Geneveive G. Gulley, 92, of Fort Wayne, a member of the International Arabia Horse Association, died Friday, Feb. 14, 2003, at St. Joseph Hospital. The Monroeville native had been manager with the House of Fabrics, and had worked for Gulleys Jewelers and B&B; Loan jewelry department. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and past president of Hoagland Elementary PTA. Surviving are daughters Mary Ann Kelley and LaDonna J. Warrick, both of Fort Wayne; sons James D. of Fort Wayne and Ronald W. of Scottsdale, Ariz.; a sister, Vivian Stark of Fort Wayne; brothers Donald Bacon of Ashley and Argyl Bacon of Honolulu; nine grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. Her husband, Marion S., preceded her in death. Services are 1 p.m. Monday at D.O. McComb & Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home, 1140 Lake Ave., with calling from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday. Phyllis M. Ehinger
Fort Wayne - 1922-2003
Phyllis M. Ehinger, 80, of Fort Wayne, a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in New Haven, died Friday, Feb. 14, 2003, at Hospice Home of Northeast Indiana.
The Fort Wayne native was a homemaker. Surviving are her husband, Lawrence; a daughter, Laura J. Trout of Fort Wayne; sons Thomas G. of San Antonio and Michael L. and Philip L., both of Fort Wayne; brothers Maurice, Donald and Stephen Reed, all of Fort Wayne; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers. Prayer services at 10:30 a.m. Monday at E. Harper & Son Funeral Home, 740 Indiana 930 E., New Haven, precede Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Monday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 943 Powers St., New Haven. Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday with a 7:30 p.m. rosary service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Catholic cemetery. Angola - 1915-2002
Max C. Newnam, 87, of Angola, who was a pilot and loved flying, died Thursday, Sept. 19, 2002 at home.
"He built and flew his own Zenair plane after he was 80 years old." The Angola native was owner/operator of Newnam Tire Service for more than 40 years and a member of Angola First Christian Church. Surviving are his wife, Mildred; a son, Lewis of Angola; a daughter, Mary Barton of Angola; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister. Services are 11 a.m. Monday at Weicht Funeral Home, Angola, with calling one hour before services. Burial will be at Mount Zion cemetery, Steuben County. Memorials are to donor's choice.

Robert J. Engle, 76, of Columbia City, a member of Columbia City Fire Department for more than 50 years, died Friday, Sept. 20, 2002, at Hospice Home of Northeast Indiana in Fort Wayne.
The Columbia City native retired from Dana Weatherhead in 1992 after 28 years of service. He was affiliated with Columbia City United Methodist Church. Surviving are his wife, Pat; a son, Michael of Columbia City; daughters, Christina Robb of Laud and Sally Simon of Columbia City; brothers Jack Engle of Roanoke and Richard Engle of Columbia City; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and two grandsons. Services are 10:30 a.m Monday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City, with calling from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday. Roxie R. Keller, 92, of LaGrange, who lived most of her life in LaGrange County, died Thursday, Sept. 19, 2002, at LaGrange Community Hospital.
The LaGrange native retired from Kirsch Co. of Sturgis, Mich., after 35 years of service. Surviving are daughters Wilma Tony of Elkhart, Phyllis Clark of Island Grove, Fla., and Patsy Mikem of LaGrange; a sister, Anna Reichard of North Port, Fla.; and a brother, Norris L. Shafer of Elkhart; 12 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 15 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Clarence A., a daughter, Betty; two sons, Robert and Jack; four brothers, and one sister. Jane E. Bleekman, 70, of Muncie, who was retired from Limberlost Girl Scout Council, died Thursday, Sept. 19, 2002, at home.
The Fort Wayne native had worked for New Haven Schools as teacher. Surviving are daughters Angie Bryan of Muncie and Pam Bleekman of Orlando, Fla.; and four grandchildren. Charles E. "Chuck" Benz Jr., 65, of Fremont, a truck driver, died Tuesday, Sept. 17, at home.
The Fremont native retired from Swift Eckrich after 43 years of service, was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose in Angola and attended Lake George Lutheran Chapel. Surviving are a son, Charles E. III of Angola; a daughter, Christy K. Benz of Glendale, Calif.; his parents, Charles and Celest of Fort Wayne; a sister, Beverly Schweizer of Fort Wayne; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and three step-grandchildren. Clyde R. Cox, 92, of Lowell, Mich., and formerly of Warsaw, Ind., died Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2002 at Kent Nursing Home.
The Urbana, Ill., native retired in 1975 from Endicott Church Furniture in Warsaw, Ind. He attended Bible Church at Hobe Sound, Fla., and was a past member of Warsaw Wesleyan Church, Warsaw, Ind. Surviving are his wife, Mildred; a daughter, Janice Ford of Grand Rapids; a son, James of Spring Arbor; seven grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers. Services are 10 a.m. Monday at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw, Ind., with calling from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday. Burial will be at Oakwood cemetery, Warsaw. Albert Paul Koontz, 75, of Merritt Island, Fla., a Fort Wayne native, died Sunday, Sept. 15, 2002, at Merritt Island.
"Loved to sail, bike and travel. His family loved to listen and laugh at his funny stories." He was retired from U.S. Navy after 25 years of service as lieutenant. Surviving are his wife, Barbara; sisters Esther Mueller of Fort Wayne and Margaret Parnell of Arizona; and a brother, Edward of Fort Wayne. Memorial services will be held at a later date in Merritt Island.
