Village.
The Wells County native was a homemaker, and had worked for General Electric Co. in Fort Wayne during World War II, for H.C. Bays Piano Co. and for the Bluffton glove factory. She was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church in Bluffton, where she served as a Sunday school teacher and was a member of United Methodist Women. Surviving are a daughter, Wanda Steffen of Bluffton; two grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Artie; a daughter, Wilma Conner; a son, Roger; four brothers and six sisters. Services are 11 a.m. Saturday at Thoma/Rich, Hewitt & Chaney Funeral Home, Bluffton, with calling one hour before services and also from 2 to 9 p.m. Friday. Burial will be at Elm Grove cemetery, Bluffton. Memorials are to the church or Swiss Village.

Bette Joss Becker, 76, of Rancho Santa Fe, Calif., and formerly of Fort Wayne, died Friday, Jan. 24, 2003.
The Canada native had worked for Met Life as an insurance financial planner. Surviving are daughters Gay Crowe and Joy Campbell, both of Escondido; sons James C. of Leucadia and Richard N. II of San Marcos; a sister, Marianne Leszcz of Dover, Del.; a brother, Robert A. Joss of Indianapolis; and nine grandchildren. Services are 2 p.m. Sunday at Quail Gardens Trail, Encinitas.
