Spc. Brian Michael "Monkee" Clemens, 19, of Kokomo died Thursday, Feb. 6, 2003, near Camp Arifijan, Kuwait. "Brian was fun- loving and gave 110 percent to everyone." The Columbus, Ohio, native was serving with Indiana National Guard, Charlie Company, 2nd Battalion, 293rd Infantry in Peru. He worked for Wal-Mart as a stockman for two years, was an Eagle Scout, a member of Order of the Arrow and served as junior assistant scoutmaster. Surviving are his mother and stepfather, Cathy and Terry McCray of Kokomo; his father and stepmother, Robert and Shirley of Dayton, Ohio; a sister, Jennifer at home; stepbrothers Brian McCray of Las Vegas, Matt McCray of Troy, Ohio, and Andy McCray of Moline, Ill.; grandparents Catherine and Joseph O'Donnell of Columbus, Ohio, and Robert and Nancy Clemens of Cincinnati; and a stepgrandmother, Melba McCray of Englewood, Ohio. Services are 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Maconaquah High School Auditorium, Bunker Hill. Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Monday at Murray Funeral Home, Galveston. Burial will be at Springdale cemetery. Memorials are to Sagamore Council for Camp Buffalo Boy Scouts of America or Maconaquah Athletic Department.

Sharon P. McClish
Bluffton - 1948-2003

Sharon P. McClish, 55, of Bluffton, a member of Women of the Moose in Portland, died Thursday, Feb. 13, 2003, at Bluffton Regional Medical Center. "She was an avid Elvis fan who loved her family." The Portland native worked for Bluffton Rubber and for Corning Glass Co. from 1966 to 1988. She was a member of Portland Eagles and American Legion Auxiliary, and loved to spend time fishing with her loving companion, George L. Satterfield of Bluffton. Other survivors are nieces Kimbra Ayers and Karla Haffner, both of Bryant; and six great-nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, Terry A. McClish. Services are 1 p.m. Monday at Thoma/Rich, Hewitt & Chaney Funeral Home, Bluffton, with calling from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday. Burial will be at Riverside cemetery, Geneva. Memorials are to Riley Children's Hospital or Mooseheart Association.

Ellen Laura Bashore
North Manchester - 1924-2003

Ellen Laura Bashore, 79, of North Manchester, a native of Hinckley, Minn., died Thursday, Feb. 13, 2003, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne. She was retired in 1986 from Peabody Retirement Community after 15 years of service, and had worked for Bryan Manufacturing and Heckman Bindery. Surviving are her husband, Ray E.; sons James L. of North Manchester and Neal K. of Long Lake, Minn.; a daughter, Beverly A. Bashore of North Manchester; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Graveside services are 2 p.m. Sunday at Oaklawn cemetery, North Manchester. Memorials are to the American Lung Association.

Marguerite Kaufman
Ossian - 1913-2003

Marguerite Kaufman, 89, of Ossian, who played piano monthly at Ossian Health Care, died Thursday, Feb. 13, 2003, at Ossian Health Care & Rehabilitation.

The Wells County native had worked for Montgomery Ward in Bluffton, and was a homemaker and child care and health care provider in her home. She attended Ossian United Methodist Church. Surviving are a sister, Maude Thompson of Ossian; and five nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Biberstine, and a brother, George Kaufman. Services are 10:30 a.m. Monday at Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Funeral Home, Ossian, with calling from 1 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday. Burial will be at Oak Lawn cemetery, Ossian. Memorials are to the church.

Winn Deanne Bertke
Warsaw

Winn Deanne Bertke, 48, of Warsaw, a homemaker, died Thursday, Feb. 13, 2003, at home.

She had been an area resident for seven years. Surviving are her husband, John; two daughters; a son; and four brothers. She was preceded in death by her parents, Emmitt and Lana Halstead. Services are 5 p.m. Sunday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw, with calling from 2 p.m. until services. Services are also 3 p.m. Tuesday at Evans & Evans Funeral Home, Oceana, W.Va., with calling from 1 p.m. until services. Burial will be at Stewart cemetery, Matheny, W.Va.

Harry H. Hebble Jr.
Decatur - 1938-2003

Harry H. Hebble Jr., 64, of Decatur, a member of Redmen's Lodge, died Friday, Feb. 14, 2003, at home. The Adams County native retired in 2002 as Washington Township Trustee after 20 years of service, and served on the Washington Township Board and as Adams County Youth Boxing Club coach from 1975 to 1985. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church and a recipient of 1994 Township of the Year Award from among 1, 000 townships. Surviving are his wife, Judy; daughters Meg Mendez and Marcy J. Hill, both of Decatur; his mother, Mildred Hebble of Decatur; a brother, John C. of Decatur; and four grandchildren. Services are 11 a.m. Monday at Haggard & Sefton Funeral Home, Decatur, with calling from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. Burial will be at Decatur cemetery. Memorials are to the church.

