Jill Ann Dreyer, 41, a nurse and member of the Murray Missionary Church, died Saturday, Feb. 22, 2003, at home.
The Fort Wayne native worked at the Caylor-Nickel Clinic for six years and then at Huntington Hospital for the last 13 years. She was active with the Wells County Horse and Pony Club, and loved gardening. Surviving are her husband, Tim; a son, Mike of Uniondale; a daughter, Erin Baumgartner of Uniondale; her parents, Lawrence and Suzanne Stabler; a brother, Rick of Milwaukee, Wis.; and a sister, Kelly Norris of Huntington. Services are 2 p.m. Tuesday at Thoma/Rich, Hewitt & Chaney Funeral Home in Bluffton. Calling will be from 2 to 5 and 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Sonja S. Evans, 35, died Friday, Feb. 21, 2003, at home.
The Warsaw native was a homemaker and graduated from Manchester High School. Surviving are her husband, Mike D., of Roann; her parents, Richard Jackson and Lois Gray of North Manchester; brothers Billy Jackson of Silver Lake and Shannon Jackson of North Manchester; and a sister, Tammy Howard of North Manchester. Harley E. Bontrager, 79, a lifelong resident of LaGrange County, died Sunday, Feb. 23, 2003 at home.
He was a retired farmer and carpenter, and was Old Order Amish. Surviving are daughters LeEtta Frey of Millersburg, Marie Hochstetler and Marilyn Schlabach, both of LaGrange, Freda Bontrager, Viola Lehman and Elsie Miller, all of Shipshewana, and Marlene Riehl of Wolcottville; sons Richard and Wilbur, both of LaGrange, Ezra of Wolcottville, Calvin of Nappanee, and Cletus of Middlebury; sisters Amelia Yoder of Topeka, Ella Nissley of Goshen, and Lizzie Mae of Middlebury; brothers Levi of Shipshewana, Monroe of Millersburg, Andy of Topeka, and Samuel of Middlebury; 79 grandchildren; and 68 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, Orpha; and two brothers, Daniel and Joe. Services are 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the John Beechy residence, 250W - 1120S, LaGrange. Calling will be after 5 p.m. today and all day on Tuesday at the Bontrager family residence, 0420S - 300W, LaGrange. Burial will be at Mast cemetery.

Loyal R. Axsom, 88, of Thorncreek Township, died Sunday, Feb. 23, 2003 at Parkview Whitley Hospital in Columbia City.
The Fort Wayne native was a member of First Baptist Church in Columbia City, the Mizpah Shrine and Horse Patrol, and Columbia City F. & A.M. He owned and operated Columbia Radiator from 1960-1989. He is survived by his wife, Hazel; a brother, Earl Axson of Fort Wayne; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by a son, William Axsom; a daughter, Linda Axsom; brothers Charles, Ed, and Dale; sisters Anna Noice and Beatrice Huss; and half sisters Maude James and Henrietta Adamson. Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City. Calling will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Smith and Sons Funeral Home. Margaret A. Martin, 73, of LaGrange, died Saturday, Feb. 22, 2003, at home.
The Demorest, Ga., native was a retired registered nurse and served in the U.S. Air Force. She was a member of Mount Zion Lutheran Church in LaGrange, Sylvan Chapter 251 Order of the Eastern Star, and board of LaGrange County Council on Aging. Surviving are daughters Marty Kiskaden of LaGrange and Wendy Glick of Fort Wayne; a son, Keith B. Jr. of Atlanta; stepdaughters Nancy Callander of Lubbock, Texas, and Judy Tyl of Sumter, S.C.; sisters Thelma Lynch of Fayetteville, N.C., and Loretta Hester, of Dover, Del.; a brother, Kenneth Duncan of Stanley, N.C.; 11 grandchildren; four foster grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Keith, and a brother, James Duncan. Services are 10 a.m. Wednesday at Frurip-May Funeral Home in LaGrange. Anna L. Dahlkamp, 99, died Friday, Feb. 21, 2003, in Canterbury, N.H. The Adams County native was a homemaker and lived in the Grabill area for more than 60 years. She attended Pilgrim Holiness Church in Fort Wayne. Surviving are a son, Tommy W. of Grabill; nine grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, George E.; a daughter, Norma Battenburg; four sisters; and six brothers. Services are 10 a.m. Tuesday at D.O. Eloise V. Alspaugh, 79, of Willshire, Ohio, died Saturday, Feb. 22, 2003, at Van Wert County Hospital.
The Springfield, Ohio native served as a Wave in the U.S. Navy during World War II, and worked as a computer programmer and systems analyst for the United States government. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Schumm, the Evergreen Garden Club, American Legion in Van Wert, and Elks Club in Celina. Surviving are her husband, Ned; and three nieces. The North Manchester native owned and operated Drerup Machine Shop in Huntington from 1951 to 1988, and was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church. Surviving are a son, Larry A. of Howe; a daughter, Lolita Sirens of Detroit; sisters Ouida Alford of Fort Wayne and Mary Brand of Kalamazoo, Mich.; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma; and a brother, Horace. Services are 10 a.m. Friday at First Church of God in LaGrange.
