Mary Virginia Wilson
Mary Virginia Wilson, 93, of 1051 Cumberland Ave., WL, and formerly of Flora, died at 6:30 a.m. on Sunday, April 7, 2002, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center.
She was born August 18, 1908 in Carroll County.
She attended Madam Blakers School in Indianapolis and graduated from Butler University in 1960.
Mrs. Wilson taught school in Flora for more than 30 years, and taught at Indian Heights in Kokomo for six years.
She married Walter Lee Wilson in Bringhurst on June 22, 1930. He preceded her in death in 1941.
She was a member of Flora United Methodist Church and Psi Iota Xi sorority.
Surviving are two daughters, Nancy Berkey of West Lafayette, and Carol Moore of Fort Wayne; and a son, Richard Wilson of Marion.
Noradell Gunderson
Noradell Gunderson, 84, of 10 Tularosa Court, died at 4:25 a.m. on Sunday, April 7, 2002, at Home Hospital.
No further information was available.
Eugene F. Chappell
Eugene F. "Gene" Chappell, 74, of 300 Pineview Lane, died at 3:30 a.m. Saturday, April 20, 2002, in Indiana University Hospital, Indianapolis, after six months of ill health.
Born March 18, 1928, in Hillsboro, W.Va., he graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1946. He lived in Lafayette for the last 52 years.
He married Linda L. "Lin" Freshour on Aug. 9, 1975, in Monticello. She survives.
Mr. Chappell was in construction for 35 years, teaching building trades for all five Tippecanoe County schools for 18 years. Most recently, he was the project manager for the new Eastside Assembly of God on County Road 50 South in Lafayette.
A member of the Eastside Assembly of God, his hobbies included cabinet making, woodworking and golf.
Surviving with his wife are a daughter, Linda Messman of Hanover, N.H.; four sons, Michael "Mike" Chappell (wife: Cheryl) of Newport, Tenn., Bruce McKinney (wife: Chris) of Lafayette, Brad McKinney (wife: Rhonda) of Monon, and Bryan McKinney (wife: Paula) of West Lafayette; a brother, John Chappell (wife: Wilda) of Hillsboro, W.Va.; and a sister, Marie Doyle of West Virginia.
Linda Kay Galloway
COVINGTON -- Linda Kay Galloway, 55, of rural Covington, died at 5:34 p.m. Friday, April 19, 2002, in Home Hospital, Lafayette.
Born Sept. 29, 1946 in Danville, Ill., she was a lifelong Covington resident, graduating from Covington High School in 1964.
She married George H. Galloway on Aug. 18, 1967, in Covington. He survives.
Mrs. Galloway had been employed at Homestretch restaurant in Attica.
She attended Sterling Christian Church and was the leader for the Rowdy Ramblers 4-H group for eight years. Mrs. Galloway enjoyed the outdoors and sports.
Surviving with her husband are three sons, Damon Galloway (wife: Angie) of Attica, Eric Galloway of Covington, and Brandon Galloway of Attica; her mother, Norma Warrick of Covington; and two sisters, Karen High (husband: Jack) of Union, Miss., and Nancy Houmes (husband: Bryan) of Veedersburg.
Paul K. Mennen
LINDEN -- Paul K. Mennen, 66, of Linden, died Saturday morning, April 20, 2002, in St. Elizabeth Medical Center. He had been in ill health since June.
Born Nov. 11, 1935, in Lafayette, he attended Shadeland High School, graduated in 1954 from Bowers High School, and attended Purdue University.
He married Nancy Gentry on April 7, 1963, in Crawfordsville. She survives.
Mr. Mennen served in the Indiana National Guard. He also farmed and worked as an assembler for Wabash National Corp. for 16 years.
He was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Lafayette.
Surviving with his wife are two sons, David Mennen of Nashville, Tenn., Mark Mennen of Indianapolis; one daughter Marcia Lund of Amesbury, Mass.; and three sisters, Lucille Mennen of Mulberry, Thelma Guse of Wanatah, and Eleanor Wakeman, of Union Mills.
James L. Reed
FRANKFORT -- James L. Reed, 42, formerly of Frankfort, died Friday, April 26, 2002, in Richmond, Ind. He was injured in an accident at a construction site, where he was working on Friday. He lived at 3784 N. Indiana 75, Thorntown.
Mr. Reed was a truck driver for Sanders Building and Contracting, where he had worked for four years. Before that he worked for General Battery for 10 years.
Born Aug. 9, 1959, in Frankfort, he was a 1977 graduate of Frankfort High School. He married Sandra Biddle, and they were divorced. He married Bobbi Byers in April 1996. She survives and resides in Mississippi.
Mr. Reed was a member of Thorntown Baptist Church.
Other survivors include two sons, James Lee Reed II of Muncie and Brian Reed of Frankfort; his mother, Rebecca Garcia of Frankfort; his father and stepmother, Larry and Norma Reed of Greely, Colo.; a sister, Janet S. Brawley of Clayton, N.M.; a brother, Alan J. Reed of Lebanon; three half sisters, Tonya R. of Florida, Mary Reed and Pamela Jo Reed, both of Missouri; and a companion, Linda Wood of Thorntown, with whom he made his home.
