He was retired from the city of Ocoee, and was owner/operator of Roger's Sunoco in Fort Wayne and a World War II Navy veteran. Surviving are his wife, Ginny; sons Nick, David and John; a daughter, Cynthia; brothers Lyle, Edwin and Donald; a sister, Mildred; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Services are 10 a.m. Monday at Woodlawn Funeral Home Chapel, Gotha, with calling from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday. Burial will be at Woodlawn Memorial Park. Timmy Gibson, 43, of Rochester, a former employee of Warsaw Plating Works, died Wednesday, April 2, 2003, at Woodlawn Hospital.
The Prestonsburg, Ky., native attended The Old Gravel Road Church in Claypool. Surviving are his wife, Kimberly; a daughter, Tasha L. Gibson of Rochester; sons Joshwa T. and Gordon J., both of Rochester; his parents, O.C. and Ruth Shepherd of Martin, Ky.; sisters Vicki Collins of Martin, Ky., and Donna Sanchez and Karen Conley, both of Warsaw; and brothers Terry Gibson and Charles Shepherd, both of Warsaw, Jeffery Shepherd of Seymor, Ky., and Mark Shepherd of Martin, Ky. Stanley "Pete" Shilling, 74, of Warsaw, owner of Shilling Backhoe Service, died Thursday, April 3, 2003, at Southwest Florida Regional Medical Center in Fort Myers, Fla.
The Palestine native had worked for Dalton Foundry and Ginter Electric. He attended Walnut Creek Methodist Church and Villas Wesleyan Methodist Church in Fort Myers. Surviving are his wife, Jeanette; daughters Rita Craig, Patricia Yarian and Jacolyn Tucker, all of Warsaw, Deborah Shilling of Pierceton and DeAnna Ragan of Lake Mary, Fla.; sons Douglas of Silver Lake, Rodney of Etna Green and Spencer of Claypool; stepsons Tom Vanderpool of Greenfield, Ken Vanderpool of Fort Wayne and Roger Vanderpool of Casa Grande, Ariz.; a sister, Ella M. Ransbottom of Claypool; brothers Donald of Davenport, Fla., and Phil of Kingman, Ariz.; 15 grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and three stepgreat-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by wives Arlene and Ina. Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw, with calling from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday. Rosella A. Seddelmeyer, 88, of Rockford, Ohio, a volunteer at Lutheran Home for 21 years, died Thursday, April 3, 2003, at Laurels of Shane Hill Nursing Home.
The Allen County, Ind., native was a homemaker and member of Trinity Surburban Lutheran Church. Surviving are a son, Lou of Lima; a daughter, Norma J. Brueck of Woodburn, Ind.; a brother, Melvin Gerke of Fort Wayne; a sister, Vera Speicher of Rockford; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Her husband, Paul, preceded her in death. Ronald L. Shoda Sr., 67, of Columbia City, a former union general contractor, died Friday, April 4, 2003, at home.
The Columbia City native had served with the National Guard, was a member of Eagles Aerie 1906 and had spent 23 years in Pacific Northwest. Surviving are his wife, Rosalie K.; son Ronald L. Jr. of Columbia City and Ryan A. of Portland, Ore.; daughters Rhonda K. Shoda-Rau of Portland, Ore., LuAnn Shoda-O'Meara and Ronelle Parrett, both of Columbia City, and Becky Knight of Hermiston, Ore.; a brother, Robert L. The Union City, Ohio, native was a homemaker and charter member of Calvary Third Presbyterian Church in Fort Wayne. Surviving are a son, Thomas W. of Franklin; a brother, Eugene Reish of Rockford, Ohio; grandchildren Elizabeth Marks-Strauss of Indianapolis and Melissa and Jon Armor, both of Franklin; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, William G. Services are 2 p.m. Monday at Franklin United Methodist Community Wright Chapel, Franklin, with calling one hour before services. Osie L. Sprunger, 94, of Berne, a former elementary school teacher, died Thursday, April 3, 2003, at Swiss Village.
The Adams County native was also a homemaker and member of First Missionary Church. She was a charter member of Berne Mother's Club, Sunday schoolteacher for several years and also served on the church Hospitality Committee. Surviving are sons Jerry L. of Berne and Jimmie of Pandora, Ohio; a daughter, Janean Moser of Berne; 12 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leslie L., and a brother, Ernest Hiestand. Services are 10 a.m. Monday at Swiss Village Chapel, Berne, with calling one hour before services. Calling is also from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the chapel. Burial will be at MRE cemetery, Berne. Memorials are to Swiss Village Endowment Fund.

Joseph F. Bennett, 83, of Paulding, Ohio, a World War II Army veteran, died Friday, April 4, 2003, at Dallas Lamb Foundation Home in Payne.
The Zanesville native retired in 1979 from Anchor Hocking in Zanesville after 42 years of service. He was a member of Knights of Columbus 3584, VFW Post 587 and American Legion Post 297 in Payne. Surviving are his wife, Mary E.; sons Walter of Sydney and Michael of Anna; a daughter, Linda McCain of Paulding; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers. Services are 11 a.m. (Ohio time) Monday at Den Herder Funeral Home, Paulding, with calling from 8 a.m. until services and also from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday with a 7 p.m. wake service. William H. Poffenberger, 86, of Orland, a World War II Army Air Corps veteran, died Thursday, April 3, 2003, at Community Health Center in Coldwater, Mich.
The Fort Wayne native was retired from Tri-State Advertising as salesman. He was a member of Lake George Lutheran Chapel and American Legion Post 423 and past commander of Wayne-dale Post 241. Surviving are his wife, Madelene; a son Ronald of Angola; a daughter, Susan Collins of Orland; brothers Robert and Donald, both of Fort Wayne; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Services with military honors are 2 p.m. Sunday at Weicht Funeral Home, Angola, with calling from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday. Burial is noon Monday at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Fort Wayne.