Stephen M. LaLonde, 32, of Auburn, a member of the Butler Eagles, died Thursday, Feb. 13, 2003, at Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne. The Traverse City, Mich., native was administrator at The Laurels of DeKalb County and a member of the Rotary Club. Surviving are his wife, Michelle; sons Stephen M. II and Lucas J., both of Auburn, and Kevyn R. of Kingsford, Mich.; his parents, Ron and Karen of Quinnessec, Mich.; a sister, Melissa LaLonde of Appleton, Wis.; a brother, Matt of Quinnesec; and his grandmother, Catherine LaLonde of Iron Mountain, Mich. He was preceded in death by grandparents Floyd and Louise Dishaw. Services are 8 p.m. Monday at McComb, Dilgard & Cline Funeral Home, Auburn, with calling from 4 p.m. until services. Antwerp, Ohio - 1952-2003

Samuel Ray Gordon, 50, of Antwerp, Ohio, a finish painter, died Thursday, Feb. 13, 2003, at home.

The Hicksville native worked for Steve Reiff for eight years and had worked for Solarcrete for 15 years. He was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. Surviving are his wife, Sherry; a daughter, Amber Gordon of Antwerp; a son, Nathan of Antwerp; a sister, Cathy Cline of Antwerp; a brother, George E. of Fort Wayne; and his grandmother, Esther Begley of Payne. Services are 2 p.m. Monday at Dooley Funeral Home, Antwerp, with calling from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday. Burial will be at Bethel cemetery, Cecil. Memorials are to Parkview Oncology.

Lecanto, Fla. - 1937-2003

Donald G. Thompson, 65, of Lecanto, Fla., and formerly of Hudson, Ind., died Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2003, in Lecanto.

The Garrett, Ind., native was retired from International Harvester Co. after 38 years of service and was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran. Surviving are his wife, Deb; a son, Robert of Ashley, Ind.; a stepson, Dan Trease of Biloxi, Miss.; daughters Diane Collins of Harlan, Ind., and Chris Coleman of Auburn, Ind.; stepdaughters Lisa Trease of Ashley, Ind., and Ellen Mapes of Hudson, Ind.; eight grandchildren; and five stepgrandchildren. Graveside services will be at a later date at Christian Union cemetery, Garrett, Ind.

Valeria V. Buchanan, 81, of Columbia City, co-owner of the former Buchanan Ford Inc., died Friday, Feb. 14, 2003, at The Oaks Living Center. "Her zest for life and nature was surpassed only by her love of family." The Appleton, Minn., native was also secretary/treasurer for Buchanan Automotive and served on the board of review for the Whitley County assessor. She was a member of St. Paul of the Cross Catholic Church. Surviving are her husband, Buck; sons Richard and John, both of Columbia City; daughters Patricia Woenker of Angola, Barbara Geiger of Columbia City and Deb Balyeat of Fort Wayne; a brother, David Bonk of Appleton, Minn.; sisters Helen Johnson of Ortonville, Minn., Louise Schlueter of Holloway, Minn., Margaret Wederath of New Hope, Minn., Marie Zalusky of Crown Point, Janette Rheingans and Katie Mahoney, both of Appleton, Minn., and Joan Wederath of Fruita, Colo.; 12 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Funeral Mass is 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Paul of the Cross Catholic Church, Columbia City, with calling one hour before services. Calling is also from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday with an 8 p.m. rosary service at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City. Burial will be at Catholic cemetery, Columbia City. Memorials are to the Kyle Balyeat Memorial Athletic Fund.

Warsaw - 1917-2003

Margaret M. Garver, 86, of Warsaw, a former meat cutter for Marsh Supermarket in Muncie, died Thursday, Feb. 13, 2003, at Kosciusko Community Hospital. The Muncie native was a volunteer with Kosciusko Community Hospital, and a member of First Church of the Nazarene in Muncie, Euchre Club and Women of the Moose. Surviving are a daughter, Verda R. Stinson of Warsaw; sons Charles of Lake Toxaway Falls, N.C., and Laurel of Yorktown; sisters Naoma Hurry of Lynn, Imogene Brown of Bedford, Deloris Nichols of Yorktown and Reba Shorter of Fort Myers, Fla.; 16 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl H., three brothers and three sisters. Services and burial are 2 p.m. Monday at Gardens of Memory Chapel, Muncie. Memorials are to Kosciusko Home Care & Hospice.