Rose M. Cole
Rose M. Cole, 66, of 163 Bellfonte Drive, died at 7:25 p.m. Friday, April 26, 2002, in St. Elizabeth Medical Center.
Mrs. Cole had worked in nursing at the Indiana Veterans Home for a number of years. After that she worked at Andover Corp. for 27 years in the winding department, retiring due to ill health in 1997.
Born Sept. 5,1935, in Tippecanoe County, she lived here all of her life. She married Elmer Dallas in 1956 in Lafayette, Tenn. He died in December 1981. In 1983, she married Donald K. Cole in Wolcott, and he died Dec. 19, 2000.
Mrs. Cole was a member of Women of the Moose 796. Her hobbies were puzzles, crafts and ceramics. She enjoyed reading.
Surviving are a son, Greg Dallas (wife: Becky) of Lafayette; a daughter, Delilia Sue Kerr of West Point; two stepsons, Bob Cole (wife: Corry) of Williamsport and David Cole of Lafayette; and three stepdaughters, Donna Walker (husband: Bill) of Attica, Linda Lonergan (husband: Jack) of Connecticut and Jane Parrish (husband: Kenny) of Ohio.
Arnold A. Farias
DELPHi -- Arnold A. Farias, 59, of 5010 W. Indiana 218, died at 12:40 a.m. Saturday, April 27, 2002, in Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis, after a brief illness.
Born Nov. 6, 1942, in Corpus Christi, Texas, he attended high school there and finished his high school diploma while serving in the Air Force. He also was a graduate of Gold Smithing School in Houston, Texas.
He married Elaine J. Shappy in Colchester, Vt., on May 14, 1966.
He served in the Air Force for three years and was stationed in Hawaii. He then volunteered as a civilian in the Vietname War as an aircraft mechanic, working for Dyno Electron Corp. He received his flight training from Gault Aviation in Corpus Christi, earning his jet pilot certification. After that he flew as a corporate pilot for Transco Energy Corp. for 20 years, retiring as a captain in 1997. He then flew private freelance for two years out of Aspen, Colo.
Mr. Farias moved from Oregon to Indiana in July 2001 and started KEA Carriers Inc., a trucking company which is based in Lewes, Del. He had served one term as mayor of Chateau Woods, Texas.
He attended St. Joseph Catholic Church in Delphi. He enjoyed traveling in his motor home and had visited all 50 states.
Surviving are his wife; a daughter, Kimmie Lee Farias, at home; his mother Gloria Lozano Farias of Corpus Christi; and twin sisters, Sister Marie Dolorette, SSND, of Phoenix, Ariz., and Lillian Garcia (husband: Anthony) of Corpus Christi.
Justin M. Henady
RENSSELAER -- Justin Michael Henady, 12, died at 12:41 a.m. Monday, April 29, 2002, in Home Hospital, Lafayette.
He was born to Timothy and Jill O'Neil Henady on June 25, 1989, in Lafayette. His parents survive.
He was a student at Rensselaer Middle School, and was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church. He enjoyed smiling.
Surviving with his parents are twin brothers, Clayton and Phillip Henady.
Robert C. Aldridge, 60
Robert C. "Bob" Aldridge, 60, of Warsaw and formerly of Lafayette, died at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 14, 2005, at his residence.
Born Dec. 3, 1944, in Lafayette, he was a resident of Lafayette until moving to Warsaw 12 years ago.
He worked as a quality control inspector for Medtronic and was a member of Warsaw Community Church.
Surviving are a sister, Aletha Aldridge of Columbus, Ind.; two brothers, Larry Aldridge of Florida and Wally Aldridge of Lafayette; a daughter, Jane Aldridge of Lansing, Mich.; and his fiancee, Janet Green of England.
Merle D. Fultz, 56
Merle Douglas Fultz, 56, of Ozark, Ala., formerly of Fowler and Lafayette, died at 7:45 p.m. Friday, Aug. 12, 2005, at his residence.
Born Aug. 27, 1948, in Lafayette, he was a 1968 graduate of Wainwright High School and resided in Benton and Tippecanoe counties most of his life.
He was a veteran, serving in the Army from September 1968 to September 1970. He was stationed in Germany during the Vietname War.
Mr. Fultz married Doris J. Sarault on Nov. 27, 1971, and she survives.
He was the owner of Town and Country Heating and Cooling in Fowler until 2003. He also co-owned Fultz Child Care Center in Fowler with his wife.
Mr. Fultz was a member of the American Legion in Fowler.
Surviving with his wife are three sons, Richard Fultz and James Fultz of Pinckard, Ala., and Michael Fultz of Rockville; his mother, Helen Fultz of Lafayette; a sister, Sheryl Davis of Lafayette; and two brothers, Charles Fultz of Clarks Hill and Maurice Fultz of Lafayette.
Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Soller-Baker West Lafayette Chapel, 1184 Sagamore Pkwy W. Surviving are 3 grandchildren, Ashleigh, Erin and Logan. Preceded in death by his father, Frances Fultz.
